I refi'd my house with Cashcall Mortgage (out of CA). They used Daniel Lewis (Lewis Notary Services) as the notary to come to my house for the closing signatures.I was told the closing was 7/16/2012, on 7/6/12. He had 10 days to call me and schedule a time/location. I never received a call. I ended up having to call him the day of the closing (7/16/12) (strike 1). When I called him, we set up a time and location (11:00am at my house); He arrived at 11:15am, w/ no apologies for his tardiness (strike 2). He arrived, we started going over the documents, he didn't even know how to read the HUD to explain to me why he needed at extra $625 vs what the mortgage company told me I needed. I would thing if you are going to notarize a mortgage loan, you would want to know how to answer a simple questions on a contract (strike 3). Half way through the process, there were some blank forms that needed a signature, I wasn't comfortable signing blank forms for a mortgage (especially from a company in CA). He was rude and raised his voice at me "I'M NOT FORCING YOU TO SIGN ANYTHING!" (strike 4). I had had enough at that point and told the guy to get out of my house. I ended up closing later that day with another notary who was very pleasant and helpful.

We needed Notary services to close on a property that we are buying out of state. My wife and I both work in different central Indiana cities and needed to do this tonight so that we could get it back to the Title company in the other state in ~36 hours. There are not many notary services that operate after 7 PM. We were able to find Daniel Lewis on Angie's List among other online searches and he advertises 24/7 availability. So we called him around 8 PM, he asked us a few questions about what the matter was for and the timeliness needed and told us he would be out in about an hour. Sure enough, he drove to our house where we had teenager and a young adult home as well, which was great that we could do it all in our dining room.
He is very knowledgable about the closing process and explained the paperwork as we went along eventhough he had not been involved up until that moment. At the end, he offered to take it to FedEx for us and send it out for us. He even provided the envelope (the papers were emailed to us from the out of state Title Company).
My wife and I are busy professionals with a family and demanding lives. Mr. Lewis made this part of the process with little notice a great experience at the time and place that worked best for us. He is professional, friendly but business like, and a pleasure to work with. We will surely use him the next time we need a notary!
