Kevin and Alice Priessman's Whitetail Acres started in 1984 as a Christmas tree farm nestled in the fertile Indiana countryside near Brookville. It has since blossomed into a full service garden center and landscape company, offering computerized landscape design, tree sales, landscape installation, landscape maintenance service and of course, Christmas trees. Brett came out and we walked over the lot, he took photos and we discussed what we could do. Over several emails (he was very patient with me!) I changed my mind numerous times and he always had a suggestion that I might like instead. Finally we agreed on a design and he sent us a quote. We accepted and a tentative date was set (depending on weather and the completion of other jobs). We decided to include even more landscaping than we had originally planned and Brett again worked with us in figuring out what plants and design and sent another quote. The crew showed up a bit earlier than the date set and started work. Terry has a wonderful crew and they worked hard - our yard is a very hard soil. They were polite, unobtrusive, did excellent work, and cleaned up each day. Terry answered all of our questions about the plants, the soil, etc... We made arrangements for them to build a small natural stone retaining wall in the front and they did a great job on that also. We are very pleased with our yard and would not hesitate to hire them again for future projects or to recommend them.

We used an Angie's List deal to have Whitetail Acres add two landscaping beds, remove some bushes, and replace mulch in our existing beds. We communicating primarily via email on landscaping design. There were several versions of the new landscaping beds discussed. When the beds were completed, they did not match the latest design. I contacted Whitetail and they come back out to redo the beds. We very much appreciated that they were willing to remediate the problem. However, one year later, it is clear the spacing of the beds was very poor. We already need to have the beds re-done again as there are bushes growing together.

Brett responded quickly and scheduled a time to come out and see what needed to be done. He listened to what I wanted and created an estimate with pictures of what they suggested. We agreed on the price, and they scheduled the work, which was done about 6 weeks from the date of deposit. They arrived on schedule and did the job very quickly and professionally. The beds look great! Thanks!

It was difficult. The company started giving me different pricing. What seems to be the agreement was Angie’s List big deal. I had to do a lot of back and forth between Angie’s List and Whitetail. Eventually, I got it done and got it at the price that I was expecting it to be. Once the work was done, they did a good job. I got a fountain installed and when they came to deliver it, one of the workers discovered that the basin was cracked. I was happy that they noticed that before they put it in. When they were taking it out, they dropped a statue and chipped it. I would not go back with them again and I would not recommend them to other people.

I had a lot of ivy and it all died, so I decided to have it landscaped. They did an excellent job. They gave me a computerized print out and I got to chose what plants and everything I wanted. It took a couple of days to plant everything. The staff were excellent.

Brought a truckload of mulch but this had to be left on our patio. The weeds didn't really die and came back up through the mulch as well as the grass. I don't feel they did really good job. Allowed five plants in the cost of the estimate and not very happy with the plants provided.

Things went ok. They were easy to work with although we did have a slight communication trouble. I had asked them to step down the amount of visits to my home, which they did. They billed me for visits I'm not sure happened since there were lots of weeds growing higher than I thought they would be with them coming out. They did credit me for those visits.

Brett Rauch, who did the design work, was very easy to work with and came up with a nice design. We asked for some substitutions in terms of plants, and he was very accommodating. The actual work, done on Oct 29 and 30 went very nicely and the two gentlemen who did it were courteous, accommodating and did excellent work. We could not be more pleased with the result and recommend Whitetail Acres for landscaping and for trees.

They also wanted to schedule things far out, a minimum of 4-6 weeks out, which we did not receive a valid explanation for. Invoices keep coming with finance charges, delivery/shipping charges and illegal sales tax. When the guy came out he was inflexible about substituting the trees.

It turned out beautifully! I could not be more pleased with the final results. They are truly a lovely, sweet couple and workers are very nice also. Wanted to know if I was pleased with work and just could not have been more caring on doing it right! Thanks for Angie for having them in your file! I will definitely use them again!

Brent met with me to discuss landscape work I wanted done. He then created a design based on my request and provided an estimate for the work. After the work was contracted, his crew showed up when promised and installed according to plan (including tearing out and hauling away old, overgrown landscape plants.) The work was done in a timely manner and we are very happy with the result.

It went very well. I would say that they are very responsive. They called when they said they are going to. They did everything they said they are going to do. Again, we haven’t had any of work done yet but so far, so good.

Brett was prompt, but apparently didn't understand what I had purchased on the "Big Deal." He spent about 45 minutes or so with me while I explained my need for an esthetic design that handled drainage more effectively in the back yard. What I received was a quote for retaining walls for the SIDE yard and a commercial brochure from a company that makes retaining wall bricks and pavers. This was not what I requested. After an exchange of emails, I received an overhead sketch of a patio constructed of pavers with a dry creekbed and formal plantings (boxwoods, etc.). Not particularly appropriate for the back yard of a simple country house. Not in keeping with the existing plantings or design. I did not contact Whitetail further.

Alice from the nursery came over and talked to us about or needs and desires regarding the landscaping. Then she took some pictures and a couple of weeks later gave us some drawings and images detailing her suggested approach. She also provided an itemized quote if we decided to go with them for the actual work.
Due to other expenses popping up we've decided to postpone any major landscaping work for next season. However, their work was outstanding and would certainly recommend.

It was obvious from the beginning that the crew (Kyle and Michael, and Don) were more interested in doing what we wanted as opposed to just planting trees. They did everything as requested and the trees are beautiful and securely planted. They cleaned up the area nicely before they left. We could not be more pleased.

Alice came out and walked the yard with me; we talked about likes and dislikes; she took measurements. Two weeks later she sent us her landscape design and the bid to do the work. After discussing color choices with Alice, we scheduled Whitetail Acres to do the work. They landscaped our front yard--expanded and edged beds, took out overgrown plants and a tree, amended the soil, put in new plants according to the landscape design, and mulched. They also transplanted some usable plants from the front yard to the backyard and edged and mulched backyard beds. They fertilized all plants and gave us care instructions. Before they left each day, they cleaned up. We're very happy with our new landscaping!
