MERRY MAIDS

We hired this company to clean when we were moved into our new home. They literally did not clean the house and took $30.00 that was left out on the counter. When asked if I could get the $30.00 I was told no and that was their money to keep. When I asked why our house was not clean and we got charged..... we did not receive an answer and were ignored when we kept calling.

Very disappointing experience. From our 1st encounter where they tried to weasel out of a discount coupon in the newspaper to subsequent mishaps like forgetting which house was ours (same crew that had been to our house before went to the house across the street and called us at work to tell us we forgot to put out key) to missing surfaces while dusting and constantly having to be reminded to clean the dog smudges off front picture window. Too many incidences to list here. You would really think that for being one of the more pricey outfits in town (embarrassed to admit we paid $118 per appointment) you'd get superior service. That is clearly not the case. Will not be calling Merry Maids again.

They were very good. They were very professional.

The short version of the story is that while the owners were responsive, the cleaners did a horrible job.  The work was hurried and the original schedule shifted due to a snow storm so the cleaners came while I was away on a work trip and not able to supervise.  The next day when I quickly inspected the house (it was the day of the blizzard and the day before our big move), I noticed right away that very little was done.  The upstairs toilet had urine stains, the bathrooms did not look any cleaner than before, the kitchen cabinets inside and around were incredibly dusty, the floors were not mopped, the window sills and frames were not dusted ... basically most of what I needed them to do was not done.  I requested several times a list of what was done, but that never manifested.  The owners responded to my discontent but not without charging me the nearly $400 for incredibly poor service.  At this point, it was too late to remedy any of the cleaning in the new house since the movers were scheduled the next day so I attempted to negotiate that the house we sold be cleaned at no extra charge.  I was given only an "hour" and both girls who cleaned (I was present for that one) were genuinely trying to get through the house.  In the end the bathroom was left undone and I ended up cleaning along side them, but when the cleaners called in to report the bathroom undone, the owners didn't budge.   I will NEVER use Merry Maids again and will make sure to tell people I know about my experience.
