I The people I spoke with at First Mortgage were professional, courteous and prompt in answering any questions that I had. It was that their mortgage rates were about 1/4 point higher than others and they were unable to negotiate. I gave them a "B" rating, instead of an "A" because of the higher mortgage rates.

We talked with Cathy over the phone, she explained the whole process, and detailed the documents and information we needed. We gathered everything, meet with her, reviewed the terms and was very straightfoward on costs and the process. Our review with underwriting was done within two weeks and we were closing withing the month. Very quick and easy process. We did have an issue with taxes being paid timely from our old mortgage company. Cathy was reassuring in the process and gave us all the alternatives on how it would pan out if the taxes weren't paid by closing.

After finding First Mortgage on Angie's List, we called to set up an appointment to discuss refinancing. The appointment date was set around our schedule, took about an hour of our time, and provided all the information we needed to begin the refinancing process. Michael was extremely detailed about the process, cost, required paperwork, and time it would take to complete the refinancing. From the first meeting to closing took approximately one month with First Mortgage handling everything for us. Michael and his team made the process so easy, we would definitely use them again.

First Mortgage, especially Kim Hockaday, was a pleasure to work with. I had a very bad experience with Quicken Loans. Kim was exceptionally organized, and punctual with any correspondence. The loan closed in 30 days at a rate better than originally quoted. It was an easy and painless process and I highly recommend them to anyone. The service was very personal and I dealt with Kim only. There were no hidden or upfront fees like those at Quicken.

I first started using 1st mortgage of Indiana in 2008 to purchase a condo. I have used them 2 times since during purchase and refinance opportunities. Further, I have consulted with them several times since then as I sold two condos between purchases (my wife's and mine). 1st mortgage has been very response, and showed excellent customer service. I have called and talked to Michael several times for advice even when he was not involved with the deal. He has been a great person to interact with, and had continued to be an advocate for my wife and I as we bought and refinanced a new house. It is a rarity to find such great knowledgeable customer service. I truly can recommend 1st mortgage of Indiana to everyone for financing.

As far as buying a house goes, everything went smoothly from the financing standpoint. Michael made it as painless as possible for us. He kept us very well informed throughout the process and updated us regularly. He is a very good communicator which we appreciated. He was even at our closing, which I hadn't seen before. We feel we received very individualized and more personalized service than what we have received from "big banks" in the past. Michael moved the process along very quickly and was ready to close in several weeks (unfortunately our sellers weren't...that's an entirely different story). The only hiccup we encountered was not having 2 forms of ID at closing as this is something new the lender was requiring that I don't think Michael knew about. Luckily we had an insurance document in the car that met the requirements and were able to close. Bring 2 forms of ID to the closing table just in case!!! Would definitely use again and highly recommend.

I used First Mortgage of Indiana on the basis of all the glowing reports on Angies list and I was not disappointed. I worked with Cathy Strawn. I have bought and refinanced a fair number of houses but this was by far the best, smoothest and most transparent transaction I have had. Cathy explained everything very clearly and fully. I opted for a slightly higher mortgage rate with zero closing costs (costs all paid by First American). The closing was within about 3 weeks of my office appointment and there were absolutely no surprises. She was at my closing and even gave me a checklist of things to do such as mortgage deduction filing and making the first payment etc. Cathy is among the best professionals I have done business with in any field. I dont usually give "straight A" reviews but in this case it is fully deserved. Very highly recommended.
