HOMES BY DESIGNING WOMEN

Debra Walsh had an excellent reputation, and ended up building a very good home. I think this was in a large part due to her use of excellent subcontractors. Thourought the project she was fairly responsive but there were three or four periods of a couple week duration where we heard nothing from her. One of the biggest problems was that I could not ever get an accounting of what we were spending in relation to our allowances. She also tended to underbid on the allowances to have her total cost of the home appear less than it would really be. The biggest problem is that she mismanaged funds that was not evident until we moved into the home and realized that many of her subs were owed thousands of dollars. She would not return any of my calls, emails, or certified letters. She would not complete our punchlist at the end of the project, and her subs will not honor their warranties or complete their work since they have not been paid. From what I have been told by her subs is that even if she tries to build again, they will not work with her, and to be honest, they were the best thing she had going for her. The bottom line is that this shows she is a VERY DISHONORABLE person to steal money from myself and her subcontractors!! We are not talking about a couple of thousand, but tens of thousands. But I guess she needs some way to pay for her $1.5MM home and her daughters college education. BEWARE if you try to use her. At least stay in complete control of your funds.
