The bad part of my experience came about a week or so later when i looked at my contract to get the finance company info and noticed they only accounted for $3000 towards a down payment. I called Tim the finance guy and explained to him this mistake and that we put down $3500 not $3000. He proceeded to tell me that I only ever gave him $3000. I told him I have slips showing that I paid $3500 not $3000 which he checked and said "oh I see that you did". Than Tim said he gave me my $500 deposit back and it was never applied to the down payment. I asked him to show a slip showing he gave it back to me (because he never did) and he said he doesn't have anything. That he just gave me $500 in cash and didn't have me sign anything. I have delt with several companies and they have paper trails for every dollar. He would never just give me $500 cash without making me sign or inital somewhere that I was given it back. Tim said he would talk with the GM and get back wtih me. He did call me back the next day as promised and said that the GM said he would not be givnig me my $500 back. I explained that i have the proof that I paid $3500 and he has nothing showing he gave it back so I would file a small claims against him. He called me back within 15 minutes and said they would be sending me a check in the mail for the $500. They did send it to me and I am happy they made it right. Tim however was very snide in telling me that he is sure i'd end up finding the $500 laying around somewhere. My experience with the dealership was great except for this money mistake. I understand mistakes happen but when I have proof that I paid something I expect to be treated fair.
