The flooring selection and support in the process was great. I also felt like I was getting a good deal. I had some issues with the installer that McCool's used, and would not use that installer again, but I would return to McCool's for flooring. To be clear, the installer did a great job installing the floor, but otherwise did not meet my needs to receive an invoice without great additional effort. The flooring purchase went great; the installation experience felt like was set up to be an "under the table" transaction.

They did a great job, excellent. They were pretty reasonable. It was very good quality. They're very flexible, they give you suggestions if you're not sure about what you want to do, they look out for what your budget is and give you the best with what your budget would allow.

Had to replace laminate due to water damage. No issues with talking to the store and getting estimate from their contractor. Installation took one day to remove laminate and couple days a week later for the install so the floor could dry where the water damage occurred. They reinstalled the quarter round trim. The quarter round did not look good in a couple places. I replaced a few pieces myself since they did not match up as before due to floor being slightly lower. Also, I caulked an area by the sliding door and added some shoe mold there too. Contractor mentioned they could do the caulking and shoe mold but did not. A few days later I noticed a board that recessed a lot when you stepped on it. They came back and said the floor boards were not very good and had to patch some gaps. This area had to be repaired. They came to the house kind of unexpected right before dinner to repair it. A few months later the rubber trim under the cabinets (kick plates or cove bases) start falling off. Called McCools and they said contractor would take care of it. I did not hear anything for 3 weeks. I was going to take care of it myself and the contractor did contact me. They came out and said it was bad glue. They did fix it. Overall, the issues were resolved. However, communication needs improvement.

McCool's installed a new hardwood floor in our home in 2012. The quality of the installation seemed to be good initially. However, we started seeing a couple of spots where the boards were lifting on the corners and separating. We inquired about the repair and warranty, and the installer was not as responsive as we had hoped. We also had an upcoming open house for our son's graduation and were concerned about the appearance of the floor. That's when utilized Angie's List to express our concerns.
As it turned out, the owner, Doug McCool was not aware of our issue. However, when he learned of it, both he and his store manager in Avon got involved to ensure that the repair was done before the open house and that it was covered under warranty. I truly appreciated Doug McCool's follow up call and encourage anyone who has concerns with their products or services to contact him directly as he is interested in making sure that all of his customers are happy.

FIRST OFF NO ANGIES MEMBER DISCOUNT. From start to finish not a good experience. Only good part was the gentleman who came to measure the carpet. Those that came to install carpet for basement where less than professional. When installers finished they left prior to us looking at their work. Brand new base boards and our contractor had to take care of the scuff marks that were left. They advertise installation is included in price of the carpet, but was itemized on our bill. They pride themselves on not wasting any carpet which only means we have LOTS of seams so hoping carpet will last as we were told there is no warranty on the installation. Did I say we were not offered any type of discount for being an Angie List Member.

I have called Mr. {removed member name} and expressed my concern and promised to follow up with training. We never want to have this happen again. I did want to clarify we do warrant our installation. But again we didn't make this clear as it seems communication was also a problem. I had great help choosing the materials. The price was not the cheapest I found, but I liked the sales person and help more than other places.
The installers arrived and completed the job in one day as expected. They actually finished faster than expected. They did clean up after themselves and were polite. However, I walked in my garage and found one of them going through MY tools without asking. . They needed a tool, and I let them borrow it to finish the job. I had to ask to get it back when they were cleaning up.
The floors looked great, but 7 months later I am noticing cracks in the grout. I called McCools and they nicely told me they would have the installer call me back. It has been two weeks, and I have not heard back. I called again and I was again told the installed would call me.
Long story short, it took four phone calls on my part before the installer finally called me back. He said he would arrive between 4 and 4:30 on the following Monday, and he arrived at 3:00 PM. I was glad he was there, and glad I happened to be home early. The work was completed, and a week later it still looks good.

It just took a while to schedule it, it took a couple weeks out to schedule. They kept in touch by text to let me know when they were coming and that sort of thing.

I did not like them. They were worse than Capel Rugs by Blakley's. It's been a big mess. You got all day? This is bad. I bought the laminate, it's called Quick-Step, it's beautiful. When they came to lay it, they don't do it right. You have to contact their installer yourself. Instead of them sending out. McCool's did do that. They sent out their installers. But they make you call their installer and make arrangements. He came out and brought a helper with him. They did not put it down correctly. He had to come back and take some of it up and put it back down. Then while he was doing that he cut my telephone line and they charged me $200 to come out here and do that. So after he had laid the floor, we noticed the floor had a hump in it, like it was something under the flooring. I called him back and he said one of my grandchildren or my cat or something has wet on that floor. I said no way, my grandchild is grown and my cat has never wet on the floor. So I went almost a year and a nine months going over to McCool's and complaining and complaining and complaining. So what had happened I'm sure they had rolled my refrigerator back over the water cord that fed into my icemaker and that popped and it seeped in under that floor. Well, I wanted them to come and relay that and so I went over there, I betcha I made ten trips over there. Finally, I will tell you I am not young, and so I told my daughter who lives with me that this was age related because they just turned me off. So after several months of me going over there and them saying they'd come and fix it and then not coming, she went in there and they said they'd been thinking about what they would do. She told them there's been nothing spilled on that floor. Then finally they came over here but it was eight or nine months later. I wouldn't give you a nickel for all of McCool's store. You didn't expect to get that today, did you? Their installer is less than bad, he's terrible. My main complaint is with the installation and them not accommodating me to get that repaired. When I went in to the store to buy it, they were very gracious. The salesmen were nice but boy it ended there. I think it should be understood that their store is beautiful, their salespeople were nice but it started with the installation and then not being accommodating in the least to get it repaired back. You have to call them 20 times. It took me eight or nine months to get that fixed. I don't think they're professional, I think they kept puttng me off. I'd go to Lowe's any day before I'd go to them.

Brad from McCool's in Avon did a great job walking us through all the options for a kitchen floor. We made multiple trips into the store, and he never pressured us to buy. Getting an estimate went well, and when we finally decided to move ahead, working with Brad was a very professional and pleasant experience.
The installers were very professional, and they did an excellent job. They were prompt and did a good job cleaning up after the job.
The floor looks great! I would definitely use McCool's in Avon for future flooring needs.

Very easy to work with. Listened to my concerns thoughfully. Tony came out and took care of the estimate/measuring. They gave me precise and accurate measurements so I knew exactly how much carpet I needed before I paid. I was also told that I could have the carpet laid either direction without needing any additional carpet. This was a plus as I was hoping for minimal seaming. Went over pricing for a couple of different types of carpet so I was able to do good comparison. Overall the best possible experience for a large expense during a stressful (remodeling) time.
This installation was for the Master bedroom and bath. I am so happy with the carpet and installation that I will be using McCools to carpet the remaining 2 bedrooms and family room!
