Animal Rescues/Shelters
$500
On my son's 5th birthday, we went to the shelter to purchase his first dog.  We looked at a number of dogs and two groups of puppies.  We eventually purchased a mixed breed puppy.  By the end of the first night, the puppy became lethargic and by morning had bloody stools.  We took him to our vet who diagnosed Parvo.  Although the dog's chance of survival was slim, we went forward with treatment.  The puppy died 2 days later.  We called the shelter and explained what happened, expecting to get consolation and possibly another dog.  Instead, they informed us that since the dog came from their shelter, all of the dogs at the shelter would be immediately euthanized.  She reported that they didn't have any money for inoculations, so they had no choice.
