Furniture - Sales
Cincinnati Overstock should not hire contractors for delivery. Their internal people are excellent, on time, pleasant, everything that you can say positive. However the delivery man James was horrible. I had thought the delivery was Thursday and received no call no delivery. He also kept texting me when I do not even have a cell phone. When I explained this to Cincinnati Overstock they sent me over to an internal group that was wonderful, quick, and kind. It was unbelievable the difference in the outside people versus the outside. Charlie and two other men moved things quickly and wonderfully. You should request in house delivery. They would have gotten higher ratings if they had outsourced delivery in the first place.

Furniture - Sales
On 3/29/14, we purchased a large Ashley sectional sofa from this company. We weren't in a rush but were hoping to have it in time for visitors staying with us 4 weeks from that date. The salespeople were helpful but not pushy, and made a point of stating that they do not work for commission. The man who took our order, who represented himself to us as the manager, told us the delivery time is usually 2-3 weeks and it is extremely rare for it to take longer than that. I noticed at the time that he was noncommittal on the delivery date but because we were not in a hurry it didn't bother me. I price-checked our purchase across multiple sellers online and believe we got a good deal on the item we ordered.
I tried to be patient... I really did. No new sofa in time for visitors. Silence from Cincinnati Overstock. Nearly 6 weeks came and went - almost double the delivery estimate - before I gave them a call. We received three different delivery time frames after that, including news that our sofa was supposedly on backorder until August, etc. Each time, WE were the ones calling THEM. It really irked me that when they received word from the manufacturer that our purchase probably wouldn't arrive for multiple months that they couldn't be bothered to pick up the phone and let us know. That's just bad customer service, in my opinion.
Our sofa was finally delivered on 6/14/14, 11 weeks from the date of purchase. At the time they called to schedule the delivery, my husband reminded them that we had paid for Scotchgard, which was supposed to be applied prior to delivery. The person on the phone agreed and the delivery date was set. When the sofa was delivered, no Scotchgard had been applied and the delivery person knew nothing about it. As it stands, we have a beautiful brand new piece of furniture sitting in our family room covered in 12 different blankets in an attempt to keep dogs and family members from ruining it before we've even had a chance to use it.
I called Cincinnati Overstock to complain about the missing Scotchgard and was told that I should contact the delivery company. (We didn't pay the delivery company. We paid Cincinnati Overstock. Why are we expected to deal with problems caused by their contractors?) It has now been three days and still no Scotchgard.
I understand that a delivery estimate is just that, an estimate, but I found the lack of customer service appalling. We paid for the sofa in full - over $1,500 up front - and they sat on it for almost 3 months without bothering to initiate communication with us regarding the status of our order. On the bright side, at least they refunded our delivery fee.
The bottom line: Despite the low price, I probably won't put myself through this headache again.

Furniture - Sales
Buying the furniture is easy and the prices are fantastic; that's where they get you. Don't expect to get your furniture for at least a month after you purchase it. Scheduling a delivery of your furniture is a nightmare. If you buy at their Erlanger, KY location, you will have to deal with their secretary, Jennifer, who DOES NOT call back and lies. Yes, I said she actually lies to you. My wife and I were told that the furniture would arrive in two weeks; we called after two weeks and Cincinnati Overstock claimed that the furniture didn't arrive at their warehouse, and they would call us as soon as they finished unloading their next truck (the furniture should have been on a truck a week ago). No phone call. We called back the next day and received the same news. Why didn't Jennifer call back like she said she would? Who knows...they must have been unloading the same truck for days because each day we called back, we received the same answer. Finally, after hounding these people every day for a week, they decided to deliver our furniture on a day that Jennifer originally said that they did not deliver. When the delivery company arrived (who was very adamant about not being affiliated with Cincinnati Overstock), their driver told me that his company delivers for Cincinnati Overstock seven days a week. There were two pieces of furniture missing, so we started another series of phone calls that lasted two more weeks, trying to get the rest of our furniture. Jennifer told us that they would not deliver the other two pieces since they already delivered the majority of the furniture; we would have to come to their warehouse and pick it up...but wait, it wasn't delivered to their warehouse just yet. They will call us when the chair and nightstand arrive, which should be during the week. At the end of the week and no phone calls, I called back and Jennifer told me the missing furniture might be on the next truck. Here we go again. It gets better. Cincinnati Overstock did not know that we were still missing a nightstand, so I had to scan and email a copy of the receipt to prove that we were still missing a nightstand along with the chair. "It will definitely be in tomorrow," said Jennifer. So, I rented a truck to pick up the chair and end table and called the company to see what time I can pick them up. Again, the chair and end table did not arrive, but they might be on the next truck. It has been a month, and I am still waiting on the missing furniture. Do not trust these people, especially from the Erlanger location. The employees on the sales floor are super nice and willing to cut you a deal, but over the phone this is the most unprofessional company of which I have had the misfortune of dealing. Pay more at another location so that you get your furniture and don't have to deal with these people!
