Basically, they got to the point where they told us what was going to be consolidated and what the details were. We were told that this was a done deal. There were many, many problems about the fees, what was going to be paid off, what was not, etc. There was an appraisal done (that we did not ask for) that all of the banks rejected. The situation took so long to complete that I was financially forced to sign the deal. After the closing, I was informed that they had to re-do the HUD papers (the first ones said that the $1500 fee would not have to be paid by us). The second batch of HUD papers said that we were responsible for the $1500. After months of back and forth, we are now sitting with a refinance that has terrible terms and is no where near what the good faith estimate was in the very beginning. We attempted to contact the owner and initially he was fairly responsive, but then decided that he didn't want to deal with us.
