They did a decent, in the beginning, but I would advise anyone who uses them to get a time line from them as to how long the job is going to take and to be careful how much they are paid up front for their work and after they claim that they have finished the job. Look the work over to see that it has been done properly and completely. It should have only taken 3 days at the most but they took over a week. Instead of the whole crew working the whole time, it would be just 1-2 guys coming each day. They showed up when they wanted to, and would leave early. They definitely know what they are doing and they are good at it, but when they left yesterday they kept pushing me to sign off on the job. I noticed that there were other things that needed to be done, such as the trim. When I talked to them about it. They began to get a bit upset with me. Last night after they were gone and I had already paid them, I noticed the paint wasn't all the way up to where it was suppose to be painted. If they do not come back, I am going to end up having to paint it myself. This really disappoints me. They also did not clean up the stairway as well as they could have. I just expected more out of this company. Another thing that I was very unhappy with was that I told them I would pay for the paint and the railings. So, before we started I told them when they went to get the materials to let me know how much it cost and I would decide where I wanted it purchased from. They ended up buying the materials without contacting me. On the final bill, they charged me $138.22 for the paint, railings and some screws. I asked why they never called to ask me and they said it would have taken too long to contact me. They never came back to finish the job. They were supposed to come back Friday ? June 13, 2008 and today to finish the stairway (trim and painting) and relay the carpet in the basement. When they were doing the work in the stairway we discovered that the basement had partially flooded. They said they could dry it out. And, at first, everything seemed to be going ok, but now the downstairs is very dusty and in disarray. They dried up the carpet rolled it back and took up the padding. The furniture, knick knacks, and such that were on the carpet were scattered throughout the basement by them. They did not put a sheet up between the stairway and the basement to prevent the dust from the drywall work they were doing in the stairway from going into the basement. The dust is so heavy there is even handprints on my furniture. There is also heavy dust on the other furniture, knick knacks and such, the carpet and the walls. I am going to have to repaint. They also left muddy shoe prints throughout the bathroom. Originally, when the basement flooded, the bathroom floor was not wet. I am going to have to spend approximately another $1000-$1300 to clean up the mess that they left in the basement and complete the work that they did not finish in the stairway.
Response from Affordable Bathrooms
"I do not owe him anything, except a little touch up. I called Angie's List on 6/19/08 about him getting mad about the price of his screws. This part has nothing to do with me while we were there; he had a flood in a room in basement, one of my subs took 4 fans there that we were using for drywall to help him dry out his basement carpet. He never let him back in to put carpet back and will not return the fans if anybody owes anybody he needs to give up the fans he got his $150 worth of work."
