"This customer is an employee of Angies List In response to Mr. [Member Name Removed], comments ,I personally used a level/straight edge on the areas in question and the new wall that was built is straight and level as are the grout joints within 1/32 inch . I showed Mr. [Member Name Removed] the existing wall above and how uneven it is. Much of the issue and the appearance in my opinion was due to the tile selection( Glass Tile From Lowes) which I do not recommend. The quality is not the same from these type of vendors in many cases. Mr. [Member Name Removed] chose not to use tile from my recommended vendors. It is very common for Glass tile ,which get their color from the backing, to play tricks on your eyes. It is my feeling that Mr.[Member Name Removed] may be more upset with his selection of material that was the installation of it. My installer, who has been with the company for over 13 years is very meticulous and has nothing but great reviews from every of customer has done work for. I felt in the last meeting that I was being pressured ,due to owners position of employment to offer monetary concessions on the final invoice, I disagree that homeowners in this position should be allowed to review."
We chose Indiana Renovations and Gene Snodgrass over other providers because we really felt based on his examples of work, overall experience, and great reviews that he would add an extra level of expertise we needed when considering how to re-do our bathroom shower and refreshing other areas. Other companies we looked at felt more like we would be hiring just laborers and we would have to pick everything out ourselves. We are so happy we made the decision we did - because there were multiple instances where Gene's recommendations were absolutely spot on and we would have never thought to consider it without him. This in particular came in handy when we were thinking about the tile - his attention to detail was phenomenal in that process.
He used a subcontractor for the ceiling drywall work and also had a subcontractor for painting we needed to do. We opted to go with another painter we had picked on our own and that was not an issue. We had a few communication issues with the drywall company, but Gene stepped in for us and helped resolve the issue in a very professional and fair manner. If I had it to do all over again, the only thing I would have maybe done differently would be to ask for a sit down before work started to go over a few details and timelines. So much time had passed since some of the early meetings, I had forgotten about a few items and it would have been good to all be on the same page. Probably would have cut down on the during project questions that popped up a few times. Communication is a two way street, so some of that is on us I know.
We have done a lot of work to our house, but this was by far the most involved and expensive overhaul we have taken on. I would absolutely recommend Gene and Indiana Renovations for anyone looking to have a kitchen or bathroom project completed. The workmanship was fantastic. I also cannot say enough about how nice of a man Gene is personally. We took on this project as part of a refinance of our home. The re-fi process was extremely slow and frustrating, but Gene was understanding and very patient with us. At times I felt like we might have been a little high maintenance with our questions, but Gene was always very gracious and helpful with talking through things with us.
Very happy with our choice of Indiana Renovations and would strongly recommend.
"In response to comments made in this review. The plumbing contractor was subcontracted and doing the job from a bid price. This was a very complicated shower system from Kohler with steam, lighting and shower control , all controlled through digital interface. There was misinformation given to the homeowners through Kohler which caused issues with the compatibility of the components. Kohler's technical line and Kohlers own troubleshooting was very little help and had trouble figuring out themselves what the problem was. The Plumber made many changes and trips based on bad information from Kohler and were not paid for their effort. The homeowners frustration is being taken out on the plumber and other parties, when in fact it should be taken up with Kohler. In regards to the trim there were a lot of misunderstood issues due to extremely erratic framing(out of level and out of square) issues due to a poor quality previous room addition by another contractor."
