"Some customers don't realize the time, and money involved before doing the repair. We have to determine the right color to match the shingles, drive to suppliers to purchase all materials needed, and drive 34 miles one way to fix the problem before the next rain. Sorry for any disappointment, but still provided professional service."
The new roof is fine, the problem is that they were supposed to remove the gutter helmet, but instead they just bent it up out of the way, laid the shingles and then bent it back in place. Of course, we didn't realize this was an issue until many months after the job was finished and the rains came. Essentially, they ruined the gutter helmet and now water flows right over the end of the gutter helmet onto the windows and straight down along the foundation of the house where it pools. We called Paul (Brent) multiple times to come and take a look at it. The first time he came out he said our gutters were dirty and that’s why the gutter helmet wasn’t working. He had one of his workers clean the gutters and then billed me $150.00. I refused to pay as I never authorized the work and they were supposed to clean the gutters when they laid the new roof. The second time he came out, he said he it looked like the gutter helmet placement needed to be adjusted. He said he would come by when it was raining so he could further assess the problem and then get someone to come and adjust the gutter helmet. Well that never happened and then he quit returning phone calls. I really hate that he did not follow through on this. We like to support small local businesses, but in this case it was a mistake. He was very responsive before he got paid, but once he was paid, the customer service basically stopped. We gave him plenty of opportunities, but it has now been 2 years and we have given up. We are replacing the gutter helmet, which is not cheap. I did want to let other know what happened to us. If he says he is going to remove gutters or gutter helmet, you better be sure to get that in writing and that his workers really do what is in your contract. Because, if they don't you will likely be facing the same issue that we are facing.
"Customer called about water running over a gutter. We went back to determine the problem, and didn't see any reason for it to not be working. Nothing was changed or bent out of shape on the gutter helmet. The fact is, that gutter helmet is not a good product. Every home we have worked on with this product had debris in the gutters. In wooded areas, the gutters were completely full of debris. Have had multiple customers say that gutter helmet didn't work in heavy rains, and don't like the product. We haven't avoided any customer, and know that gutter helmet simply doesn't work."
