We called for estimates because we were told we had hail damage to our roof. Out of 3 companies that came out it was very clear that Midwest was much more experienced and very knowledgeable in this area. We hired them to work with us our insurance company and do the repairs that they covered.
Our insurance adjuster came out and was somewhat of a "cranky old man" type and started off giving us every reason why our roof probably would not be covered. Ray Yagelski who is the owner of Midwest was there to meet our adjuster. Ray was very patient and persistent at showing the adjuster all the evidence of hail. Even though I was sure there was no way that the roof would be covered Ray got the adjuster to agree to hail damage on the roof and 2 sides of our siding. We were very impressed and very grateful already.
and Ray came back to our house about 4 days later after him and the adjuster had agreed on the pricing. He spent 3 hours at our house going over every detail of what was covered and what wasn't. Then showed us all the available options that we had to save money, maximize our budget, upgrade the things that we wanted and so on.
Ray is a very competent and confident man but by this point in the relationship we could already tell he is the type of person that will do anything for you at any time no questions asked. It is so rare to find people with that type of integrity in this day age period, that we were extremely happy that this was our contractor.
2 weeks later Midwest came out to start the job as scheduled. They did the roof first and upgraded us to lifetime shingles and added ridge venting to the roof to help with our energy bills. The roofing crew was extremely prompt and courteous. They were done in 2 days. On the 2nd day Ray called us to let us know they would be finishing that day and that there would be one day off and then the siding crew would be there to start. Thursday morning at 7:30 the siding crew showed up and they also introduced themselves and were very polite people. We added 2 window replacements and a new front door and new sliding glass door, and we also upgraded to an insulated siding.
The siding job took a little over a week and a half. I LOVED pulling in the driveway after work ever since then. Our house is so beautiful now it honestly makes my whole day better when I pull in the driveway and see our house.
2 days later the gutters were installed in the morning and the outside of the house was complete.
Everything looked BEAUTIFUL and Ray and the office staff all did a fantastic job of helping get this all put together and communicating with us from day 1.... But the thing that amazed me most was how clean the crew members kept the job all the time. They cleaned up so well every day before they left I almost wondered if they were done and not coming back. The actual carpenters or installers at Midwest are absolutely awesome! They did such a great job I cant stop telling people how much I love my house.
The insurance paid to do a small drywall repair inside a bedroom and paint the walls and ceiling. Before they started that job we called Ray back out and changed that to a complete remodel where we made 2 bedrooms 1 large bedroom and a master bath.
This job took almost 3 weeks. Steven was the main carpenter for this job and he is the most thoughtful and courteous person in all of construction. We were hesitant at first to make this major change to the house but it was the best decision we have ever made. Steven kept a very tight schedule and communicated with us every day. He is a true perfectionist, after having Steven work on your home it would be impossible to ever let someone else come do anything at all. He really did an amazing job, and the way that him and Ray designed the layout looked good on paper but was perfect in real life.
I can not ever express to people how excited I am about my home now. I try to mention how much I love everything but I usually feel like i am starting to sound like I am bragging. It actually feels good to type on here over and over how much I love my home now.
I am very Thankful for everything Midwest has done for us. Me and my husband mentioned one night howl lucky we were looking back that we hired Midwest that first day before the insurance adjuster came out... and it gave me a nervous feeling in my stomach to think about had we hired one of the other companies that day. We probably would have been sitting in our house with the same old siding and no new master bedroom suite and not even known what we missed out on.
I guarantee anyone who uses Midwest construction will be happy... They are really a great local business. I will send them some cookies this year for Christmas, and probably ever year that we live in this house.

My experience with Midwest Construction was horrible. They never took care of the original problem. I had such a hard time with this company. They went to do the roof and didn't tell me there was a problem with my chimney, I had to find that out from other workers that were here. It ended up that my skylight was still leaking when they left so I had to hire somebody separate from them. I had to hire a separate chimney person and a separate roofer that came back and ripped the skylight out because I have the existing problem. It was the most horrible experience. This company worked so hard at trying to eat my insurance money rather than helping me out. I would just tell people to stay away. They made no real effort in trying to understand my water problems and I was paying cash from the insurance company. They left us so high and dry. My husband and I did all the work ripping out carpeting and tearing out drywall. It was such an awful experience. One brother owns it and has a father and brother that work for him and it seemed to me that he was just trying to provide an income for them and the other employees and I felt there was just too many people trying to suck money out of the situation. It was a nightmare. I had to refuse the carpeting. After my insurance company paid $11,000 the carpeting they chose was so low grade and so cheap I had to tell the carpeting guys they could not put it in my house. When I went to the carpeting store, they said they were glad I had the guts to refuse because the carpeting store didn't want to look bad, but Midwest would only allow them the cheapest grade. For months it was one struggle after another trying to get them to give me some type of quality work for my money. They try to get supplies that are going out of inventory. I had to find shingles on my own to cover a problem on a brand new roof but I couldn't find the shingles because they got shingles on clearance. The carpeting was the cheapest quality they could get and the roof that they used was a roof that was going out of stock so you couldn't even get more product six months later. They tried to skim and do everything as cheap as they could. I couldn't trust them to come to me with pertinent information I had to find out by something getting re-flooded. They weren't forthcoming on giving me information that I needed as a homeowner and it wasn't until another storm came that I found out the chimney or roof were still leaking. They just wanted to do the job, grab the money and go. People with any type of water issue should run from this company.

Any Customer considering a roofing job should check out one previously performed by a contractor first to insure that the work is done by code. This company did a very good job from start to finish.
We did see another neighbor thereafter utilize them as well:)
