We had quotes from 30,000 to 60,000. It was like some of these guys wanted to rebuild the house. Kenny Wood initially came in close but under the lowest, but still a little too much for our budget. We discussed it and he made some suggestions to save money but still get the job done. His guys came in the next week, got right to work and did an excellent job. I would definitely hire Kirkenlow again.

We live in an historic home that always presents additional concerns whenever work is done. Kenny and his team had an effective solution to each and every turn that came during the process of insulating and residing our house. His crews were a pleasure to deal with and very professional at all times. I wholeheartedly recommend them for your project and will be having them back here for future work. -Lee Harmon

It was excellent. They came and took the time to check each individual homes. 6 homes. Gave out reasonable prices. They were available when the materials came. They kept the job site clean. They cleaned up very well when they finished the job. They did a very good job. I am very satisfied.

The owner was great.   The crew arrive late but left on time each day.  The work required two follow up repair trips - and the second trip completed the job.  I'm happy with the finished work.   They were responsive to emails and phone calls.

They gave us a very competitive quote, and were on-time with the work.  They did a nice job and were easy to work with. It was about two years ago, and we have had no problems with the new siding.

The project did over run. It’s a large house, three floorings on one side. It was a big job. They got the job done and everybody said how good it looked. I would recommend them. Their workers were very courteous and polite. They knew what they were doing. The only problem I had which was not their fault, they had an hour and a half driving time each way to my house. That on some days presented few problems. I couldn’t say it’s their fault. It’s quite a distance from my house. On one section, I had had some of the cedar replaced with hardwood plank but they said it had not been done correctly. The manufacturer recommended them. That valued something. I went with that because I had no idea of what the price of a project like this would cost. In terms of responsiveness, I would give them a “B” and that’s probably because of the distance they had to come. I would use their services in the future.

we had asked that work not be done the week before our daughter's college graduation.  They called the weekend before and said a rooking crew was available and could do the work on Monday if we wanted to go ahead.  we said OK.  then it rained and they worked on Tuesday and then into Wednesday to finish.  the roofing crews did not always dump debris onto tarps, did not properly address an issue at the chimney leaving a gap above the facia (even though I had pointed out this condition during a walk thru for the bid), and, in my opinion, bent the gutters in two places.  When they fixed the roof at the chimney, they said they must have had some bad caulking because the first hot day after it ran down the side of the chimney in a black gooey mess.  They then had to come back again and clean the chimney and re-fix the problem.
The guy installing the bathroom vent duct  through the attic installed the wye backwards.
The siding crew replaced the moldy HardiPlank and trim.  They pointed out several other bad soffit locations that were not in the original scope and those were fixed by change order.  I had to have them come back and fix several sloppy joint locations, caulk places that had missed and fix other locations where the HardiPlank was installed against roofing but had not yet begun to deteriorate.  During the work on first return they tore a hole in the bedroom screen and we had to have them come back and take the screen off and have it replaced.  In general, their attention to detail and level of craftsmanship was not nearly as good as the work they had done in 2004.  They did eventually fix everything we asked for.  Next time I will look for someone better.

Overall, it was all right; but the crew that was out here was not punctual.  Sometimes they said they would be here, and they weren't.  It took a while to finish the project, so I have a kind of mix emotion; but I don't want one team to reflect the entire company.  A different team probably would have been a different result, and so far, the actual product on the house looks great.  I didn't completely understand that once they started, they were here, and they skipped a day, which wasn't due to the rain.  Once they said they would be here in the noon, and they didn't come again.  The individual that was in charge of the whole crew, he even said the head guy that is actually on the site goes by his own timings.  He also said if he is supposed to be here at this time, he doesn't show up exactly at that time, which can be later or the next day.  He admitted that it does happen with this particular crew.  It looks brand new and beautiful.  I am really happy with it.  They did a lot of extras.

They were very educational about the process as far as what work needed to be done, and what they were going to do. The price was very fair. They job itself was difficult, but they worked very hard until it was complete.

We made an appointment with Ken for an estimate. He arrived exactly when he said he would and gave us an estimate. He gave us several options or choices in our estimate such as pre painted or primed, replacing the over hang, framing the windows, etc. It was not just and all or nothing estimate. We were able to adjust what we had done to what we wanted to pay. The siding we chose had to be ordered. It arrived exactly when Ken said it would and his crew was here the next day to install. The entire job was completed in 2 1/2 days. During the job, the crew found that our house was missing insulation under some of the old siding. Work had to be stopped while they purchased the necessary extra supplies and still they were able to complete the work as promised. . We are very happy with the work, the time frame and the price. The supervisor visited several times during the day and at the end of each day to check on the work. At the end of each day, the our yard was cleaned of nails and trash and the supplies stacked out of the way. Quality product and quality work..

Larry from Kirkenlow served as my primary contact (Jason managed my roof work). Larry provided competitive estimates for various levels of work (extra insulation layer, house wrap vs no wrap, etc), making it simply a matter of picking and choosing what I wanted. The work was completed within the agreed upon time frame. There were a couple handfuls of minor debris left in the yard afterwards, but the work site was kept very clean otherwise. Initially we thought part of my back deck would need to be pulled up to get at the siding, but the installers found a way to crawl under the deck and get the siding replaced without tearing up the deck. There were a few nail pops inside the house, but nothing that wasn't easily repaired or unexpected. It's been a few months since the work was done, and there don't appear to be any leaks so far. The siding looks very nice, as does the new roof. The upgraded gutters are great! I'll be looking to use Kirkenlow in the future for other work around the house.

The price was between $15,000-16,000. It turned out pretty well, but not exactly what I was hoping. I had all of the boards pre-painted at the factory, and some of the boards are not the same color. I need to call them to come back out to have them paint the boards so they are all the same color. The workers worked hard and quickly, but could have been a little more precise in the workmanship. The salesman was great and very knowledgeable. I would have rather had this man come out with the crew, because I had to stop them because they were putting up the wrong moisture barrier. I called the salesman, and we got it straightened out. I am not sure if I would use them again in the future. Overall, it was a beautiful job, but it was a bit of a struggle at times.

"THANK YOU FOR YOUR FEEDBACK. PLEASE CONTACT US TO HAVE YOUR FIBERCEMENT PRE-PAINTED COLOR ISSUES REVIEWED BY JAMES HARDIE. WE APOLOGIZE FOR THE INCONVENIENCE YOU EXPERIENCED WITH THE WEATHERIZATION WRAP. KIRKENLOW USES ONLY THE TYVEK MATERIAL. OUR SUPPLIER SHIPPED THE WRONG PRODUCT, BUT THANKFULLY YOU WERE THERE TO CATCH THE MISTAKE."

OUTSTANDING! The project manager, Jason Smith, was very approachable and patient with my many questions. The punctuality and quality of the work was fantastic. In less than three weeks, my house was restored in like-new condition. When I look around at the other homes in my neighborhood that are slowly being repaired, the professionalism of Kirkenlow really stands out.
