Mr Handy Dan LLC

Dan looked the door over and determined the problem. I needed his help to order the part from the manufacturer and he got right back to me. After the part came in, he came and installed it. The door works so well--I can't even say how happy I am. I was afraid we'd have to replace it and instead it was able to be repaired for a fraction of the cost. I felt Dan charged a fair price for the repair. He was easy to get a hold of via phone call, text and email. I plan to call him in the future when we need things done and would happily recommend him to family and friends.

Dan painted ceilings and walls in our basement, installed (and painted) all new baseboards and door casings and painted the doors after things were torn up after flooding. He also installed new trim work in the stairway. When my husband came home after everything was done, he said "Who's house is this?!?" Dan did a great job, offers reasonable pricing and is very considerate and punctual.

Dan was friendly, efficient and skilled. His work was timely and precise. Dan knows his stuff when it comes to electrical work. My girlfriend and I were very pleased. Price was very fair. We plan on using Mr. Handy Dan in the future and would recommend him to our family and friends.

Dan told us that if we replaced the exterior trim with fresh wood and sealed it with paint, the bees and woodpeckers would leave it alone-- that the reason they had attacked our exterior trim was because it was old and rotting. Two months after Dan replaced it all for over seven hundred dollars, it was full of holes again. I had asked Dan at the outset if we should replace with PVC to prevent the recurrence of this problem and he said no, for the above reasons. But he was wrong. I am not a handyman and so I asked him for his expert advice-- and I paid for it! Moreover, when I wrote him to address the above, he blew me off and said he can't control the birds and the bees and told me to call an exterminator. However, had we gone with PVC I would have no need to do that, and I would not be out the $700+ I paid Handy Dan for his lack of expertise and useless repair job. If a professional makes the wrong call, the professional should eat the cost-- not the consumer. I should add that it took him the entire summer to do this job.

Dan showed up almost 4 times to try and get the job done. He never brought the right materials. He misstated his quote to us. He got paint all over the sides of our house. And then, when we contested his work, he put a lien on our house! Absolute jerk, and we will be following up to get our money back in small claims court. I DO NOT RECOMMEND.

Perfectly. He even noticed a space between the floor and wall of the pantry that might allow annts to enter, so he sealed that. He also noticed a missing piece of tile baseboard. Since I had the missing piece, he repaired that too. He not only removed the two shelves in my garage, he also disposed of them for me. I will definitely hire Matt again.

Dan is the kind of guy every customer that has had a horrible experience from prior service providers is looking for. He is very knowledgeable and capable of any task he performs. I have used, "Handy Dan", as he likes to be called for about 3 years now. I found Dan in the Indy Star ads. Dan was one of the best calls I've ever made. I have yet have to go behind him and clean any debris from his jobsite. Dan puts the integrity back into the service industry. Call, "HANDY DAN", before you call anyone about your next project. A very satisfied customer.

Very well. Dan came one evening to look at job (no charge). He did make an appointment to come the next day to install it but missed the date due to other commitments but failed to call. to cancel. i called him, he apologized, we made another appointment to which he came on time with his assistant (it was a two man job.). He brought all necessary equip. and they finished well within the hour ... and even did another small job i requested.

Dan and crew knew what they were doing, brought the right equipment, and repaired the rear deck that had been installed incorrectly by the original builder. They left the site looking as though it had never been unattached from the house.

Very pleased with the job done and the price. Our previous oven was smaller, so installing the new one involved cutting into the above cabinetry to make room for it. I couldn't find any service providers that had the skill set for the job, but Dan did an excellent job. Showed up when he said he would, quoted a very fair price, and actually came in lower when the work was done. The job only took him about an hour and a half. He was very friendly and professional. Already looking to hire him for another job! A+++

We are very pleased with the new bathroom. Dan and his crew are very knowledgeable and we will definitely contact him when we need work around our home completed in the future.

Received a quote from Dan and he confirmed he would purchase the materials. His employee Rick showed up and went right to work removing the old vents. It was a little challenging removing the vents from the concrete but he got it done. The installation of the new vents went well, he showed us how they work, cleaned up the remnants and we are pleased to have this job completed.

  I tried unsuccessfully for well over an hour to dislodge the chairger.  I called Dan this morning and he came this afternoon.  He was able to retrieve the charger pretty quickly, and now my door is closing as it should.  He was professional and friendly and I will absolutely call him a again

He was very professional, nice and helpful.  He came out once just to give me a quote and suggestion.  He came on the same day that I called.  He came back out to remove the old planks so that the drying underneath could begin.  The planks were custom made so we had to order them and stain them ourselves.  When they were ready he came out a third time.  He had to sand down some of the new planks because they were a fraction thicker, but was able to get them in and unless you are looking for them you cannot tell they have been replaced.  He made three trips and did not accept payment until everything was done.  Just a genuine nice business owner that wanted to give you his best work.

I met with Dan to estimate.  Following the written estimate, the work was authorized and started.  Turns out that the back door frame rot was worse than originally seen, so the estimate was revised.  The work was completed in good time and was done professionally.

Dan was great! Prompt response, willing to do all sorts of smaller handyman jobs. Friendly and professional. I would use him again.

Dan is good at what he does and is very fast, if he will respond.  I had a list of a lot of items, and got an estimate from Dan on all of them.  I explained they would happen over time, the following couple months and Dan was good with that.  One of the big ticket items was installing crown molding.  I worked with Dan and arranged to buy the crown, then attempted to call and have him install it.  I called several times with no response.  Then I emailed and got a response that he was busy but still interested.  I emailed a final time with no response and gave up.  

A curious issue came up regarding payment.  Dan had bid on a number of things in my home, some of which were partially done by myself and friends due to necessity and timing.  Dan has stated his hourly rate is $45, so I asked him if he could just work for me hourly on the jobs that had been partially done and he agreed.  However, on the first visit, he kept stating that "Most people prefer to work with the estimates".  I explained that I was fine with the risk of an hourly rate.  When he was done that day I paid him for the 3 hours he had been there, and he was clearly not pleased.  The only way I was able to get him to come back for the second visit (and finish some unfinished work) was to agree to pay the estimated amounts.  (Which were about twice his hourly rate from what I could tell).  He did the second visit, but left some things undone, because he wanted to spend time with his grandchildren.  I paid him his estimated rates on the second visit.  When he came back to finish the work on the third visit, I got the distinct impression he wanted to be paid again, but I had paid his estimated rates, so no money was due.  He made a point when he left that he would have to charge the estimated rates for the crown because he needed a second person do help do the work.  I told him I was fine with that.

I was finally ready for the big job, the crown molding.  I emailed and explained I was ordering it, and got no response.  Once it arrived I emailed to try to arrange a date, called, emailed again and gave up.  So use him if you have a simple job that he can charge double for......and one where you don't need him to be there long.  Otherwise, he doesn't seem happy with the rates he quotes.  I don't know why he doesn't just change his rate!

Interestingly enough, he insisted he would not be able to do the crown installation without another person.  I ended up doing it myself, alone.  I simply had the right tools.  I installed 16 foot crown using 2 "3rd hand" poles without any issue.  So, I'm not sure how often he's done crown.
