"Dear Ms. [Member Name Removed], We are sorry to hear you feel this way. As we have explained, the product shown [Member Name Removed] the initial demo includes both single-pane and double-pane glass. When our consultant priced your room, you stated that you didn't want double-pane glass as it was too expensive and chose the single-pane glass option. That was what was quoted, what was outlined [Member Name Removed] your contract, what you paid for and what was installed. It is also the same type of glass as your neighbor's sunroom. We recognize that there are outstanding issues with the trim and caulking and have every intention of correcting those. Our managers went to your home Friday to address those issues specifically and were met with hostility from you and your family and told to get off your property. We work with customers of all races, backgrounds, ethnicities and the like and treat everyone with professionalism and respect, but when our employees are verbally assaulted and told to get off your property, there isn't much we can do other than leave and attempt to pick up discussions about next steps when tempers are calmer. [Member Name Removed] regards to your name on the contract, as we have mentioned, it was entered into our system as [Member Name Removed] not [Member Name Removed] Since the contract is electronically generated from that information, it simply reversed the order of your first and last name. All of our contracts are time/date stamped and have a verification pin that can only be accessed through your personal email account, which helps to create an audit trail for everyone on the backend to ensure the contract was executed properly. The document audit was included with your initial copy of the contract, it was emailed to you again a month or so ago by request and a printed copy was brought to you when our managers visited your home on Friday. We are an upstanding organization and stand by our work. We would like to correct the outstanding trim and caulking issues if you will allow us access to the room and can ensure our technicians a safe environment [Member Name Removed] which to finish working."
"Dear [Member Name Removed], Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us! We're so pleased to know you have been impressed with us from beginning to end. Our staff works hard and they take great pride in delivering great service. Thank you for being a valued customer and we hope you enjoy your room for years to come! Sincerely, The Patio Enclosures Team"
Their sales staff was professional and courteous. The installation went well and on schedule. The group that installed the patio were very polite, respectful of our home, and were true professionals. I have nothing bad to say about the quality of our room and how happy we are with our purchase. We love our enclosed patio.
Service:
Approximately 6 months ago, the lock on our sliding glass door stopped functioning and we were unable to lock this door. Long story short, I have been calling for service now for 6 months and no service person has called me back. The part that is most bothersome is that everytime I call for service I actually talk to a real person in the Fisher's office, so it's not like I'm leaving messages on a voicemail that no one checks. I called several times in 2014 with no call back. I was so bothered by this that I actually stopped by their showroom in Fishers in December of 2014 and spoke to someone. I was told that they would call in two weeks. No call. I then called some time in early February of 2015 and was told again it would be two weeks. No call again. Today is 27th of March and I called once more for service and was told that someone would call me back. Needless to say I'm not expecting a phone call back.
In conclusion, I have nothing but praise for our room and how much enjoyment we've gotten out of it. I'm just a little confused as to why they are so reluctant to fix a simple lock on a sliding door? My concern is that if someone is going to be ignored for a little problem like this, what if someone has a big problem (structurally) they they need this company to address? I hired this company based on Angie's List reviews, along with their (perceived) professionalism and warranty of work. I have held off writing a review since this seems like such a small issue, but I feel that I've been more than patient. I just want the lock fixed.
Update 04-Apr-2015: The service person arrived today and replaced the lock. The whole thing took about 10 minutes. Service person gave me his card and said from now on, call him directly.
The work began as a surprise on 18Jun2014. They showed up and startled my daughter by all the sawing and banging on the back deck. Due to wet weather it took a few extra days to get the patio installed. The patio fit onto the deck very nicely and looks fine.
26Jun 2014, the patio failed it's first building inspection due to roof attachment not properly flashed and siding needs proper channel and flashing.
On 02Jul2014 they came out to address issues with the construction. Then on 07Jul2014 the electrician wired the patio.
A week later on the 14th I contacted them due to multiple issues construction issues. The hand rails were not installed, a corner piece of the patio was missing, part of the roof flashing was missing and the wooden cover installed over the support beam in the ceiling was very rough, no caulking added.
On 16Jul2014 the patio failed its second building inspection. The exterior electrical receptacles failed due to not being GFCi protected and the roof was not properly flashed (repeat failure.) The inspector's report stated caulking is not flashing.
On 18Jul2014 they started working on the roof flashing and other repairs. During the repairs a shingle was dislodged on the small bump out above the kitchen window next to the patio.
Also they decided to caulk the house trim above the patio which had nothing to do with the patio. The house had just been painted a couple of months ago. I had to climb up and repaint the house trim myself. This was exceptionally annoying.
Additional repairs went on for a week or so. They demanded the final payment on the project. I said payment will be made when the patio passes its building inspection. This is a quote from them in an email as to why I should pay up prior to the patio passing inspection: " As for the final payment. In the contract it states ? finial payment due upon completion of room not after finial inspection." Wow, this does not sound like a reputable organization to me. Also they should turn on spell checker.
On 01Aug2014 the patio failed the third (really??) building inspection due to improper attachment to the house, the same flashing problem that was found at fault back on 26Jun2014. I am not sure if they were trying to sneak one by or were incompetent or a mixture of both.
On 06Aug they did finally put the appropriate flanges on the patio roof. But the flanges were white and the patio is sandstone colored. They did agree the flange's color was wrong and agreed to replace them, Again they requested final payment.
Then I started to get harassing phone calls requesting final payment.
On 12Aug2014 the patio finally passed on its fourth building inspection. Their salesman drove out to collect that evening. I discussed a number of the issues with the project but he just said this was unusual, took the check and left.
The work took over 2 months to complete for a job I was told would take a week. I had to contact them continuously about multiple issues with the project. The improper attachment of the patio to the house could easily have caused water to leak into the exterior walls leading to damage or possible mold growth.
This project should have been a pleasant event but due to their continuous mistakes and shenanigans it became contentious. I would not recommend this company to anyone.
Update 09 Aug 2015
I just noticed the Company stated it would follow up with me, that was never done.
"Mr. (removed member name), Thank you for your review. As you mentioned, this project was not completed to your expectations and satisfaction and for that we are truly sorry. We are looking into the issues you have presented and will be in contact with you to discuss. Sincerely, Patio Enclosures by Great Day Improvements"
"Thank you for the great feedback. We appreciate your business."
"Thank you for the opportunity. We enjoyed working on this project and appreciate the recommendation."
"Thank you. We're glad you were pleased and we are always grateful for referrals."
The work was completed on April 29th in approximately 6 hours. The two workers were friendly and willing to answer any questions or concerns that I had. Once the work was completed, they instructed me on the maintenance of the rolling windows. They even cleaned up the old carpet that was out there without being asked to. I told them the carpet was to be replaced, but they still made sure it looked nice. They were respectful of my property and left no trace behind.
The completed sun porch looks great and blends nicely with the house. It looks as though it was there the entire time. Fred even called that afternoon to ensure the job had been completed to my satisfaction. I would recommend Patio Enclosures to anyone looking for a sun room or other improvements.
"Thank you, [removed members name]. We appreciate the great feedback and hope you are enjoying the remodel of your sun porch."
