They came out and serviced it and everything was fine. When they’ve come out they’ve always been prompt and when they have come out, at least I feel, that they have been pretty honest about what their assessment is about whatever might be going on, and I know this was a few years ago, one of the service techs came out and said there’s carbon monoxide coming out of your unit and you really need to replace it. Which we knew anyway because it was about 20 years old, but I was certainly glad he turned off and said don’t do it. They came out and gave us a fair bid and I’ve kind of been with them ever since. I like their honesty the best. I can’t think of anything I’ve had with them that I would complain about. I think they do pretty good. I do see deals out there, but sometimes I don’t think that’s as important as the reliability and the relationship you build over the years. I think they are fairly competitive with their price. They’ve always come out right when I’ve called them, so I would say they’re very good. They usually come right when they say they do. I’ve been please with them. I’ve used them now for years. I would use them again. I would rather stick somebody that I have done business with. If they done something really awful I’d probably look around, but they haven’t.

lI had a pipe burst in my home on 1/15/15 that caused $70K worth of damage, so I have just been through six month process to get the home repaired and remodeled.  I had Fox Valley Heating and Cooling replace a failed furnace and A/C for the first floor of my home back in January.  On Friday 7/31/15 they (Aex - one of the owners) came back to check out that unit and while he was there I inquired about getting the second floor furnace and AC replaced.  He gave me a quote on Saturday, I accepted it on Sunday and he started the work on Monday afternoon, finishing up on Tuesday 8/4/15.
The total cost was approximately $9500.  I had a bid from another contractor to do the work for $7500, but I went with Fox Valley because I did not think that the other contractor would ever show up to do the work, and I knew Alex would.
I give them an overall "A" rating and I will use them again but there are some things about the job that I didn't like:
1.  I had to write them a check for the whole amount of the job before they started work.  Most contractors take a down payment (no more than half the total) and then collect the remainder when the work is done.  It makes me wonder if Fox Valley has low cash flow problem.
2. Although I spent a great deal of time explaining to Alex how I wanted the electrical run to the outdoor A/C unit, he still did not do it to my specifications.  Because of the pipe break in January, the whole house is getting re-wired.  I built a conduit system that uses 1" conduit and 4-11/16" pull boxes to transfer the circuits from the service panels to the devices.  As such, multiple circuits run in the 1" sections.  Fox Valley bascially blocked off one of my 1" main runs so I couldn't use it for additional circuits.  When I told Alex about it, he said that he thought he did it the way I had told him and that it took four hours to do and that I could re-do it myself if I wanted and he would deduct $250 from the bill.  I told him that the reason I paid him to do it was that my wife wanted the AC right away and she didn't want to wait for me to get around to hooking up the electrical.  Long story short, I told him to just finish it and I would have to fix it later.  (Yeah, more work for me)
3.  Instead of cutting two small holes, one for the A/C lineset and one for the electrical, they cut one big (3-4") hole in the side of my house.
Despite these issues, as I stated earlier, I gave them an "A" and I would use them again.  Alex is a good guy, very knowledgeable and despite #2 above, he usually communicates pretty well.  When you call, he shows up.  He tells you when he will be there and if he is running behind he will call you and let you know.  He is very dependable and he really tries hard to make sure that you are satisfied.
