JANE B.
Nov 2013
I called D.W. Brandenberger just after midnight when my alarm went off in the basement, indicating that there was moisture. I found water backing up from drain tile overload (that is, it was not black sewer backup). I began calling restoration companies, and was informed by Ciocca's and Paul Davis that they could see me a week later.
Brandenberger subcontracts, apparently, to a number of companies such as this one.
I was expecting a dry out, carpet cleaning etc. as follow up, but did not hear from anyone, and proceeded to treat carpeting myself...
I was shocked at the cost of just dropping off a trash pump. I was offended when a call to Brandenberger for an itemized list of services provided resulted only in talking to a secretary. I was incensed when I received threats of legal action the next month, still with no itemized charges. After describing the incident on Angie's List, I received a letter from the attorney handling collections stating that there had been 4 inches of water in the basement, and that I was paying $180 overtime for "plumbers."
Though the water at no time reached 4 inches, it did extinguish the pilot light on my water heater. Any actual plumber would have pointed that out, and one would expect that they would have relit it upon their return.
Two gangly youths in galloshes are not $180 worth of restoration or plumbing.
Other itemized charges included: $90 - Diagnostic Fee (Overtime) of $95.00, Zoeller trash pump, $40.00, and hose kit,, $25.00. Plus sales tax.
I have supplied myself with these items, which were picked up and taken, of course, so just get them yourself: You get to keep them. Cheaper.
The Charges from A&W seemed high at $344.57, which were forwarded with Brandenberger's lawyer's letter. The rest went to Brandenberger.
I would never call either company for anything again.
