"Thanks for the review, always a pleasure to work with you. Great customers are the backbone of our business!"
The worker sent by Feld's to install our vinyl flooring did such a horrible job that we documented 47 mistakes, including:
---craters in the floor;
---gouges in every single piece of molding he installed;
---cement and other materials smeared left on walls and floors and other places;
---creating very noticeable ridges and valleys in the flooring;
---badly scratching every inch of gold edging he installed;
---leaving grimy fingerprints and handprints on all six door surfaces he touched;
---making unsightly cuts on the ends of each of the molding pieces he installed;
---leaving our garage door--and even the door from the garage to the kitchen--open for both days he was here, in subzero weather;
---not installing shoe molding at the bottom of two doors as was ordered;
---leaving so much debris and misplaced furniture when he left that it took us two hours to clean up his mess;
---putting some sort of greasy goop on the outside of the toilet;
---spilling sealer on the seam that left a large/long unsightly area all across the seam in the bathroom;
---taking many hours longer, both days he was here, to complete the job than what we were told--meaning that we could not use our kitchen, living room, downstairs bathroom, living room, or the rest of the first floor for most of that time;
---using our supplies as his own !---paper towels and even one of our towels for his cleanup while we were gone; staining one of our best kitchen towels with cement and something else and leaving it sopping-wet in the sink;
---damaging our baseboards in many places where he installed quarter-round;
- ---The Feld?s installer also made our water pipes freeze by leaving the cover off the Water Meter Pit, on a subzero day and night;
- We had to hire a plumbing company to get water back into the house, and the only one available that day took 11 hours to get to us and charged us $433;
- ---The homeowner also had to take that day off from work?without pay?to research plumbing companies, make all the phone calls it took to get a plumber to our home, and wait those 11 hours for the water to be restored;
- ---We still don?t have the Heating bill that will show how much the installer?s carelessness in leaving the garage and kitchen doors open for two of the coldest days of the year.
And much more that won?t fit here--we have a 5-and-a-half-page document listing all the mistakes they made. And Mike Poor, the Owner, has made an unacceptable "offer" and has continued to refuse to come see all the problems caused by his installer.
Another contractor?who does work for an Angie's List executive--has inspected the work and advised that it needs to be completely redone.
Thank you for your assistance.
"It is always unfortunate to be placed in an environment where there is no possible way to provide a "satisfactory" job. When personalities dictate the perception of realistic expectations, and the ability to have a reasonable idea of what constitutes acceptable versus non-acceptable, the ability of a professional to complete his/her job is always diminished greatly. When you belittle a workman and others in a company while work is being performed, the end result is less than satisfactory for everyone. While performing work in a home there are going to be times when there must be access to tools and supplies outside the home. When you are repairing previous work which is invisible until work begins, time is always subject. When small items and furniture is the responsibilities of the homeowner, that should be accepted. When the home-owner is instructed to stay off the area to allow curing and then refuses to comply because they won't listen to reason, then they must accept responsibilities of the out-come. When the home-owner refuses to discuss the requirement to secure their property in sub-zero climates, then they are the one's to bear the consequences. When the home-owner believes that when they have no responsibilities or stake in the work being performed to provide an environment that promotes results, you end up with less than satisfactory results. Our company was well aware of this customer's history of being unhappy with every worker they've had and preferred to provide product only, but they found that no one else would perform their work, so we made the unfortunate mistake to try and help. Reasonable offers of remediation and compensation have been provided, but unfortunately "reasonable" is always an opinion not shared by all. The work to completely re-do the job by another company has yet to be done, but if that is the actual result and receipts are provided, we are happy to provide a full refund. For all who read comments and/or provide them, all a company can ask is realize we are all human, the world is not perfect, and the ability to perform services in a less than perfect situation has like results. It is also unfortunate these formats always present more negative responses than positive. After over 30+ years in business, we've found one thing to be true, always try your best but realize you can never satisfy everyone."
The date of service is just a guess
"We are so sorry you are still disappointed after all this time and felt compelled to use this forum to vent. According to our records and notes this was originally priced & designed as a square lay-out with only the tile needing to have corners "clipped" to allow for the 2"x2" accent tile to be positioned into the field tile which are 13x13. When changing the lay-out to "diagonal" there should have been a minimum of an additional 10-15% upcharge in material & labor (which was not charged). Unfortunately after 5 years, there is little we can do except advise anyone the best results come from direct contact with you contractor during the installation or at very least within the 1st year after completion. Again we are very sorry your experience with Feld's was not positive, for over 36 years we have always tried to offer the best products and service possible while keeping budgets in mind."
"Thanks for the great review!"
We hired them several times and we will definitely hire them again to do more work in our house. They're very easy to work with.
"What an awesome review! Thank you so much, it's always a pleasure working with you and your wonderful family."
The entire laminate flooring that was installed had to be replaced since I made this original review. The laminate was horrible. The quality of the product/finish was very poor. The laminate finish did not withstand NORMAL daily traffic of two people. Within 5-6 months the floor began to buckle, chip, and scratch. I have sinced replaced the laminate with a better product at lowes. It has been 2 years since install of that product and no buckeling, chipping, or sratches are evident.
