Massage excellent. Focus in troubled areas. Gave entire hour. Quiet room. Highly recommend.

Excellent (quality) service. Ran 30 minutes behind for my appt. Tried to schedule an appt to get my daughter in, but the stylist cancelled and rescheduled her appt. 3 times. I finally took my daughter elsewhere, because we were going on a vacation and I needed to be sure the service would get done. Again, the cut and color were awesome.

Very well, first time having a massage by a male but it went excellently. Punctual, detailed, listened to areas I was wanting more focus on. Would return!

The staff was nice and the person who cut my hair was Amy. She was super sweet and patient with my son. I also got an eyebrow wax. The eyebrow wax was good! Love them! I didn't notice until we got home because of the way my sons hair was sitting but the front wasn't even near straight. Had to take him somewhere else to fix it. I cut 6" off and donated it. I asked for some layers. The layers she gave me are super chunky and I'm not sure I like it, in fact I'm pretty sure I don't. I have naturally really curly hair so I hope it looks okay when it's not straightened. Hope it grows in okay too. Maybe have to get it fixed too :/

Experience was excellent. He inquired about troubled areas and spent the focus of time on those areas.

All in all, it was a horrible experience.

They are fairly priced. It is a very happy upbeat place. They will always make sure that I am happy before I leave. If I am not happy they will fix it. They are very good.

I went in for a cut and color with Amy W. I was greeted when I came in but I had to wait a bit for Amy to be ready for me. I was offered a drink and everyone was very nice. When I went back for my cut, we discussed what to we were going to do and her ideas for my hair. She listened to my concerns and kept my lifestyle in mind when coming up with a plan. I couldn't quite imagine what she was suggesting but I trusted that she knew what she was doing so I agreed. I'm glad I did. It turned out great. I was very happy with the whole experience. The cost is pretty high but not out of the normal range for a high end salon and it was well worth it.

When I couldn't get in to see my regular massage therapist I decided to try A Day Away Spa. I got an appointment within a few days of when I called which was good because I was in pain. I'd been suffering from a tight muscles in my neck which had already been treated by 6 weeks of physical therapy to no avail. When I arrived the woman at the front desk was very welcoming and offered me a drink while a waited. Another woman took me back to a private area to fill out a sheet of paper with a few questions about my reason for treatment, any medicines I was currently taking, and a signature. I was brought a water and very quickly the massage therapist who was going to provide my service came. The first problem came when I got to the room, no where to put my purse, clothes or shoes! But, the bed was warm and the atmosphere was relaxing. Then when my therapist came in she seemed to be taken by surprise when I said I only wanted an upper body massage (which I had told the scheduling person when I called and indicated on the form I had moments ago filled out). She asked a few more questions then had me lie on my back. I'm sorry I don't remember her name (ugh that's the whole point I know!) To make a long story short, she kept repeating the same techniques over and over, so I had her stop and do the rest of my body which was pretty much the same routine. Needless to say I was less than impressed (and she had bragged she had better schooling than some of the other therapists!) and my pain was the same when I left. Then I was charged $55 dollars plus I left her a tip. The woman was very nice and she gave me some other tips to help with the pain, but the massage wasn't worth my time. My advice would be to ask around as to who the best therapist to see is and ask them what techniques they know as far as therapy, not just massage!

Second massage therapist was very knowledgeable and focused on where my pain or discomfort was. Received relief after each massage. Nateshia was very professional.

At this point, I am not interested in doing business with A Day Away and would like my gifts returned to me in a refund. I complained to the BBB on 03/05/07. 0n 4/16/07 we received an answer. We are very sorry that Ms. Rentschler is not satisfied with our response. We would like to reiterate that we do follow policy and procedure. Therefore, if there was a medical condition, as to why the service could not be received, please send documentation from a physician and we would be happy to honor the expired Gift Certificates, for the preferred service. Sincerely, Nicole Black, Manager. My answer: There was no medical reason or condition ever given to them. I don't know where they came up with this. They, A Day Away Salon and Spa , were the ones unwilling to give an appointment to me for the times I asked for an appointment. Seems to me that they received the money and should be willing to give the denied service or refund the funds as I prefer.

It didn't go well. The manicurist was informed of my split nail and that I needed that repaired. She looked for her nail repair supplies but only spent time filing that broken nail. Finally, I questioned her on the silk wrap repair. That was when she informed me that she ran out of silk wrap, and her co-worker didn't have any either. She told me that she filed it good, and that should take care of it. I was disappointed because that was why I was there in the first place. She proceeded with the manicure, and when she finished, I was even more upset. I can do a better job than she did. The next day, my problem nail was causing even more problems, and I went out to Sally Beauty Supply and purchased the products I needed to do the repair myself.

I looked around Fort Wayne for a while before I settled on Kristin. She does a good job and is very reasonably priced compared to other salons I visited. She does get busy and book up fast so you need to schedule well in advance.
