called Freedom to look at my A/C, they spent all of 5 minutes, didn't take anything apart, then started suggesting that they told the prior owner the A/C needed replaced. [The home was built in 2008.] Then said they could re-charge the freon, at $99 / pound and as the system was low (20%), that it was leaking and they could try an additive to the freon which may fix a leak from the inside, but it was 50/50 on the success. They then suggested that a search for the source of the leak would cost $800-$900 plus whatever repair was needed, if repairable at all. I asked for all options, so they next called in another rep, a sales man, who promptly told me my furnace was on recall, and said he would take it apart and see if it was faulty. Said it wasn't after taking the unit apart. nNext thing I know, the salesman was trying to sell me a $12,500 new furnace and new A/C system. Said that most homeowners changed their furnace and air condition out together, to keep them the same age. Did I mention the house was built in 2008? Did I say the furnace wasn't working (if has worked fine) Did I mention that the salesman said that IF the furnace was faulty, the manufacturer would substantially pay for replacement? Then why a new one? I called a 2nd opinion in the following Monday. The Home Depot service contractor. He immediately noticed that the gas line to my furnace had been diss-connected. Fortunately the valve shut off . . . but what if a child had pulled the valve handle and then a spark . . . After reconnecting, we discovered that the thermostat wasn't working, and after investigating, found that the a fuse within the furnace was blown (it wasn't before Freedom showed up, and who knows, did they blow it on purpose?). The Home Depot service rep re-connected the gas line, put in a new fuse. Then added in the 3#'s of freon at $80 / pound (did I mention Freedom wanted $99 / pound?). We tested and found cool air working. True, it could have a catastrophic leak, but I'll know shortly. but if the system lost 3#'s over 7 years, it seem logical to assume it is a minor leak, and that isn't call for replacement of the entire unit. I think Freedom tried to high pressure sales me into a new system, and then sabotaged the current one, in hopes I'd call them back in when I found nothing worked. I wouldn't use them to change a light bulb!

Freedom Heating and Plumbing does excellent work. They are professional and courteous and I think do a good job of explaining what is required and approximate costs. They always arrive to do work when they promise and we appreciate that too. I'm so glad they are in our area and do such great work.

We've been using Freedom for about a year, and they've been doing a great job. They're always quick to respond whenever we have a problem, the technicians are always friendly and professional, and they do good work in general.

This was my first time using the company, and everything went well. They responded quickly, they showed on time, and they did an excellent job. In fact, the furnace has been doing great ever since the repairs.

The technician was professional and friendly, did the work as promised, and did it well. Unfortunately, their estimate for replacing the broken pipe was much too high. Specifically, they quoted a price of $2750 and I found another company to do the work for just $750.

Everything went well, and it was a good experience. The technician arrived on time and did the work as promised, the price was by far the most competitive, and he didn't try to pressure us into making adjustments to a minor wiring issue. Specifically, he told us how to work around the issue instead of having us fix it which we appreciated.

They were terrific.

Our furnace quit working so we called them and they sent someone out right away. They checked it over and told us what was going on and that they would send someone out to fix it. It's cold outside in November. So that wasn't fun waiting for someone else to show up. When the second guy showed up he went to work right away. I heard all kinds of noises...including sawing. I have no idea what he was doing. He then was talking on his phone for 45 minutes. I'm honestly not sure if he was asking someone for help because he wasn't sure what he was doing or if he was just chit chatting while waiting for something to happen. When he left there was chunks of rust and a rusty powder left on the floor of my basement. We had to call them back a couple of days later because the furnace stopped working again. This time it was 'our fault' for using filters that are too thick. Now we are forced to use the 'green' recycled material filters that are see through and we can't shut any vents. After ALL of that, some time went by and my mother recieved a phone call from a woman that works there that says she's going to send our account to collections for non-payment. We never even received a bill...or any other calls prior to that. The woman got lectured on how to run a business because they obviously have no clue.

I didn't like the quote. I wasn't happy with them. I will not use them again. They came out on the same job another company did. I didn't appreciate the high pressure sales pitch. They really overestimated the job. They took over a local plumbing company called Spade Heating & Plumbing. They're still operating under the Spade name. It's on the building and in the phone book. It's like bait and switch to me. Spade Heating & Plumbing was an A+ company right down the line. I'd dealt with them for years. I spoke to the former owner and he said that he'd told them that they couldn't use those type of tactics. I think people need to know that it's not Spade Heating & Plumbing anymore. It's not the same owners or anything.

During the hottest part of the summer, our heating/cooling system went out totally! Naturally due to the extreme heat Spade's were swamped. As soon as they could squeeze us in, they got us up & running with the new unit. Then took off to help others in distress. It took about two weeks for them to come back and finish off the new installation. But in the meantime, at least we were able to sleep & be comfortable in the midst of all the blazing heat outside. The new heat pump has helped a lot with both heating and cooling bills. Would recommend Spade Plumbing & Heating to Anyone and Everyone.
