My yard has not looked better. Very happy with the service and the look of my yard.

I'm so happy we went with Grass Roots! Marcus is very kind and personable and takes pride in his work. Our yard has the GREENEST grass on the block because he uses superior product. When he came out to aerate and seed, I was unable to move our soccer goal, hoses, and a few other things in the yard. He moved all the things and didn't even mention it; I was so grateful!

I have only had one organic treatment thus far but my lawn looks better than it had in the last several years when I used another company.

Super! After moving from the north side to the south side and into a new home where we needed to establish the lawn from scratch, we initially had a hard time finding a good lawn service. Grass Roots (Marcus, the owner) really came through for us. He really gave attention to checking the condition of the lawn each time, giving us good advice and individualized attention. So many of the other services just drop the product and leave a bill. The lawn looks amazing now. He even took time to overseed a few spots in the fall that were a little bare without charging us.

We signed up for five step fertilizer and weed control. So far, the lawn looks great! The weeds are gone and we have grass!

Showed up promptly and gave an estimate. Knew exactly what to do in problem areas that suffered a fungus the year before.

I have been using Grass Roots since its inception. Joe and later Marcus have always done an excellent job. I have had an annual contract with them for about 25 years and have always been pleased. My grown children and two neighbors have signed on and also been pleased.

We are very happy with the service we have received. Communication has been great and our lawn looks amazing! I have and will continue to refer people to GrassRoots. I really wish I had taken before pictures to compare to how amazing it looks now.

This was the worst experience I have EVER encountered from a lawn specialist. The first partial season with the company was at the end of the 2015 season. On a pretty regular basis, Marcus, the owner, would get "confused" on the billing and bill me repeatedly for the same treatment dates even though I had already paid. When I would ask him about it, a typical reply was, "sorry, I did not double-check that earlier payment before I sent you the total!" After that kept happening, I just paid the entire season in advance. The problem then went to me being billed for individual treatments even though I had already paid for the season in advance. It was frustrating, to say the least, but things were about to get worse! Although I prepaid the entire season for 2016, the service was worse than terrible. In fact, when I finally had to abandon Marcus and Grass Roots Lawn Service, another company said my lawn was "severely neglected" and they questioned whether or not my lawn was actually being treated at all! The official diagnosis read that my lawn had severe issues with "crabgrass, Dandelions, Oxalis, and Yellow Nutsedge. In some areas, it is so bad that I am going to have to replace with new sod. My lawn is actually an embarrassment, as I live in a very nice neighborhood and, without a doubt, I have the worst lawn on my street. Finally, I had the uncomfortable conversation with Marcus to discuss the lawn. He came out and treated again and a few weeks later it was not much better. I contacted Marcus yet again and explained that the lawn was a mess and that since he had been to the lawn and re-treated but had provided no follow-up or recheck of the lawn, I thought it was best to part ways and that I thought it would be fair for him to refund what I had paid. Marcus offered to only refund the amount for the remaining treatments. I thought about this and decided that I felt since the season had been a disaster and my lawn is going to require serious action to correct the damage, it would be more reasonable for Marcus to simply refund the entire season. He reluctantly agreed to do so. However, and disappointingly, I never received a refund from the company and Marcus did not even have the decency to answer a single call or respond to messages. In fact, throughout the entire process and relationship, Marcus never once spoke to me in person or on the phone. He limited all contact to text message only. I am now forced to seek remedy in Small Claims Court and will do so as a matter of principal. Needless to say, not only would I not recommend Grass Roots Lawn Service or Marcus Hoone, I would suggest you stay far away from this service provider. The quality of the services was terrible, the communication was terrible, and the billing practices were terrible. I have absolutely nothing good to say about my experience with Marcus Hoone or Grass Roots Lawn Service. Although Marcus agreed to treat the mulch beds in addition to the lawn, he admitted that he never did so when I questioned him on it. He even denied agreeing to treat the mulch beds until I showed him the detailed correspondence. He then simply said, "it was an oversight."

Marcus is awesome! We bought a property that the lawn had not been maintained since at least 2012 and it showed. Marcus met with us and discussed a plan of action. He promptly returned to begin treatment of our mostly crabgrass lawn. The results by the end of fall were great. Neighbors were stopping by to talk to us about how much we had done with the lawn in such a short amount of time. I am extremely excited to see what other magic he performs on our lawn this year!

I had very specific results that i wanted to accomplish with a lawn treatment.  Marcus took the time to address those concerns and have a plan to meet those results.  Although I have only had 3 treatments, the grass is already seen improvements. I plan to continue the whole fertilization treatment in 2016

We don't use them anymore just because our landscaping is different now, maybe six years ago, but I would recommend them. We would still use them again but we don't need them anymore. They're very dependable. We didn't have to call them. They would just come out when you set up a schedule with them. It was the owner at the time we used them. The owner did the work.

He does a great job and is dependable. I have used him at several locations.

Marcus is great. My lawn looks awesome. He charges me a resonable amount to treat my alwn for weeds and seed my yard. He only suggests what is necessary. He is easy to reach and always gets back with me. I will continue to use him. He has been out several times and my yard has been dandelion free since he started coming to my house! I am just waiting for all of my neighbors to start using his company. Top quality and always responsive. I had used scott's and tru-green for a while but it was like calling the cable company when i needed anything. I like that I can call him directly.

It turned out well. It is $30 a treatment. They are very good.

Perfect. Marcus is fair and honest as to what your lawn needs. He will treat your lawn in a package deal of multiple treatments or let go one at a time. He calls ahead when its time for your next treatment and doesnt just show up. The bottom line is my dandelions where gone and the yard was noticably better looking very quickly and looks even better after the second treatment. Highly recommended.

The schedule visits are always on time and provide great results.
