I give them an F, but he died so I don't even know if the company is still around. It turns out he did work for two or three people in the neighborhood and they all had problems. I called and left complaints and messages for about six months but they would not return my calls. Meanwhile my roof leaks in my garage and I lost a good portion of my ceiling because it is damaged.
At first all was ok but after 4 years the roof was leaking all over. had to repair the roof in multiple locations buy a different contractor.
Beryesrs promise to come back to repair but did not.
I would not recommend Beryers Roof
A new roof is among the most expensive and important home maintenance purchases you will ever make and it took us a long time to pull the trigger and go for it. The choice of Beyers turned out to be among the best vendor experiences we have had and they earned our highest recommendation.
The first thing that we liked was that his crews could do all the work including the carpentry for the structural damage, but even better his ideas of how to tackle the chimney problem exactly matched my husband's who has been studying the problem since we built the house 20 years ago. Then he showed us samples of shingles and I did not see the color I wanted. He had, however, done a roof in this color 10 years ago so he suggested we meet at that house and take a look. We loved it so he agreed to use those shingles for the quoted price although they were more expensive. We hired him although we got no other bids feeling that this expenditure was so important that what mattered the very most to us was the quality of the work. It is for this reason that I marked NA on the price rating above. I suspect that for the quality the price was also excellent.
Now for some details about the work itself:
- - The crew arrived on time the day arranged. Beyers himself was there for a long time instructing and observing. His overseeing of the job was regular and excellent. He was very careful to watch the weather and the work was done so that at the end of the day there was never a chance that an unexpected rain could do damage.
- - The crews were polite and efficient. We were painting the siding to be used for the chimney ourselves and I had to paint in one day about 20 - 20 ft. boards. One of the crew came over and helped me do this even though it was not in the description of their responsibility.
- - The crew did not play any music or radio (with a couple of short exceptions and these were not loud).
- - They were very respectful of the plantings around the house and objects on the decks and moved all the debris of the old roof by hand to a place where they could be thrown on a tarp and not hurt anything. This was time consuming but I really appreciated it since I have a bed with some rare plants and an organic garden next to the house. I found one nail, one cigarette butt and a few small pieces of plastic after they left and that is all!
- - The rubble from the old roof that was on a tarp was covered with another tarp at the end of each day so the old shingles would not blow away and for the visual look of it.
- -The reconstruction job they did on the garage and the chimney was excellent! The chimney is now not only very solidly re-built but looks really great as some aesthetic decisions had to be made.
-The finished roof looks better than the original ever did.
We are really happy that we chose to have Beyers do our roof and would recommend him without reservation.
Beyers’ website was instrumental in our selecting a contractor. The photos showed the fit and finish we could expect. All buildings were nearby, so we were able to follow up on the photos by seeing the roofs from angles other than the photo angles. Beyers also provided letters of reference from individuals and businesses that we new either personally or by reputation.
There were only two problems, and we felt they were well within the range of normal for a job like this one. The seal around an old flush-mount skylight needed a second pass; the problem was fixed the day after it was identified. A glass porch roof panel that was broken during the work was closed to the weather and replaced as soon as the tempered glass could be delivered.
The new roof was incidental to a larger remodel, and Beyers’ crew went significantly above and beyond the letter of the contract to help with that remodel.
- 1. After removing a damaged section of roof deck, the crew carried about 50 bundles of fiberglass insulation up to the roof and lowered it into the attic. The alternative access would have been a nightmare.
- 2. Having the tools and skills, we had planned to install three light tunnels as part of the greater remodel. Beyers’ crew was willing to let us do the work while they were roofing so the tunnels could be integral to the new roof instead of cut through it later. They offered good advice along the way.
- 3. Also as part of the larger remodel, we had planned to install two Velux skylights, which require building curbs and flashing. Rather than leaving us to cut through “their” new roof, Greg Beyers had the crew install the skylights for us—no charge.
All told, we got a top quality job, more than we expected, and more than we paid for.
