Here are just a few items you can count on, if you work with Joey: 1. Expect timelines to not be met. He had a list of a few items to be completed for the home inspection. Nothing was done, literally. In total the inspector returned four additional times. 2. If tile floors are a part of your house, expect the tile to be installed on plywood, which will lead to tile cracking and grout crumbling/separating within days/weeks after installation. Further, expect the grout to be poorly laid and end up on your walls and counter tops, which is very difficult to remove. 3. Expect lights to not operate because his contractors install fixtures, but not properly wired. 4. Though his company may not install the furnace, you can bet if it does not meet the size requirements for the house in which they added on to, he will not make it right and update the unit to fit the new home’s size. So, by doing this, much of our house does not get proper heating in the winter months (or cool air in hot months). We had an issue with a lack of air movement and though he KNEW the furnace was too small, he blamed the air ducts to be too small. Joey said he would make this right, so we closed on the house and his contractor later came back to the house. One vent was not even connected and it was at this point, his contractor let us know that the furnace is not the right size. 5. Expect to find nails/screws all over your yard because he cannot manage his contractors to pick up after themselves. Due to this, you will have to rent a magnet sweeper before ever letting your pets or children run around, or before using the driveway as you will surely get a flat tire. Also, don’t be surprised if you find other debris in your air ducts, which thus gets airborne. 6. Expect Joey and his contractors to be no-shows when follow up appointments are set to make things right. He and his contractor will also not return calls/texts. It can very well be argued that these are things that we should have corrected prior to closing, but if you look into these items, just understand that he and his company are the type of people that you will be dealing with and will ultimately have to pay for, in years to come. He and his contractors cut corners, are negligible, and perform very sub-par work. It’s unfortunate that there are Joey Gaard’s out there. Joey is a salesman and can talk, but when it comes to integrity and him making sure things are done the right way, definitely steer away from him.
