 + 1 moreI was very satisifed with the quality of the work. When working with Mr. Border, you need to realize that it is pretty much a one man show, so scheduling and contact can be bit difficult (reason for the B grade in responsiveness). Once we established the date, things went smoothly. The cost of pressure washing and staining was lower than other estimates I had gotten from neigbors doing similar work.
Description of Work: Border's Carpentry was initially used by the person who we bought the home from to do inspection repaires. Part of the work on this review was to finish some deck repair under the sale agreement and some additional deck repair and staining. I used Border's for repair and staining of my deck, walkway and dock. The repair work that I paid for consisted of removing 13 6x12x1 treated pine boards (8 more were done under the home purchase agreement) on my deck and replacing them with new ones. The replaced boards were all screwed into the support beams without having to request that approach. The deck is 25x15 ft and the dock and walkway added another ~200 sq. ft. The entire area was pressure washed and then stained with an HOA approved color.

 + -1 moreHe tore out our existing bathroom and installed the new cabinets and plumbing, which included new faucets and sink. There were challenges with the cabinetry, but he was excellent in figuring out how to make it all fit together. The actual cutting of the wood and the trim work that he does is superb. He sometimes does not return phone calls, so it may take him a few days to get back to you, but we were very pleased with the overall job and we would have him come back out again.
Description of Work: He assisted us with a master bathroom remodel - he installed a new shut-off valve for the garden bathtub as well.

 + -1 moreTHEY DID NOT COMPLETE SOME SMALL ITEMS THINKING THE HOME INSPECTOR WOULD NOT CATCH THEM. THE INSPECTOR DID CATCH THEM. ITEMS THAT THEY DID COME BACK TO REPAIR DID NOT REMAIN IN STATE OF REPAIR SO ANOTHER CONTRACTOR TOOK CARE OF THEM AFTER I WAS TOLD BY JOHN BORDER THAT HE WOULD REIMBURSE ME THE $85.00 EVEN THOUGH HE THOUGHT IT WAS HIGHER THAN WHAT IT WAS WORTH. JOHN IS A SEEMINGLY NICE GUY SO I AM QUITE SURPRISED THAT HE HAS CHOSEN NOT TO REIMBURSE ME AS HE VERBALLY PROMISED TO DO.
Description of Work: PREPARED MY HOME FOR RE-SALE.
