I have been using this service for about five years. They are consistent and fast. They come every Wednesday to mow my small (1/4 acre) lawn and trim. If they have to miss because of rain, they come the next day if possible. If the summer is very dry and the grass does not need mowing, they do not come or charge for the service that week.
Because they use such big mowers it takes them very little time to mow the yard. One time they missed a small area in front that was not connected to the rest (other side of driveway) but this was easily corrected the next week with an email and did not occur again. I would say they give solid service for a nice price.

When the lawn committee met with Chip Mavis of Band B during the summer of 2013, he came across as very knowledgeable and professional. His prices were a little higher than the other company we were considering. The lawn committee liked the way Chip talked and felt Band B was the company to handle our lawn care and snow removal needs. Chip indicated he wasn't a one man operation, but had a crew working for him. We knew a one-man operation could not get the work done in a day.
He began mowing in September 2013. He showed up by himself. When questioned about his crew, he said they were all college students and were now back at school. OK, we could work with that. The mowing itself was OK. But the trim work was never completed properly. Areas would be missed. These areas would be pointed out and then other areas missed the next week. He did finally hire someone to work with him in our community, but still the trim work was a problem.
During the winter of 2013/2014, Band B handled the snow removal for our community. Band B sub-contracted that work to another company. That company used a bobcat to remove the snow. The operator of the bobcat got the blade into numerous yards. Once all the snow finally melted, numerous yards had damage from the blade on the bobcat.. Chip was called out to look at all the yard damage. He said he would take care of them when the ground thawed out. During late Spring Chip was asked again about the turf damage. This time he said the areas would fill in on their own. He never took any steps to repair the turf damage and those bare areas are still there.
In late March of 2014, Chip was notified to trim the ornamental grass by our pond. That trim work was not done until mid-May 2014, after several reminders. The first application of fertilizer was put down in mid April. When all the dandelions popped up in the beginning of May, Chip was questioned when he would be putting down the second application of fertilizer/weed killer. He couldn't put it down until 30 day after the first application. Many yards were full of dandelions and many residents were very unhappy. The second application was finally applied and most of the dandelions died. There were a few areas we had him reapply the weed control, but we were charged for this reapplication. If the weed control had been applied properly in the first place, would it have not killed the weeds in those areas?
Mowing and trimming began again in April 2014, and trimming was still an issue. Again, no crew. He did finally sub-contract part of mowing. When we would point out areas that were either not mowed or trimmed properly, he would state it wasn't his fault as the other company mowed and trimmed those areas. We would point out that our contract was with him and it was his responsibility to make sure all work was completed properly, no matter who did the work. It seems that Chip never agreed with this concept. Chip told a couple of residents that the lawn committee was too picky and would never be pleased. All the lawn committee was asking was for Band B Lawn to do the job properly that they were being paid for, i.e. cutting and trimming.
Proper trimming and mowing continued to be an issue with Band B refusing to take responsibility for any sub-contractors they hired. Late May, the lawn committee asked again about Band B's crew instead of using subcontractors. College students were out by then. Band B's response was that no one wanted to work any more.
In late May, Marvin from the lawn committee contacted Chip via telephone regarding trimming issues. Chip began yelling at Marvin. Marvin finally terminated the conversation by hanging up. Chip was very unprofessional during this phone call.
By the end of May the lawn committee decided to terminate the contract with Band B and hire another company. The contract had a 30 day cancellation clause. When the cancellation letter was hand delivered to Chip. Chip replied that he had decided to immediately terminate his contract with our community and indicated he no intentions of showing up the next week to mow, even though there was a 30 day cancellation clause.
He may do great work for an individual homeowner, but for a larger project, be very cautious.

"Customer you never paid full price for your contract! You can't possible expect to post a negative review based on all your complaints and never pay your total bill. I cancelled your contract myself because out of approximately 144 residents you were the only unsatisfied person. I exhausted more attempts to satisfy your complaints than you can even acknowledge. It was after your constant harassment and inappropriate behavior that I cancelled our agreement to the dismay of your other residents. By your own admission in your statement it was clear that I went above and beyond to try and cater to your needs by hiring more and more people. It is not uncommon for contractors to hire sub-contractors to perform work in order to satisfy an agreement. I find it difficult to understand how I have received numerous phone calls from individuals in your community discouraged that I am no longer taking care of this property. Two weeks ago the people that were doing the trim work were TIPPED! Impossible that you can deny this as they were tipped with a check and this was because of the great job they were doing. In regards to your fertilization complaints, the one person who was complaining about the appearance of weeds personally thanked me once they were gone, again you deny this even though you were standing right next to him when he said it. In addition to my character you called 3 references before you hired me and by your own admission each person spoke highly of my business, work ethic and knowledge. They were all current customers who have been receiving my services for over 15 years. It's a little confusing to me that they all could have mislead you as well. You hired me to do work, I did it, you did't pay for all the services, I cancelled the contract, simple as that. Your property, by your own admission, has hired 6 different contractors in the last 4 years. Now I know why."

we ordered a number of services from this company that have not been met. Our mulch was promised to be done by May 2 (per our contract) and is still yet to be completed and its May 21. We called May 4th to ask why this was not done yet and were given a verbal it would be done by the 9th. After it was not done by the 9th we tried calling and e-mailing this company and have gotten no where. I have gotten no money back and the services that were promised to be done, still have not been complete. When you call the office; half the time it does not allow you to leave a voice-mail and the company refuses to call back?

"The person named in this review was never a customer of ours. However the address listed on this inquiry has received a full refund minus the services that they were satisfied with. Interesting how they are able to still leave a fictitious complaint."

Overall experience was about middle of the road. Not terrible but not excellent either.
In reply to the provider response. I did make you aware of the problem after the first cutting and was told that the lawn could not be cut any shorter which is a complete falsehood since I regularly keep my lawn trimmed very short.

"Customer, I apologize if you feel your service was not as expected. If we would have been made aware of your concern anytime during the one month you were provided service we could have accommodated."

They are extremely professional, punctual and responsive to all my questions and requests. It is quicker for me to do business via emails, and I always get a response back within 24 hours. Their prices are also always lower than any other quotes I receive. They never charge more than the quote and give excellent service. I highly recommend them.
