Our dog D'Arcy had a wonderful day at Best Friends in Carmel.  The facility is clean and organized and the staff is warm and caring.  We dropped her off around 8 am and when we picked her up around 5 pm we found a happy exhausted dog.  D'Arcy is fairly young and active, but she fell asleep before we got out of the parking lot.  A good day for all of us,

They customize their services to the specific pets. So if the animal does well with other animals, they have group play time. If they don't, they are okay being alone. They sort of listen to the owners. The staff seems to from time to time remember your pet when you return. They gave you an individual report card when you return.

We are regulars at Best Friends and love that there is always someone with the dogs watching them for bad behavior and constantly mopping up any accidents during daycare. Plus they do have a playtime live camera so you can view the play areas at all times. The employees are always warm and friendly at drop off and pick up and my dogs come home happy and exhausted from their play time. We normally just do a half play day in the afternoon which costs $15 per dog a few days per week. They also have done the overnight stay and play and all went very well then too.
We love Best Friends in Carmel! My dogs are always excited to go there and sleep like babies when they come home.

My experience went very well. I was pleased with the outcome of the training so far. The staff was friendly and professional while visiting. The pricing was reasonable and I would recommend this company to others.

One has to assume a lot, dogs aren't on a Nanny-cam or anything like that. We judge by cleanliness of the kennel, the ability of our dogs to get outdoor time, location of the kennel, conversations with staff, etc. Since our dogs don't seem to be any worse for wear when we pick them up, we have to assume all went well. It would be nice if they could talk...lol.

Everything went well. I needed to get my Beagle done quickly and they were able to get him ready in time for me to pick him up. I have been using them for around 15-20 years.

They emailed us while we were gone to let us know she is ok, and you get a report card to let you know how they did. She always seems happy when we pick her up. We have been very pleased with their service.

It's been a very good experience. they give very personally experience to the pet and the owner as well. They enjoy what they do. They are very kind and friendly.

It was great. They have a very friendly and welcoming staff. We felt very safe leaving our new puppy with them.

They were supposed to keep my two Yorkies from Sunday to Sunday. My friend went to pick them up Thursday and when she got them in the car she noticed that the collars were on the wrong dogs, they also had feces and leaves stuck in their hair on their backsides, and finally one of my dogs had yellow pasteurizing from one of her eyes. They also smelled very bad, and all that they offered was to give the dogs a bath.

It went great. I dropped him off and he had a good time.

When I came in to get the dogs, the young attendants were not aware that my friend had called but were trying run my friend's bank card through the card reader for payment. I told them that she had called Wednesday early so there would be no problems with me picking up the dogs. I asked why the "girls" had not been groomed. I was told they were scheduled to be groomed right before my friend came to pick them up on Sunday. I asked why they smelled like poop and were a little too excited to see me. They had no answer but put all the blankets, pillows, tools in a black trash bag. They didn't even have the correct collars on the dogs. These collars had name tages because yorkies do look alike. They seemed to concentrating on getting the bank card to work. I asked if they took American Express (they do). I paid the bill because the dogs were upset and I was getting angry because this place was supposed to be very good. The dogs smelled horrible and were acting hungry. My friend was called immediately and told about the condition of the dogs. She called the manager but was put through to voice mail. I brought the dogs home to my house to play with my dog, feed, clean the them up and calm them down. My dog, who is an alpha female daushund, became very upset and cried and whined around her little friends. She allowed them to eat first - that doesn't happen. I took them up one at a time and manually picked the leaves, twigs, poop off of each dog as I spent 45 minutes at least with each dog washing, and cleaning them up. I gently brushed them and still had to remove stems and twigs that was twisted in their fur. I noticed the pus and red eyes on 1 of the dogs after I removed the sticky food, eye discharge from her facial hair as I washed her. My friend received a call Friday morning from "corporate office" and they seemed to not care about making this right, refunding any money or even caring about the condition of the dogs. My concern is that the dogs were not cared for properly and the "grooming right before pick up" is masking some of the inappropriate care the animals which are boarded there are receiving. I cannot believe giving quality"cuddle time and a bedtime story " to a dog who smells like poop is possible. These yorkies nibble on their food at will and do not eat at set times. The way they went after the dry food at my house was quite apparent that they were hungry and drank water everytime they came near a water bowl. I put down 3 extra bowls and had to refill them. My belief is the dogs were not fed or given water appropriately. They have been boarded there before but never picked up early. Their regular groomer is contracted through Best Freinds Care (like a beauty shop rents booth space.) These people should be familiar with the dogs and their special needs. If I wasn't so upset and wanting to get the dogs in a safe calm place, I may have been alittle more vocal with my displeasure. My friend will be writing a review and asking for help with a dispute with these people. Because I paid the bill, I may ask for your help too with a dispute with Best Friends Care Gradle Rd. Carmel, IN. I have placed the charge to my Amercian Express Card in a disputed charge state and they are very willing to help me with this. Now, my concern is with those other animals who are there supposely receiving top care and this "grooming before pick up" is hiding unsafe conditions. Animals covered in waste. Dogs being very thirsty, hungry, and having pus/possible infections in their eyes, twigs, leaves, other material left in their fur is not safe. I believe the Hamilton County Animal Protection people should check this out as well as the local ASPCA. I am unsure how things are turning out because my friend is handling the company because she set up the boarding arrangements. I just picked up the dogs and paid for it. She is so upset she can't even speak of it. I do not board my pets because of this type of inappropriate care. I use in house babysitters or family.

Overall, I was not impressed. At check in, the person checking in was not at all curteous and acted like it was big imposition to change the setup and put two of my kitty's together. On pickup day, we arrived 5-10 minutes early, went to the front door because the lights were on; but it was locked and they did not offer to open the door. So, we went to the side to look at the dogs outside and three employees were standing there in one of the kennels smoking cigarettes. It was now only 5 minutes early and when I asked of they could let us in to pick up our cats, they said they didn't open until 3 and turned away. This is the first time I've ever had to board a pet; and I thought the price was outrageous. That said, I don't have anything to compare to - I used this place because my vet recommended them. They sent home comments on each of the pets and I don't believe them. I paid extra for cuddle and play time - the comments were basically the same for all 3 cats - saying they were loving/cuddly when one of them does not like to be held at all. One of my cats was all slinked up by the wall - when I asked if she was like that the whole time I was gone, both of the ladies helping me get them in the carrier said they didn't know. Also, one of the cats has been sneezing since we picked him up - going to the vet today to find out what the issue is. I'm worried he picked something up there.

We were very pleased. When my husband went to pick her up, she seemed to be content. They gave us a written report of how she did there. They also sent us an email update of how she was doing with her picture in it which we appreciated.

It was clean. We have a greyhound. She does not like other dogs. She only likes other greyhounds. The resort that we normally board her at was full so we had to use someone else. She wasn’t quite happy about it.
