Description of Work: We hires Impressive Homes to do a living room remodel with built in bookshelves. We met with the owner, Arthur Sanford, and were led to believe that a professional carpenter would be doing the work. We found out after we hired him that he was the one who would do the work. He is an engineer and designer, but not a professional carpenter. He rebuilt stairs and newel posts in a manner that did not meet with code specs. He tried to use poplar (instead of the white oak we requested) to save him money. He stated that he could not find the oak newel posts - my wife found them in 20 minutes on the internet in northern Indiana. He tried to install them over the old posts instead of properly securing them into the floor. He installed stair ballusters 4 1/2 inches apart. The maximum distance by code is 4 inches. His response was that "it is a range, and they usually do not check closely". We have children, so this was unacceptable. He installed shelves that had 1/4 to 1/2 gaps on the sides, causing them to rock. The back of the bookshelves were not plumb - they were an inch off. He stated that "wood just does that." We had him install gutter covers, and he placed these OVER the shingles, instead of under to allow for proper draiange. He had constant excuses for the mistakes. A project that was estimated to take 6 weeks was 1/2 complete (and wrong) after 3 months. All told, we had to spend another 15,000 dollars to undo/redo his work. He is a salesman, not a carpenter. I would not let him near your home.

Description of Work: Kitchen demo and removal. Installed new cabinets, countertop, 3 new appliances, and also upgraded electrical circuit.

+ 10 moreEverything was really good. We had different groups of guys for each project, if there was something I was not pleased with and it was redone until I was satisfied. He was very professional, and even after the fact he came out and took care of any problems I had. I felt he was very honest and I could trust him. The work is beautiful, no one could believe it is the same place. It really opened up my kitchen and dining room.
Description of Work: They put in all new kitchen cabinets, removed a wall, installed granite countertops, put in floor tile, put in a food bar with cabinets on one side, put in drop lights, ceiling fan, and new lights over the new sink, they put on new pantry doors, and they put on brick for the backsplash. He put in a new microwave over the oven and they painted as well.

+ 6 moreIt went smoothly from start to finish. Arthur Sanford is very professional and knowledgeable. Everyone that he had me deal with when picking out materials was helpful. Arthur did a lot of the work himself - and he is very meticulous. Each day when he was done he left our kitchen in a clean and orderly manner - and it was usually always functioning, which is important when you have children. Our kitchen is sleek and updated, and the price was reasonable. I would recommend Impressive Homes to anyone.
Description of Work: Complete kitchen island remodel - including changeover from gas to electric for installation of an induction cook top. New granite countertops were also installed, as well as some new glass cabinet doors and new knobs and a new sink and faucet. Also, we changed out the railing rods to wrought iron and installed all new appliances and light fixtures.

+ -1 moreThe person who came to give us an estimate took down the specifications of what we were looking for in our deck. He then asked us how much we wanted to spend. Having never built a deck, and not gotten any other estimates at that point, we weren't sure. Since the coupon in their advertisement said "$500 off any project over $5,000", we said we'd like to shoot for the $5,000 range. Meanwhile, we contacted a few other contractors that came out and worked with us on what we wanted, and found that our "dream deck" would probably cost closer to $10,000. Okay, no problem. But we wanted to hear back from Impressive Home Improvements w/their estimate. They called US and left a message for SOMEONE ELSE on their estimate. When we called back to tell them that, they said "Thanks, I'll call the correct person." That was it!! Eventually, when I called them to find out why we hadn't gotten our estimate, they said "We can't build the deck you want for $5,000, so I didn't even do an estimate."
Description of Work: We called Impressive Home Improvements for an estimate for our deck, based on an advertisement we saw in a local publication. Unfortunately, we apparently weren't looking to spend enough money on our deck to even warrant a return phone call after the initial meeting. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL
