Description of Work: I spoke with the owner he said he was going out of town for a week. I explained what I needed. He took my name and number and said he would contact me when he got back. That was a couple of months ago and I've never heard from him. We decided to go with someone else. So I can't speak to his work just his lack of reliability.

Response from VERN RIGGINS INC
(removed member name). My most humble apology. I am guilty of not calling you back and setting an appointment. I have dozens of thank you and praise cards from may customers. I usually ask people who call me to please call me back if I have not gotten back to them. My problem with not getting back with you as I stated in our original conversation, I just got caught up with so many calls and no secretary. I again apologize. Feel free to contact me and I will be happy to stop by and give your project a looksee to at no charge at your convience. Thank you. Terry Riggins

I was totally pleased with how this project turned out. I called Vern Riggins, Inc. because a long-time friend of mine had known of this company for years and had used them on several occasions. I made an appointment with Terry Riggins who arrived promptly as scheduled. He scaled his ladder to the top of our very tall home, took numerous pictures and came in to discuss our project. It was so helpful to see those pictures so we could clearly understand what needed to be done and just how insecure that chimney really was. It didn't look nearly as bad from the ground. Of course, we had to wait for Mother Nature to cooperate after our very difficult winter, but as soon as the weather improved Terry called to say when they would be arriving. Trey, the foreman on the job, and Russ and Dean arrived promptly as scheduled. They worked steadily all 5 days they were here, took a half-hour (or less) for lunch, and worked to the end of the day. They were knowledgeable, respectful and diligent...and QUIET!!! Of course, they talked among themselves, but there was no loud bantering, no music, nothing distracting or offensive, which I appreciated very much. There was noise from their tools, etc., but that was to be expected. Taking out the secondary chimney was a really messy project, but they cleaned everything up as well as they possibly could. The price was not inexpensive, but it was worth it and I am confident the project could not possibly have been done better by anyone else. While Terry was not on the scene every minute, he wasn't needed...but he did stop by periodically to check on the job, and touched base with me several times to see if things were going along as I wanted. This is an old, established company in Anderson, has a history of integrity and a long list of happy, satisfied customers...including me!
Description of Work: The main chimney inside in my 1890's Victorian was very unstable so was taken down as far as possible (to secure bricks) and rebuilt...the secondary chimney, which no longer had a function, was also very unstable at the top and was completely removed from sky through basement...a crumbling brick window well was completely rebuilt.
