I would highly recommend Rudder Electric. Kelley Rudder is very knowledgeable, responsive and professional. As a single mom living in a new city I wasn't sure who to call & relied upon the reviews on Angie's list. Kelley Rudder committed to arriving within 24 hours of my call. It was a Holiday weekend and he didn't charge extra for a Saturday service date. During the visit, he ran new electrical wires to the new water heater, fixed an outlet in the kitchen and a light fixture in the bathroom. I was very impressed with the work he did & plan to hire him again in the near future for several electrical upgrades.
I had purchased a bank owned property that sat vacant for a couple years. Thieves had stolen part of the copper wiring from the home rendering the electrical systems inoperable. I contacted Kelly Rudder for an estimate to get everything up and running so I could get electric service turned on. Work was started on or about March 27th 2014, I was invoiced on April 3rd.
Once the service was complete, we had a temporary permit to turn the electric on, this is when the problems began. Circuits kept tripping and some didn't work, etc... Rudder had already been paid and attempts to get him back out to make repairs were followed by many promises to show up with many "no shows". The couple times someone did show up, it was disgruntled workers complaining about his troubles keeping help, etc. The workers he sent out acted bewildered and never really did anything, they would make excuses why they would have to come back and nothing got done.
As the weather turned cold, we turned the furnace on, that's when the house almost caught fire. Turns out, Rudder used 10 gauge wire for the all electric furnace that required 6 gauge wire. 6 gauge costs more money than 10 gauge so I believe he was trying to cut costs without concern for safety. The wire burned up, luckily the house didn't.
I attempted to resolve this with Kelly many times, and gave him the opportunity to correct his mistakes. I eventually contacted Payne electric to come out and correct his mistakes so we could get the house finished. Fortunately, they were able to fix everything with about 2 days labor and $1300. I asked Kelly to refund me $1300 of my payment to him, but of course, I never got a response.
I would steer clear of this company at all costs. I let his low bid entice me, but in the long run I ended up paying more. I wish I had hired Payne Electric from the beginning. I've used them many times since this ordeal and they have been 100% professional.
The service did not go well. I do not like where the new outlet to washer and dryer was installed, and I do not like that I went to all the expense for a solution to a problem that did not prove to be one. The provider did put a new outlet cover on nicely, but that did not require an electrician. I just wanted something done while we were waiting around.
of the service technician that completed the work. We will use them in the future.
