We went straight to Angies List and got this company's name. Cathy Strawn and her group made this a smooth and understandable process. If we could give them A+++ we would! Cathy was professional, friendly, and brilliant. The same goes for all the people that she works with in her office. Because of her expert guidance, we saved a considerable amount of money! She was prompt responding to all our questions and kept us informed as to what to expect and to be well prepared for what was next. She provided some informal advice that can eventually raise our scores. We left her office knowing she was in our corner for this whole process.

I worked with Cathy Strawn. The experience was great. She helped me get a mortgage based on unusual income ( I am 48 years old and have started my own business. In order to supplement my income for the last two years I have taken occasional distributions from my IRA which are penalized.) Cathy provided excellent customer service and communication. She ended up having to do extra work with me after the deal fell through on a condo which I was attempting to purchase. The condo association had ongoing litigation with one of the residents which was not disclosed until late in the process. Once I found another property things went very quickly and smoothly. I would definitely recommend First Mortgage of Indiana.

My husband and I are in our late 50's and early 60's. We have been through the mortgage process a number of times in our lives...I only wish Cathy Strawn had been there for all of the other mortgages. Cathy is a PROFESSIONAL...simply said. The mortgage process is no longer as simple as going to your local banker and signing a few forms. Government regulation make the process very, very difficult. To compound our situation, I am self-employed. From the very beginning of the process, Cathy kept us informed every step of the way on what we would need to make the process go as smoothly as possible. Our calls were answered promptly...within an hour. Emails were answered within a hour...Cathy and her staff just worked very hard to earn our business. There were never any surprises...she gave us a list of everything we would need to get the process taken care of as quickly as possible. Start to finish...our refinance only took about three weeks...that is compared to six months for our last mortgage experience. Needless to say...if we ever get a mortgage again we will definitely use Cathy Strawn and her company...more than that...we will tell everyone we know to use her. OUTSTANDING EXPERIENCE!

It all went great. Cathy was wonderful to work with. She followed up promptly with all requests, was very friendly and pleasant to work with and secured a refinance for us at a better rate than most others, and in record time. I would heartily recommend her to all.

We had a wonderful experience with our refinance with Cathy at First Mortgage of Indiana. She responded quickly to our initial email inquiry. She was always quick to respond by email or phone to my questions. She led us through every step of the refinance process, explaining everything that we were signing. The closing was done in about 30 minutes. Best of all, First Mortgage of Indiana beat our bank's rate by over 1%! I wouldn't go anywhere else for my future mortgage needs (not that I hope to have many more mortgages in my future!).

The entire process went very smoothly. I only had to go to the office one time to complete the application paperwork. When I arrived for my appointment all of the paperwork for my file was completed and ready for review and signing. Michael kept me informed by phone and email of the status of my application and the closing was scheduled and completed very quickly. Michael was very professional and I appreciated that everything was handled quickly. The process with 1st Mortgage was much better than when I obtained my initital mortgage through another company. My initial mortgage was obtained through a national company based out-of-state and it was a very tedious and time consuming process requiring me to deal with several different people over the phone. With 1st Mortgage I dealt only with Michael and there were no surprises or delays. I now see the value of dealing with a local company. I would sum up my experience by saying that 1st Mortgage is very professional and efficient.

We were looking for a company to refinance one of our homes, our primary home and called a realtor that we had dealt with preciously. She reccomended two companies and we picked First Mortgage of Indiana. We are happy with our service and will use them again if necessary. The whole process was handled in two meetings. One at the First Mortgage office and one at Stewart title for the closing.

I had used this company prior to obtain a mortgage, so I decided to use First Mortgage of Indiana again. We had sold our home and were buying another. Michael Strawn, was great at accomodating both our busy work schedules and set out to pre approve us and meet us during the evening hours. He provided a list of documents for us to provide and afterwards he took care of the rest. There was a bit of miscommunication between him and us when we changed our loan amount and when insurance had to be complete. We were able to get both resolved and it did not slow the loan process. During the process we felt we could ask him any question, responsive, and was detail oriented. I was selling my house and closing the same day and his company had both loans which made it easier to ensure no problems occured. Both closed on time. Overall, it was a great experience working with him and we were able to use the Angie's list appraisal coupon to reduce fees.

I first contacted Michael Strawn about refinancing our home mortgage mainly to try and get rid of our PMI payment each month on our current mortgage. Michael was very good about telling us what we needed to bring to our meeting because I had already told him I couldn't take any time off of work and there was basically only one evening a week we could meet due to other family obligations. He met with us after 5 on the first day we had available. We were able to go through what the process was going to be, we locked in that night at nearly the lowest rate we could have gotten in the previous 24 months, and he felt very confident our house would appraise at the price we needed in order to eliminate the PMI completely. With only one follow up fax for the underwriter, and a few emails over the next couple weeks, we were closing before the end of the year. This was amazing to me, as we had just purchased our house 18 months prior and really didn't have a bad rate to begin with. To knock 75 basis points off of a 30 year fixed mortgage plus have the PMI premiums eliminated is now saving us a ton. Thank you Michael!

I originally contacted my current lender (Chase) to see if I could refinance two rental properties and take advantage of the low interest rates. They took my application and never contacted me. When I called Chase and asked about the status of my refinance, I was transferred to a third party (Lending Tree I think). After figuring out that Chase didn't want to keep a paying customer, I hit The List and found First Mortgage. Kim Hockaday walked me through the process from start to finish. These properties were a bit complicated to refinance, but Kim was able to overcome that because she really knew her stuff. She also maintained good communication via email and phone. The closing went through without a hitch. I would highly recommend both Kim and her company for all of your mortgage lending needs.

Cathy Clark, Senior Loan Originator, is an absolute professional. I have refinanced before and she is the best in the business. One month after closing, we received a reminder card from her to remind us to claim our homestead and mortgage exemption for our property taxes. She was in constant communication with us during the entire process. She also ran amortization schedules on different options for us.

Our experience with this company and its President, Ms. Cathy Strawn, was extremely pleasant. Cathy is an absolute joy to work with. Despite her workload, given the current financial situation, Cathy always stayed in touch. When I telephoned initially, I was advised that due to the current volume of inquiries, there may be some delays in her ability to return telephone calls within the same day. At first I was a little concerned, but those concerns were dismissed almost immediately as Cathy returned my telephone call the following day and obtained all of my contact information so that she could stay in touch without delay throughout the process. Cathy sent me a list of documents that I would need to bring with me for our initial meeting - during which we would complete the application together. Completing the application with Cathy took about 1.5 hours. After the application was completed, Cathy took care of everything and contacted me via email and/or telephone when necessary. Having done all of the research on refinancing myself, and seeming convinced that this was the right thing to do, I was a little nervous about the process as this was the first time I had taken this on by myself. It was really quite straight forward, and Cathy made certain that any concerns or questions I had were addressed immediately. I would highly recommend her, and would not hesitate to utilize her services again. Ms. Strawn truly understands the meaning of customer service.
