Ernie's Van & Storage and Atlas Van Lines did a terrible job with our move. They did not box all of our household goods which I paid them to, they mixed our items with another move, damaged most of our furniture and lost several of our boxes during the move. They also charged us above the estimate they provided. Also, despite doing such a poor job with the move, their owner and management team will not return my calls and are trying to avoid accountability. Also, despite $10,000 in damage they caused, their Claims team is trying to say they are not responsible for lost boxes and are only offering $400 for our trouble. Atlas Van Lines is not reputable or honest. As such, I would avoid them like the plague. Btw, Atlas left me with boxes and shelves from someone else's move when they delivered our things, and after 3 months have yet to get these items to the right owners. This company is irresponsible and unprofessional. One star is much too high a rating for them.

Avoid these guys at all costs. They "lost" a $7,400 painting measuring 5 feet by 5 feet, a child's toy and a box of important files. Filed a claim a day after they delivered other stuff (three weeks late) with pictures, receipt and proof that we had taken out full insurance on the move. Denied. Claimed there was no proof they even took the "high value" item out of the house and that insurance was not insurance. Really?? So all that stuff magically disappeared? They also charged a third more than the binding estimate despite giving them a full accounting of the items to be shipped. Local affiliate in the Bay Area is Peeters Transportation. Want to bet that painting is hanging in one of their mover's living room? Use them at your peril. They WILL steal your stuff.

They did a great job. They moved my piano. The church paid part of it and I paid part of it. I had movers move me maybe 50 times in the last 50 years, and they were one of the best.

Our furniture was supposed to be delivered Dec 16 or 17. We had requested this date on November 4, since our furniture was in storage and we really wanted it delivered with time to organize before Christmas. We were told previously that they would need about two weeks to schedule, and we gave them 1 1/2 months!! However, our furniture was never delivered until Dec 23, two days before Christmas!!!! Our family company arrived 2 days before our furniture, and our Christmas was ruined!!! Atlas had cancelled delivery routes and changed drivers and left our furniture out in their truck in frigid temperatures for about two weeks. So much for the climate controlled environment that we were promised! We were not told anything about the changes until we requested to communicate with the scheduler - they were very weak in customer service. The worst part was they didn't seem to care at all about our inconvenience. After writing a letter to the vice president, we received a letter in response from some low level manager who reprimanded us for not taking the unpacking service they offered us for free!!! They don't understand their customers!! The last thing I wanted or needed two days before Christmas were a bunch more people in my new house unpacking boxes and putting my things - where? I didn't even know where they would go!! How out of touch to expect a customer to want what they think I should want!! I didn't want retributions of money or services, I want them to acknowledge they screwed up with a customer by not being sensitive to their needs and wishes and they should review their scheduling policies. I got just the opposite, and they even spelled my name wrong!! I will never trust my furniture or my timetable to Atlas ever again, and could never recommend them to anyone.

Contracted company to move us to another state. Atlas subcontracted another local storage company to pack and load us - this part went fine .... except for 'after' our belongings were loaded. Any questions after that time, we were told .... "hey - your belongings are in Atlas' possession now - we are not responsible".
Note: We have moved several times ... across several states ..... and NEVER have we had such a horrible experience!
Previously we were ALWAYS given a date for delivery! This Atlas company gives a "window" of dates (although they verbally gave us AN ACTUAL DATE for delivery - we were told they had to post a "window" of dates on the computer). Now in our new state, we had not heard confirmation from anyone the day before expecting our belongings .... so we called them to confirm .... NOPE, NOT COMING! ..... THAT WEEK OR NEXT!!!!!! We asked Where is our stuff? They said "Right here ... in the parking lot! .... But we don't have a DRIVER!!!!!" WHAT? ..................... We finally got our belongings DAMAGED <<<<<<<<< 2 WEEKS AFTERWARDS!! But some Atlas workers we spoke with during this ordeal SHOULD BE FIRED!!!
I normally note every name of persons I talk with .... however, I was so upset by #3 person I spoke to on day 10 ... that I did not note HER name! >>>> She told me "the thing with you ... is that you think STUFF is important !!!! It's not like someone has DIED or HAS CANCER!!!!!! I said WHAT??? She repeated it all again!!!!" <<<<<<<<<
I told her I HAVE CANCER (I DO!) .... and that my uncle DIED the PREVIOUS day ...... and I'm sleeping ON THE FLOOR!!!! Again ... this was person #3 that day I spoke to. Person #5 was more helpful in that she at least arranged for a motel room for the last 2 nights of waiting.
NOTE: When we actually finally got our belongings >>> it was contracted out >>>> NOT EVEN TO AN ATLAS driver or company! Our belongings had been haphazardly been shuffled into this truck ..... MANY items broken and damaged! When this contracted driver showed up to our home ..... we were told other men were to show up to actually unload the truck ..... and we waited for 2 hours for them to show up!
I'm getting upset just writing about this horrible experience .... so will stop ..... but felt the need to let consumers know.

Forgot to let you know >>>>> MANY MANY items were broken including furniture!! SEVERAL items missing including 2 full wardrobes!!!!

I had quite a few items broken, but even with insurance on my household items they have been difficult to follow up with. I wouldn't use them again.

It was fantastic. I didn't know how to pack some of my things and they showed up and packed everything that wasn't yet packed. The truck driver that delivered my stuff in Indiana called me personally to give me updates. He gave me his cellphone number so I could call him. I was floored.

We received other estimates. We chose them mostly because they were able to break down the piano and put it back together instead of having to hire someone else to do it. There were three guys who moved us and it was extraordinarily hot on the moving day. I have to give these guys credit because they spent hours and hours moving all of our stuff. We had most everything packed, but there were still a number of things we had not yet got to and they had to do some packing for us as well. The company was willing to negotiate as well. Because of the size of our street, they had to load our belongings into a smaller truck than the one that would actually travel across country. They normally give you a ten day window to receive our belongings, but we didn't need the truck delivered for a few weeks because we had to prepare the new home. There are always bumps, bruises, and it is always chaotic when moving. I would certainly recommend that we should have done more to pack so that they didn't have the burden to remember where I had packed certain things. We had no complaints against them.

I have actually used them before, and I like them very much. They are prompt, they are very thorough, and they are very careful. They did a good job of placing items where they should be placed, and asking if we had any questions. They anticipated some of the questions that we had, and got me technically involved.

The entire move was a nightmare. The packers did a terrible job, packed badly and the movers were very rough. We have scratches, dents and damage on almost everything we own. We put everything into storage while we looked for a house. Finally found a house after 9 months, so we really didn't know the extent of the damage until we got everything unpacked, which takes some time. My husband was in touch with Atlas several times concerning the damage. They sent long, involved forms to fill out, which took us forever. We did take pictures of all the damage, which we told Atlas about. There was never any mention from Atlas that there was a time limit on this - never once, and my husband talked to them and emailed them several times. After a long and painful unpacking and filling out their complex forms we submitted the claim and THEN they told us that we had taken too long, and would not honor any of our claim.

Ours was a company move, so we didn't have any choice on who we had move us. But if you have a choice, DO NOT use this company.

We used the Milwaukee office of Ace Movers and the manager there, Paul Sowa, is outstanding. He actually went back and personally got an antique mirror we had left behind (it was behind the front door and none of us remembered it). They arrived when they said they would and they did a wonderful job. We got a guaranteed "not to exceed" estimate and I was glad we did, because Mom brought everything but the kitchen sink and it would have gone over if we'd done it by weight.

It's a major national company. As far as friendliness, they were great. As far as timeliness, they were awesome. I did have quite a few broken items that I was not happy about. They actually damaged some stuff in this current house. Other than the damage, I was happy. We are in the process of resolving that right now. I would consider using them in the future if I don't have a choice.

They did a wonderful job unpacking the furniture, bringing it in, and putting it in place. There was no damage. They arrived exactly as scheduled. They were very prompt, personable, and professional. The only thing I didn't like was that you had to sign a form that the estimate was non-binding. It turned out that they didn't go over the estimate but I just wasn't comfortable signing the form.

They did an outstanding job moving my things around. There was only a small amount of damage but it was insignificant considering how good they worked. I didn't have to pay for it because it was a company move, so they took care of the charges.
