I have worked with Doug Wehr for mold testing and he is very knowledgeable and trustworthy. There are few incidences that allow a person's integrity to be questioned and he proved to be 100% concerned about the environment and the safety of the homeowners that I was working with. He is and will continue to be my go to person when I have mold concerns for clients as well as my own home.

When we came back home after they did their inspection, the bathroom faucet was running. They left our home without turning it off. It did not overflow but it could have. Doug wear was the inspector and ss far as I'm concerned it was is HIS responsibility to check it before he left Two weeks prior to them coming out, we had a plumber check our toilet, Doug Wear from Clear view was inspecting our master bathroom toilet and broke the seal and loosened the toilet so much that I could move the toilet one inch by myself with one hand. After his "inspection" he added it to the inspection list as something that had to be repaired. There is NO QUESTION that Doug caused this issue to our toilet because we had already gotten it inspected two weeks prior and it has never moved in the 10 years that we have lived here. When we asked him about it and brought it to his attention, he said what he didn't cause the issue, even though we know he did because we already had it inspected. When we asked him the water running he said he didn't do it and said the new home owners may have done it. . I would like consumers to be aware of this situation.

He was very thorough in his inspection of the house, garage, sheds, and yards.  He was very good at describing any problems he found and telling us how we could correct any problems we found.  We received his written report within 3 days of his inspection.  He included photographs of all the problems that he found so that we would know exactly to what he was referring.

Doug was one of the few recommended by my real estate agent. I checked him out on Angie's List and reviews showed as a professional in his business and he sure was. Showed up on time, did a wonderful job and gave us bunch of things for the sellers to fix. I am sure sellers weren't happy to see the list but he was very detailed. He was even kind enough to do the inspection on Saturday and spent several hours doing it. I would definitely recommend and use him when needed.

This is our first time going through the home buying process and our first home inspection experience. Doug showed up on time and was extremely professional and easy to talk to. He took us through the entire home with him, pointing out and explaining each item that was a potential problem and giving us ideas on how to fix and maintain the property. He is extremely knowledgeable and spent over 2 1/2 hours with us in the home. We definitely felt like we got more than we paid for and would highly reccomend him!

Doug saved me approximately $30,000 by finding three types of toxic mold in a home I had a contract on.  He also took the time to explain basic maintenance issues.  I used his service for the next home and all the items that needed repaired from his inspection were taken care of.

Doug was on the scene before I arrived as planned.   The real estate agent (sellers agent) was there the entire time and was asking questions about what he had found, etc prior to and during my presence.    He asked me to sign some papers when I arrived covering his services, the process, and his approach, but didn't reveal anything that had been found while in front of the sellers agent.    He then asked me to join him upstairs as he completed the mold testing where he outlined the things that had been found in privacy.  I greatly appreciated his consideration and the position that I was in.  He respected that I was the one paying for the inspection and only if I agreed would the information be released elsewhere or to the agent.    He was willing to share context about what he saw, where it was seen, details of notes he had taken and then he outlined how his reporting structure worked.   It would be broken down into safety / hazard, important but not critical, things to watch, and simply common sense maintenance.   That made it easy to get the final report and know what to focus my and the sellers time on getting addressed.   He had the inspection report back to me within 24 hours of completing the inspection which worked well for me ( he could have gotten that day but I wasn't pressed) and he had the mold / radon results to me within 48 hours and on the weekend.  He made himself available on his cell and over the weekend to answer questions which was nice.    Doug was professional in his approach, respected when I told him that I had to leave, and he followed up on all the things he said he would when he committed them.    He's an A act.      I would use him again.

I'm not sure how his prices compare, but he was recommended to us by a realtor, and we were very happy. It was easy to schedule an appointment. He did a very thorough inspection and picked up on so many little things that we missed even after we had toured the home several times. He also gave good information on the nature, cost, and severity of minor problems in the house. The inspection did take ~5hrs which was OK with us, we'd rather it take longer and have a more detailed inspection. Would use Clear View again for sure.

Well, I had more than just a few problems with my inspection. I hired Clear View in April of 2007 to preform an inspection on the house I was preparing to buy. They didn't catch any problems. Three weeks later after I closed raw sewage began spewing out of every drain in my house. I bought a house that had no sewer line or septic system whatsoever. Shawn, my inspector, stood on top of a cistern with myself, my realtor, and the previous owner and said "This is not a cistern or well. I don't know what it is but you don't need to worry about it." this occurred at the time of the inspection. I have now been in my home for 13 months and I'm awaiting for a city inspector to come out and tell me if my new home is going to be condemned. The home inspector missed a bad roof, bad gutters, bad siding, a completely disintegrating foundation, lack of a dryer vent, insect infestation, and the fact that a supporting wall was removed from the house. I am out a lot of money and time. Repairs on the house are going to cost more than what my house is worth and all Clear View did for me is give me a partial refund. THEY REMINDED ME THAT THE ORIGINAL DOCUMENTATION THAT I SIGNED DISMISSES THEM OF ANY LIABILITY IN THE EVENT THAT THEY MAY HAVE MISSED SOMETHING.

We were told that we needed a new roof because of hail damage. We wanted an independent, unbiased opinion. Doug was on time, was very professional, and did not rush whatsoever. He answered all of our questions and was very knowledgeable. I would definitely recommend him.

The home inspector, Scott, was thorough and had the attention to detail that we expected. The only areas for improvement would be to offer pool inspections, for a more comprehensive inspection and to allow plenty of time to go over the report at the end. We got quite rushed at the end and weren't able to ask questions about the findings.

Overall OK, but they incorrectly inspected a well and pump system used for outdoor watering. They passed it as OK, when in reality the submersible well pump was defective. This was a $1400 mistake! Follow-up: Not good.
Response from CLEAR VIEW HOME INSPECTIONS LLC
"CLEAR VIEW HOME INSPECTIONS HAS BEEN A SUCCESSFUL AND RESPECTED ORGANIZATION SINCE 1999. PRIOR TO JULY 2005, OUR INSPECTIONS WERE CONDUCTED ACCORDING TO THE STANDARDS OF PRACTICE AND CODE OF ETHICS OF THE AMERICAN SOCIETY OF HOME INSPECTORS. SINCE JULY OF 2005, WE ARE ALSO GOVERNED BY THE STANDARDS OF PRACTICE AND CODE OF ETHICS FOR HOME INSPECTORS LICENSED BY THE STATE OF INDIANA. WELLS AND WELL PUMPS ARE NOT A REQUIRED INSPECTION COMPONENT UNLESS THERE IS A SEPARATE AGREEMENT WITH THE CLIENT. THERE WAS NO SUCH AGREEMENT IN THIS CASE AND IT IS INCORRECT TO STATE THAT "IT WAS PASSED AS OK". THERE WAS NO MENTION OF A WELL ON THE PREMISES, EITHER IN ANY DOCUMENTATION OR FROM THE CLIENT UNTIL AFTER THE FACT. THEREFORE, WE HAD NO KNOWLEDGE OF THE WELLS' EXISTENCE, AND SINCE THE HOME HAS A MUNICIPAL WATER SUPPLY, THERE WAS NO REASON FOR FURTHER INQUIRY. ALL OF OUR INSPECTORS WERE AND ARE LICENSED BY THE STATE IN WOOD DESTROYING INSECT CERTIFICATION. I HAVE REVIEWED THE TERMITE REPORT MENTIONED BY THE MEMBER AND IT IS VERY THOROUGH AND STATES EXACTLY WHAT THE CONDITIONS WERE ON THE DAY OF THE INSPECTION, I.E. EVIDENCE OF PREVIOUS ACTIVITY, BUT NO RECOMMENDATION FOR TREATMENT AT THIS TIME BECAUSE THERE WERE NO SIGNS OF ACTIVE INFESTATION. NO REASONABLE PERSON, REGARDLESS OF TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE, CAN SAY WITH CERTAINTY WHEN AN INFESTATION BEGAN. LACK OF VISIBLE EVIDENCE ON THE DAY OF THE INSPECTION IS NOT A GUARANTEE THAT THERE WILL NEVER BE A REINFESTATION."

DOUG WEHR WAS THE INSPECTOR ON THIS HOUSE. HE ARRIVED ON TIME AND IMMEDIATELY STARTED THE INSPECTION PROCESS. WHILE HE CONNECTED HIS COMPUTER SETUP, HE EXPLAINED THE INSPECTION TO ME. I APPRECIATED THE ABILITY TO FOLLOW DOUG THROUGH THE INSPECTION AND HE HAD NO PROBLEM IN ANSWERING MY QUESTIONS. HE SORTED THE INSPECTION INTO TWO CATEGORIES: CONCERNS (I.E., MUST BE REPAIRED) AND REPAIRS (I.E., WOULD BE GOOD TO REPAIR, BUT NOT A SAFETY ISSUE). HE ALSO PROVIDED ROUTINE MAINTENANCE INFORMATION AND GENERAL COMMENTS IN HIS REPORT. THE REPORT, GIVEN TO ME IMMEDIATELY AFTER HE COMPLETED THE INSPECTION, HAD COLOR PHOTOS AND THE CONCERNS, REPAIRS, MAINTENANCE AND GENERAL COMMENTS LISTED. THE REPORT WAS IN A THREE-RING BINDER WITH ALL THE INFORMATION I NEEDED. DOUG WAS VERY FRIENDLY AND ETHICAL AND CLEANED UP AFTER HIMSELF. I WOULD USE THIS SERVICE AGAIN.

HE WAS VERY THOROUGH AND HE EXPLAINED EVERYTHING TO US AS HE WENT ALONG. HIS WHOLE REPORT SYSTEM WAS COMPUTERIZED ON A LAPTOP SO HE WAS ABLE TO ENTER THE PHOTO, COMMENTS, AND PRINT A REPORT TO GIVE US BEFORE HE LEFT. HE WAS VERY EASY TO WORK WITH AND PERSONABLE. HE SEEMED TO BE VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE.
