Tree Service
$3,900
It did not go well. When I hired Robert Cook's service, I requested a copy of  a certificate of insurance to be sure he was insured before I let him on my property to do the work. I reiterated to them that I must have the certificate before any work was to start. Then he called me from my property on the day he wanted to start the work and I still had not received the certificate. So I had to call his insurance agent to get the copy. This was his responsibility, not mine.
He quoted me $300 to do deadwooding. I was not present when the work was finished and since he insisted on being paid that very day, my husband paid him the full $3900 and told Robert Cook that he would  speak with me because Mr. Cook told my husband that he never discussed deadwooding with me. But obviously he did because he quoted me on it! Since they did not respond to my communication attempts, I submitted a complaint to the Better Business Bureau.
His work was sloppy. He claims to be an arborist but what I didn't let him  know is that I am a degreed horticulturist. I know exactly how limbs should be removed and the way he removed the limbs was sloppy and incorrect.  He left holes in our yard where he obviously let the tree sections fall when he was removing the large trees. My husband had to spend hours in the yard raking up the mess they left behind. They also left a pile of debris that I had to call them about to come back and pick up, which they did. Our property is not large. I'm not sure how they could have missed it.
It took him 2 days to complete the work. One day my husband informed me that Mr. Cook's wife and kids even showed up at the job site which we thought was unprofessional and even dangerous to have his kids running around when such work is being done.
In our opinion, this is obviously a very unsophisticated and unprofessional, fly-by-the-seat-of-our-pants type of business. We will never hire them again and we will certainly not recommend them to anyone.
