Shawn Chapman was very unprofessional. I would never recommend his services to anyone, even if they were free. The home inspection performed by Shawn was inadequate to say the least. There were major items not identified in his report, including a structural issue, which totaled thousands of dollars in unexpected expenditures. Some of the items that were not identified by Shawn were: a structural issue with the front porch, broken exterior faucets, non-functioning oven, broken motor on microwave turntable, cracks in brick mortar, non-functioning ceiling fan, multiple holes in the attic roof and siding (with daylight coming through them), and broken smoke detectors on all 3 levels. (See attached photos of engineer's report and photos of some of the issues.) When these omissions were presented to Shawn, he first dismissed them as non-issues. He then became very condescending and combatant regarding his blatantly pathetic evaluation of our house. He refused to take any responsibility for his mistakes, even after several contractors and a structural engineer confirmed his oversights. He ultimately tried to mischaracterize us, accusing us of trying to take advantage of him. Doing business with Shawn was a horrible and costly experience. Based on his previous behavior, I expect that his response to this review will be denial and blame.

Shawn is friendly, conversational and helpful. He focuses on what's important in the inspection. He pointed out issues and gave other helpful explanations. Willing to answer questions.
The pictures he took were good for identifying the issues, and the report he generated was helpful in classifying the severity of the issues. The report also included general maintenance tips and clearly explained what the inspection did and didn't entail.
He got us on his schedule quickly, and the turnaround on the report was immediate.
Overall, very pleasant experience.

overall it was great! Shawn is very personable and loves what he does. this is our 3rd home that my wife and i have purchased. he is by far the best at home inspections out of the ones we have used. his report was very detailed and easy to understand. since the inspection i have run in to Shawn and he has mention to me that he also works on boats. so Shawn has been working on my boat whenever i have a problem. thank you Shawn for everything you have done for us.
