Stan Dietrich was recommended to us by a local business owner who had not worked with him directly but had heard good things about him. He was a delight to work with from the moment he showed up to evaluate the roof and give us an estimate. He was extremely courteous, respectful, professional and in every way seemed very, very competent and trustworthy. That was our first impression and it proved true through every step of the job. We loved that he was such a good communicator, as well. He listens carefully and explains things really well, neither talking down nor over the heads of those who lack his expertise. He has a great ability to relate to the people he works for. His work is very, very efficient (I've never seen anyone work so quickly with at the same time such keen, perfectionist attention to detail). I don't know how he sustains his pace and intensity of focus, but he does it extremely well. Result: we got a job very, very well done in very quick time and at a price that seemed better than fair. Stan has a very experienced eye and good judgment. He clearly knows roofs and construction, and sees what needs to be done quickly. He looked the roof over, then sat down on the spot in our kitchen and wrote out a clearly-stated, detailed estimate. He was very upfront about what could not be known ahead of time and might present additional work or expense as the job progressed--so, no rude surprises later. He warned us ahead that there was likely structural damage in the rafters that would involve additional expense to fix, but that he couldn't give any realistic estimate regarding that expense until the roof was removed. Once the roof was off, he took me up the ladder to show me all areas of concern that needed addressed, explained clearly what our options were and the relative advantages and disadvantages of those options and let us collaborate in deciding the best course of action, with his expert input. He pointed out numerous additional areas of concern on the roof and gutters and explained how he could improve or fix them with little additional time and expense, sparing us additional costly repair work down the road. He works four days a week, from early morning to dark, taking almost no breaks, with a single employee assisting. I was amazed at quickly, expertly and cleanly the work was accomplished. He was meticulous about cleaning up at the end of each day and took pains not to damage our lawn turf when he drove his truck onto the lawn for the tear-off. We felt that our investment in our home was in very, very good hands the whole time. We had not a single complaint about this contractor's work.
