Called to have a new thermostat installed on a heat pump. I ask what they charge and the girl told me they charge $110 per hour and the charges start when he arrives. The man came and installed a non-programmable heat pump thermostat that costs less then $40 at home depot. I was charged a $110 diagnostic fee and then 214.84 for the thermostat plus and 18.00 fuel surcharge. I paid $354 for less than an hour of work. Make sure you get the charges clarified if you use these guys and buy your own thermostat!

I did a lot of research on the existing HVAC systems before I made the purchase. My research led me to the brands of American Standard and Trane. For Consumer Reports ranked both of them as the highest in reliability (they are made by the same factory). I then chose American Standard because they were offering an instant rebate. I got a couple of estimates and finally decided on HFI for three reasons: 1) they were able to match the lowest price, 2) they had a reputable crew of technicians who knew how to install the new, computer programed, HVAC system, 3) their Estimator, Darrin, was very kind and did everything he could to adjust the system and the schedule to meet the needs of my son with autism. My son was having health issues at the time, so the HFI crew came out within a couple of days. They took out the old furnace and A/C and thoroughly cleaned the duck work. Then they did a great job installing the new system, making sure it ran smoothly. They were definitely one of the best crews I had ever seen. The very friendly and organized crew leader, Bob, told me they would arrive early, started the work promptly, and sought my feedback every step of the way. I was expecting the installation to be done by workers who only knew the installation procedure but not the technology behind it. But Justin and Josh knew more about the technology than some of the management-level experts in town I had talked to. Justin answered all of my questions, addressed all of my requests, and then stayed long enough to teach me how to use the digital thermostat. Josh was so busy getting the job done right that he did not even take a lunch break. HFI was not just as good as their reputation--they actually exceeded my expectations. I am very happy with my new HVAC system. The air feels clean, fresh, and healthy. My son immediately got better after the installation. I am truly grateful for all the help from HFI. I highly recommend the company.
