I would only have one suggestion. Everything was pretty much done via email/phone. When the guy came to measure, it was already discussed what we wanted done with the office. He didn't say much of anything besides exchanging pleasantries. He measured, said he was done and left. We have a cutout that looks from the kitchen to the living room. After the job was complete, we kind of wished we would of had a piece of granite put there to replace the wood that is currently there. I think it would be good when they come to measure, go over what you're having done, and make suggestions.
Other than that, they did a great job and were priced very fair.
Overall, the company just did not do quality installation for us.
After about 12 Appointments with Classic Stone scheduled to come to my house, you would think they could have gotten it 100 percent right, but they didn't. I am a very patient person and after that many visits I had had enough. They were late for several visits including the first one and were not able to finish what they were doing for several appointments because of poor scheduling/no help and/or not having the right tools.
From July 13 to Nov 13 we had a countertop that was not level/straight and a backsplash that did not sit flush with the countertop. They used caulking first to fill the gap, then they used clear silicone, then white silicone, then white epoxy, and then finally after I made a few calls to the Cambria Manufacturer, they had their men come back out to break the countertop seam and reinstall the countertop. After that, which was right before Thanksgiving, we were supposedly left with a level/straight countertop but the backsplash was still not visibly flush. Behind the sink and at the corners there was still a gap. Was it better than what it was when it was installed in July? Yes, it was better. But----the problem I had with it was that the clear silicone they used to water proof that seam looked dark grey where there was a gap, but white where there wasn't a gap. It was not a consistent look. Just imagine a white sparkly countertop and white sparkly backsplash with a no real visible seam where they meet in some places and in other places a very dark dirty looking seam. It looked strange and sloppy. We waited 24 hrs to do anything in the kitchen to allow the silicone to dry and were told it would look different when it dried, but it didn't. The silicone also Never dried behind the sink and with regular use of the sink and faucet it became sticky and tacky, balled up and just looked terrible. I had goopy balls of silicone everywhere. Actually, every time Classic Stone was at my house to install caulk, epoxy, or silicone, I was left with smudges and little pieces of whatever they used Everywhere. It lot of fun to clean up ( sarcasm).
I never got a clear answer as to why we had all these problems with the way our backsplash was laying on the countertop. From what I can gather after many visits with a Cambria Tech for Indianapolis (Jacque) this is my understanding:
From day 1 installation was not done correctly.
The countertop was cut short (not templated accurately). They could do that and it would be hidden because the backsplash would sit over that gap. My advice to the homeowner is to look at the measurements they have written to make sure the countertop will sit against the wall. If ours did, we would have just done away with doing a Cambria backsplash. Had we not had a Cambria backsplash, we would not have known the countertop wasn't straight/level.
The backsplash was also cut short by Classic Stone and they used a corner piece where the 2 backsplash pieces meet...messy looking and the seams are not tight. The bottom of backsplash also may have been cut ever so slightly uneven or slightly rough which will effect how it sits on the countertop.
The seam of the countertop was not put together properly and they used the wrong adhesive. The 2 countertop pieces now come together against an epoxy which is not white. You can see the seam well. Steven from Classic Stone said our countertop is a hard color to match. Ok, understandable, but...should he have used a grey ish Creme color epoxy? No! They have the tools they need to make a better color match.
When they install a countertop and backsplash, they allow for varying tolerances (slight variances in measurements) and if I can remember correctly, I believe 1/16 is what they aim for. At one point we were much larger than that. I think we ended up with 1/16 in some places, 1/32 in others, and behind my sink I would guess it is somewhere between 1/8 and 1/16 and not a long consistent measurement. The corners are definitely greater than 1/16....not good.
I don't think I am a difficult customer. Since it was not installed properly, the 2nd time they came out they should have been able to determine that and do what was needed to be done to fix it. Instead it took a ridiculous number of visits, to try and make it look better without getting to the cause....very very wasteful of my time and theirs and annoying. I love the Cambria I chose but i would choose another quartz from another manufacturer next time. Training for how to install this product is sub par. We have had Silestone and granite before and never encountered anything like this.
There is so much more I could share about the work of this company and details about the process but at this point I am just done with them. I just hope homeowners pay a lot more attention to the beginning process than i did. I wish i had because i would have questioned the measurements, the installation process, and i certainly would not have paid them until i knew we were satisfied. A tech from Cambria in Minnesota did the final fix of our backsplash and it visually looks good, not great, but something I can live with. They used a white silicone caulk where the backsplash meets the countertop and a couple weeks later it looks good. I don't know how durable it is going to be near my sink so we shall see....
The only "trouble" we experienced was when a contractor that Classic Stone/Jeri used quite often for plumbing and construction projects associated with remodels attempted to refinish our existing kitchen hardwood floors. They clearly did not know what they were doing and after 2 weeks of attempting to refinish the floors, they made a huge mess and left us with hardwoods that had to be completely stripped down and redone. Jeri was equally frustrated and went into damage control mode. She realized the work was below quality and caused nothing but problems. She immediately paid to have our house professionally cleaned throughout to remove all the dust and took a significant deduction from our bill to compensate for the floors. She handled the entire thing with grace and professionalism. Sometimes it's how you handle a problem that shows how good you really are. (Note: we brought in Brothers Flooring to fix the floors and they did so in 48 hrs--see that review for more details!)
In any event, we would gladly work with Jeri again and hope to this year, as we redo our front entryway and eventually our master bath. We absolutely love our new kitchen and half bath. They are beautiful!!
Once we decided on going with them, they were good about setting up the initial field measure. Nick came out with a very sophisticated infared measuring system. He was very knowledgable technically and answered a lot of questions.
Scheduling for installation was reasonable. Installers arrived on time. Everyone who came to the house was profesional and seemed to know what they were doing.
Installation involved an overhang of 13" - such overhangs are recommedned to be reinforced with rebar/epoxy routed into theunderside or catilevered externally with steep supports. After some discussion with people back at the shop and one of the owners, the end decision was, yest, this install needed rebar. But when the installation crew arrived it had not been done. They tried to convice me the granite was strong enough, but since I had been told otherwise, I had them take the piece back for correction.
The other thing we noticed was at the only seam, the two slabs did not match - one was much darker than the other. We might have been able to live with that but Traci called us back to say that they were cutting a new piece. The piece with the overhang was installed the following week. Two different technicians came out to the house on two different occasions to take photos pof the seam. Eventually they delivered 2 new pieces - one very dark and one very light.
Neither of these matched any better tha the original. And the technician was unable to break the epoxied seam after several attempts with different tools. He said another technician with more sophisticated equipment would be out the following weeks. This time a no show and a seam that was chewed up from removal attempts. We sent an email asking how they were going to resolve this.
Finally after 5 weeks we got a call from Dan, one of the owners. He came out promptly the next day, looked at the problem and suggested using a chemical enhancer to blend the two pieces. A technician came back 2 days later but the enhancer did not work as planned. Jared spoke with Dan over the telephone. Jared took additional photos and promised that having seen the project in person, he felt confident he could go thru the "boneyard" and fined a matching piece.
As you can see they company has made a concerted, though inconsistent effort to resolve the situation. We still have faith that it will be fixed. But we think they could have saved us and themselves a lot of time by improving their internal communication.
Jeri and her team did a beautiful job. She spent several months (off and on) helping us design our preferred look. We visited three different granite showrooms and made multiple trips to The Tile Shop to pick our countertops and back drops. They gave us samples to take home and left some pieces with us for future matching or repair. Jeri modified her quote multiple times as we refined and changed our ideas and there was never a complaint, a rolling eye, or a delayed response.
Their tile guy (Javier) did a great job, as did the granite installers.
I would not hesitate for one minute to recommend this company. They were a true pleasure to work with.
Ask for Jeri if you need a design consult!
(The way Pioneer Kitchen and Classic Stone work together to create the countertops is pretty slick. This allows for a quicker completion of the kitchen remodel. Traditionally, the countertop folks come to do a template after the base cabinets are installed. Then, the homeowner waits a couple of weeks for the countertops to be fabricated and installed. Not so in this case. Pioneer provides Classic Stone with a schematic and then Classic Stone comes to the house to measure the walls with a laser. This allows Classic Stone to make the countertops before the cabinets are even installed. Pioneer installs the cabinets, Classic Stone comes out the next day and installs the counters. No waiting. Wonderful.)
Classic Stone called me to schedule a time for measurements. Classic Stone arrived on-time. There was a miscommunication somewhere because the Classic Stone technician thought the base cabinets were already installed. They were not. Classic Stone spoke with Pioneer and a measuring date was rescheduled. Classic Stone came out on-time and took wall measurements with the laser.
On Day 2 of the cabinet installation, Classic Stone came out and installed the countertops. They tweaked them a bit to get a better fit. The countertops are white so the seams are more visible than a dark countertop. However, they are minimal and you have to look for them to see them. Quite lovely.
All of the workers I met were very friendly and knowledgeable.
We met Jeri at the warehouse to look at slabs and found an absolutely amazing one with blue, grey, and brown swirls - it was so much better than the plain color we would have gotten.
On install day, they showed up right on time and were done and cleaned up shortly after lunch.
We could not have been happier with the entire process!
They were very flexible and easy to work with. We were in a hurry to get this project done and they were very accomodating. I told them what I wanted, and they brought out samples to me so I didn't have to go to their showroom. They were very pleasant and personable and explained the whole process and answered all of our questions.
The new countertops look great and exactly what we wanted.
Jeri, coordinated the whole process from finding the granite/tile to be removal of the old counter top, and installation of the granite counter top/tile back slash.
It was an efficient process and professional workmanship.
Jeri, was very responsive to any of my questions or concerns.
I am very pleased with the new kitchen and would highly recommend Classic Stone.

The installation went without a hitch. The pieces fit absolutely perfectly....the seam is totally invisible.
The finished project is breathtaking!
We would highly recommend Classic Stone with any reservations!!!
