We became aware of the problems in spring of 2012 when we discovered some shingles had blown off our home.  The roofing company we hired to replace the shingles discovered the overall condition of the roof and chimney. We attempted to contact the builder multiple times with no response.  Ultimately, it required showing up unannounced in his office to get a response.  He did send a roofing company out to assess the roof, and that company agreed that the shingles were damaged with multiple exposed nail heads and nail pops that required shingle replacement needed to prevent water damage and provided us and the builder with the report along with photos of shingles and chimney.  Builder chose to take no action and refused to return calls.  We got assessments and quotes from 3 highly rated roofing companies and all agreed on the condition of the roof and chimney and work required.  We continued to submit these reports and photos taken to builder and call with no response. We ultimately hired one of the roofing companies to repair at our expense. We then delivered samples of the damaged shingles and rotten moldy wood from the old chimney to his office with no response.  We have now gone approximately 5-6 months with no action on the builder's part.  This should not occur in a custom home with a roof less that 5 years old.  The work done did not totally replace the roof but was done to prevent impending water damage, and the other parts will continue to deteriorate.

THEY AND THEIR CONTRACTORS ARE VERY GOOD TO WORK WITH. JOHNS PEOPLE IN THE OFFICE AND ON SITE ARE VERY GOOD, RESPONSIVE, AND KNOWLEDGEABLE.
