If it wasn't for his carpenter, it would have been a disaster.  Our project took about 6 months to complete, and was about 6 wks longer than we were told it would take.  When he presented the final bill and we went over the pluses and minuses, we found out about several thousand dollars more in cost that he never mentioned until then, and he expected the total to be paid that same day.  It was significant and a big surprise that he never mentioned prior to finishing.  His son is an attorney, so expect to get nasty threatening letters if you push back for a better explanation and proof of the amount he says, which was not part of the original contract.
The renovation result looked good on the surface, but the amount of time, his demeanor and the cost overruns that we weren't told about until the end made this an experience that my family would like to forget.
Now that some time has passed we've learned that his electrician cut corners by not using ceiling fan mounting brackets.  They used standard light fixture mounts which aren't made to hold the added weight of a fan.  Of course, they knew from the beginning that ceiling fans were going in those locations.  The shower light fixture just fell out of the ceiling and we learned from our electrician that the light fixture wasn't correct for the mounting bracket and they had glued it to the ceiling.  Evidently, the moisture from the shower caused the glue to give and the light fell out.  What did they expect when we needed to change the bulb?
I could go on and on, but suffice it to say I would not recommend him for any remodeling job.  I overheard him once tell one of his workers he knows all the tricks.  Now I guess I know what he meant.

We are thrilled with the results! Jim worked with us to figure out what we wanted to do, offered recommendations, and because of his attention to detail things exceeded our expectations. This isn't our first time working with Jim and it won't be our last!

Jim's bid wasn't the cheapest price we received, but it wasn't the most expensive either. It was a very reasonable middle-ground price. We went with Jim because of personal recommendations from friends who had similar work done (and we went to see what they had done and liked it.)
We're so glad we went with Jim. He worked with us to decide what we wanted to do, providing recommendations based on his experience. The work quality was excellent, and Jim's attention to detail meant everything turned out just right. We loved using our screened porch all summer!

The project went well but, as with any project this size, there are developments that are unplanned. Important to us is that we were able to stay in the house while the work was performed. Jim made sure we had a working kitchen on all but a couple of days. The work started on August first and we had a goal of Thanksgiving completion, so it took considerably longer than anticipated. Rain damage in the middle of construction is responsible for some of the delay. Attention to detail may also be a factor (no complaints, here.) Delays in getting subcontractors here on time were also a factor.

I wasn't happy with one of his jobs. He himself does excellent work. The only thing I was not happy with was the tile job. He was very reasonably priced and super good about coming back on any call backs. He was excellent to work with, I really liked him. The guy just did a great job.
