Jent Construction LLC

Purchased a home in June 2018, on which Jent had JUST replaced the roof from wind damage. As new buyers we even picked out the color as it was being installed during the sale. Less than 6 months into owning the new home, the roof started leaking by a kitchen window with water running directly into an outlet. Husband disconnected the outlet and I called Jent. They said someone would be in touch. Nothing. I called again and they said there is no warranty for a new owner. Warranty doesn't transfer but they would have a project manager contact me. Nothing. Called again and "someone would be in touch"... That was in July. Had a roof inspector confirm that it was an installation issue. They do not stand behind their work. They do not communicate. I hope this review helps when considering a roofing contractor.

While looking for a roofing company a family friend recommended Jent Construction. He gave us a card and told us to call Dave W. We did the next day and Dave and his Son promptly came out in a Jent pickup truck, wearing Jent uniform shirts. I felt positive and impressed as other companies I had spoken to had sent out guys in beat up trucks that looked like they hadn't bathed in a week. He gave us an estimate and we signed the Jent Contract and sent it to our insurance company. Working with our insurance company Dave was able to get all the work done within the estimate given, Things seemed great at the time, it was the workmanship that was the problem we would later find out unfortunately. That May Dave, his Son and Nephew came out and put on the roof. It took about 3 days and it appeared nice. I told Dave I was happy with the work. Next was the replacement of two windows. This is when issues started showing up. They came out and took out the windows but days went by. I tried calling and texting Dave with no response. After a couple of weeks He responded saying he'd be out to put in our windows that Thursday. Thursday came and no one showed up. I called and he apologized saying that the windows weren't available yet he was having trouble ordering the cocoa brown replacement windows but it shouldn't be too much longer. The end of July came (This was about 6 weeks later)I was at work and came home to find white windows that they spray painted brown. I asked what the deal with that was and he said these windows were way cheaper. The custom color would have been out of budget and he was saving me from having to go out of pocket. Then I looked at the frame work and it was pretty awful, apparently whoever did the frame work had never used a miter saw before and placed the wood in the frame square and filled the corners that should have been mitered with white caulk. I figured what the **** it's already done, they're temporary windows anyway. Dave said he'd come out and finish the framing of the outside of the window the next week. Didn't hear from Dave again until September. No show at several appointments and now my roof was leaking in 6 spots. I went up and inspected the roof myself and found that the flashing hadn't been replaced around the skylights and there were several shingles that were peeled up. Since I couldn't reach Dave I called Adam Jent and spoke to him . He had no knowledge of this job and come to find out Dave had done this job on the side unbeknownst to all of us. Dave as stated earlier showed up to the house in a Jent Truck, Jent Uniform and we signed a Jent Contract. I spoke to Adam a couple of times and he came out to the house to inspect the work and told Dave to correct what he hadn't done or he'd be out of a job. Again, Dave disappeared. No we're into February and we talk to our lawyer. He verifies we have a case against them for fraud and to have another company come out and inspect what the problems were and write out a letter containing everything that needed work. They estimated it would cost about $5,000 to repair what they did and didn't do so we sent a certified letter to Jent threatening to take them to court. Not 5 minutes after they received the letter i received a call from Jent. The owner was very defensive over talking me and claiming they had no liability as they had no record of this job being done. When I told them it was signed on a Jent contract he acted as if he didn't believe me and told me to send him a screen shot of it. Once I did his demeanor changed from defensive to scolding of Dave W. Once again threatening to fire him if he didn't complete the job. We made a date for Dave to come out and he showed up with a guy he claimed worked for Jent(Which I later found out didn't, he was just a guy Dave hired to do some work) and he came up and repaired some shingles and fixed the ridge vent that was improperly installed. Dave said he'd be out in a couple of weeks to have someone replace the leaking skylight and repair the rest of the leaks. They showed up and installed the skylight and did what I thought were the final repairs to finish things up. About 3 months went by and I was convinced I would never have to call Dave again until we got a torrential downpour in July . 3 of the same spots that leaked were still leaking so I called Dave and told him and he stated that he would be out Thursday morning...... He again didn't show. Tired of all the back and forth and no shows I went up, bought some roofing cement and tested out the valley's that were supposed to be caulked. I ran water for 20 minutes up and down the valleys seeing that when water would hit the shingles they would all lift up about an inch around the valleys and shortly after I did the water test the leaks happened. I caulked the valleys on both sides of the house with the roofing cement as well as some other loose shingles and so far have not had any issues. This was a ridiculously aggravating experience involving fraud, lack of pride or ability in workmanship and stupidity on the part of Jent Construction and Dave W. How he manages to keep a job at this business astounds me. I cannot in good conscious recommend this company. I'm sure I've failed to mention several other things but this review would be the length of a condensed novelette if I kept going. I think I made my point

The work done was excellent. The quality, speed, professionalism, attentiveness to details was outstanding. My questions were answered timely. Jent went over and above for our church. We highly recommend Jent Construction!

Excellent! To start off I had 7 Angie’s list contractors bid on my property. The bids were different in price, warranty, product, and down payment. I printed off all 7 and compared their bid to the other 6. Additionally, I included a company that I had used before that was also a Service Award winner. When I started it was that company’s bid to lose because I had used them before on my other house. Well Jent just blew the the other companies bids away in price, warranty, and product. The finished product is a thing of beauty! They completed the job on time and stayed within their bid. Everything was cleaned up at the job site. Additionally, I have decided that I will have him realign my gutters to correct a flow problem and to install gutter guards. I have also decided his company to connect a down spout to my drainage system that runs into the back yard to improve discharge of the gutters. Could not be happier with Jent’s services or price.

Great company to work with and great team on our project.

Very happy with the price and quality of work. Took less than two days and workers removed every single little scrap of old material. Not one thing left behind. Definitely plan to use them for other work and would highly recommend them! Pictures of the completed work are on their facebook page.

Responded quickly, and got us into the schedule rather quickly. The installation took a little over 2 days, of which I expected a week. The crew was courteous and mindful of the landscaping and did a good cleanup job afterward. Had one minor issue which they came back and fixed.

Project manager came and did an inspection. He reported we had hail damage and needed a new roof. But he made no offer for the repairs. I contacted two different contractors for other opinions. Both said no new roof was needed. One pointed out some minor, relatively inexpensive repairs that were needed. I hired them and they completely the repairs quickly. I sent email to Adam Jent explaining the situation and asking for a refund, since no work was done. He never responded. I contacted Angie's List about this and they refunded my money.

It went okay. It did go a day longer than expected.

A large thumbs up for Jent Construction who replaced our root and gutter system a few weeks ago The workers were engaged and seemed to enjoy their work. From the administrators to the workers, they spelled professional in all they did. I would recommend them highly for any home maintenance need. We were completely satisfied with thoroughness of their work, their professionalism, and their care.

Fair Took Longer Than Expected To Compete Job Around A Month Due To Sickness

Great! The did an excellent job and roofs look fantastic!

Overall it went very well. Communication and honesty are my main priorities, as I've had some pretty bad experiences with contractors in the past. I was very happy that my calls and texts were always returned quickly. The work crew was very respectful and friendly. Every day that they worked they cleaned up after themselves, whereas some contractors will promise to clean it all up at the end, which doesn't work out that well if you have windy days over the course of having work done, etc. I had one misunderstanding with the person who coordinated our project which had to do with a mutual failure to be clear on part of the work to be done, but we reached a compromise. Since the work has been finished and we've completed payment, we've had to ask to have a couple of minor tweaks or simple fixes done, and they've been very responsive. That means the world to me that they are standing by their work and coming back right away for no further charge. I have even contacted them for advice on other repair and home improvement issues, and they always get back to me right away.

Installing the guards went great - and birds are no longer nesting in our gutters - has eliminated the mess the birds were making!! Deck is clean and always ready for company!

The workers arrived early & went straight to working removing old shingle's then replaced felt paper & ice shield. They installed new shingles in record time. Everyone was amazed they got the job done in a day. They cleaned up & the area was spotless trust me I searched for debris & found none.
