I contacted Russ Dehlinger by telephone about upgrading the graphics card on my Dell XPS 730x desktop computer.  We discussed the information he would need to evaluate the computer for upgrading it based on the graphics card requirements for Adobe Photoshop CC 2015.  I sent to him all the system information on the computer, Adobe Photoshop CC requirements, and Adobe Photoshop CC graphics card requirements that he needed by email.  He evaluated the information I sent to him, and he called me back to suggest that I also upgrade my system C drive to a new SSD hard drive.  I agreed that would be a good idea.   Russ then went to Micro Center in Westmont to talk to the technical staff about the requirements for upgrading my computer with a new graphics card and a SSD hard drive. He came back to me with recommendations for the two items  that would work on my computer, and he provided me an online link to purchase the items at Micro Center.  I purchased the items online,  and then picked them up to give to Russ along with the computer to upgrade it.

Russ installed the two items in my computer and checked out the system which worked great.  After taking the computer home it started having problems during the boot process.  I called Russ and he subsequently made a visit to my house to check out the computer and resolve the problem with  Windows 7 not starting.  He resolved the problem by correcting the boot sequence in the bios to start with the newly installed SSD system C hard drive.  Somehow, the boot drive got changed to one of my external hard drives.  This change in the bios boot sequence resolved the problem.

I found Russ to be very easy to work with, very knowledge, and extremely dedicated to fix or resolve any problems you have with your computer.  In my experience over many years he is one of the best IT persons I have come in contact with and worked with.  He wants his customers to be happy and satisfied with his work   He goes to great effort to evaluate the problem and make recommendations for hardware and software as needed and to provide technical support afterwards if required.  He was very responsive to my telephone calls and emails. 

I highly recommend Russ Dehlinger and he provides active customer support to his many business clients in the Chicago metropolitan area.  I will not hesitate to use Russ Dehlinger again if needed and he builds computers if desired for his clients.

Russ gave me exact instruction on what new hard drive to purchase, where to purchase it, and how much to pay for it in order to save data from my deteriorating desktop hard drive.  I can't tell you how much I appreciated that!
In addition to installing a new hard drive with all my existing data on my desktop, he installed some software I bought that I didn't want to fuss with on both my laptop and desktop.  In so doing, he configured my Outlook email and I have to say I expected issues ... because I have ALWAYS had Outlook configuration issues with other techs.  They got resolved fine, but with Russ .... no issues! 
Russ took my old external backup and made it almost like new by cleaning up a lot of old data and restoring a lot of free space.  I had been having issues with that hard drive for a long time.  My last tech that I had been using for a long time seemed to be puzzled.  Didn't offer any solutions.  Russ made it like new.
Russ is more professional than any tech I have ever used.  I have NEVER had anyone take my hardware or software to work on and give me a written and signed inventory of everything I left with him.  Now, that's classy!  And when you stop to think of it, a great reflection on how he does business.
Russ communicated with me during the few days he was working on my computers.  His professionalism in this regard was the best experience I've ever had.

Sent him an email on a Monday; probably his busiest day after a weekend of problems cropping up.  He said he was very busy but he called me in less than 2 hours and resolved my problem over the phone. Took 15 to 20 minutes.  Quick reply, great service and I would certainly use him again.

I called Russ and he got back to me in a couple of hours.  He gave me a rough estimate that appeared to be very reasonable, so I made arrangements to have him look at the computer. I dropped off the computer and within 24 hours he called me and explained what was wrong with the computer and how much the total cost would be. I was able to pick it up the next day with the repairs completed. Russ appears to be very knowledgeable in the field of computer security and  I am very satisfied with the work. He also gave me some tips on how to keep the computer running smoothly. I would highly recomend using Russ for your computer needs.

On November 9, 2014 my desktop crashed and went to blue screen (panic!).  After shutting off and restarting the PC, only a dark screen appeared with the cursor pulsating in the upper left corner of the screen.  None of the usual ways to recover worked (PC power on/off, ctrl/alt/del, esc key, etc.).  I had used Russ in the past to resolve issues and his work and technical knowledge are impeccable.  I sent him an email regarding my problem.  Russ called me the next day/morning, November 10.  I explained the situation and, on the phone,  he walked me through some diagnostic steps to determine the problem.  He then showed me how to re-install a previous version of Windows 7.  It worked; back in business and no more issues.  Great job!

Russ determined what was wrong with my computer.  He gave me three options for fixing the computer with pros and cons of each option.  I chose to replace the hard drive because the computer was so infected.  He removed all the information from my computer and cleaned it up before putting it on to the new hard drive.  My computer is running really well now and I am very happy with the work that Russ did.  I think the price was very reasonable considering the amount of work that my computer needed.

My brother's laptop had acquired a browser hijacker. I attempted to fix this for him, but the laptop froze up. CTRL-ALT-DEL did not work. All restore points had been wiped out and the laptop became stuck at the welcome screen. I called RD Cutting Edge Tech Solutions. Russ was very helpful over the phone. He provided an estimate range, depending on the issues he uncovered. I brought the laptop to him; he kept me updated as he worked on the laptop.
Russ completed the work in a few days (we weren't in a hurry). He found some viruses and malware, in addition to the browser hijacker. When we picked up the laptop, he gave my brother some suggestions for better anti-virus software, as well as demonstrating the Qualys browser checker. This was very helpful to my brother, as he is comfortable with most things he does on a computer, but is not overly-tech savvy. So he is often uncertain what to do when he receives messages on websites that he needs to download something in order for the website to work.

I have used RDCE services in the past.  Needing to replace a failing computer, I called Russ BEFORE I went to purchase the new equipment.  He reviewed my needs and made several suggestions about options to try at the store.  After purchasing the new equipment, I scheduled an appointment for the transfer of data and installation of the new computer.  Russ picked up my old and new computer and discussed what items needed to be installed.  Within 48 hours my new computer was returned and the installation process completed.
Russ is always very professional.  He is punctual, and he takes the time to answer questions and make suggestions.

My laptop computer died a couple of weeks ago. I was thinking of getting a new one anyway but this greatly hastened the process. As I have little proficiency with computers I needed someone who could hopefully recover the data on my old computer and set up a new one. I turned to Angie's List and selected Russ Dehlinger at RD Cutting Edge Tech Solutions because of his very high, and sufficient number, of ratings.

I called Russ and we talked for maybe 20 minutes on the phone going over what he would do, the cost and what specs I should look for in a new computer. With that I found a new laptop in about a week and contacted Russ again to get his okay on my purchase and to set up a time I could drop off the old and new computers at his house.

In the week Russ had my computers, I wasn't in a great rush, he ran complete diagnostics on my old machine, removed the hard drive which was failing, and thankfully was able to recover all user files. Before transferring data to the new computer Russ scanned all files for viruses and malware. Then he got it set up in terms of login, a new Microsoft account, Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Adobe Reader, Norton, Qualys Browser Checker and performed updates on any programs that needed it. Finally, in addition to providing periodic updates along the way, Russ included complete written documentation of the work he performed, account names, passwords, helpful tips, etc.

I am very pleased with the work Russ did as well as his thoroughness and professionalism. I'd recommend him to anyone with computer problems.

Wonderfully. Was running a little late and called to let me know. Was very organized and systematic, taking notes and writing down settings. Kept me involved in all of the testing to confirm things worked. He's extremely knowledgeable about new technologies and was able to offer some great advice about security, operating systems, and back up for home and small business users. Would use him again no question about it and will refer anyone to him who is in need of solid expertise. Most importantly, I felt comfortable. It is always a concern when you let a service provider into your home, but it was never an issue with Russ.

race had an XP based computer and could not use her IE8. The computer was also slow  and seemed to hang with downloads. Russ came on site and tried to repair and then replace the IE8 to no avail. He made sure her Firefox and Chrome  browsers were both up and set-up in such a way as to make her comfortable. This senior is extremely particular.
 He explained to Grace that Win XP goes off Microsoft's support list in April 2014 and after that  there will be no Important updates (security fixes are in important updates) so she will be at great risk using Win XP after that date. Cyber Criminals know the vulnerability in XP and Microsoft will not patch. Therefore it is much easier for them to infect her computer if she happens to click on a wrong link  in  search results, Email link,  Email attachment etc.. He suggested that rather putting more time in fixing this older desktop ,(it was seven years old) now is a good time to get a new computer.  Russ went over what type of computer would work well for Grace and wrote out the specifications even tellling her which nearby store would have the best value for her :  recommended a (Windows 7 laptop)and gave a specific Dell Model at Microcenter (Dell Laptop or HP), Windows 7 Home Prem. 64 bit, Intel i5 processor, 6 GB RAM, etc.) that went for $599 (a good deal). Gave Grace the SKU and info. so she could buy (they had 10+ in stock as of Saturday).
Grace and I went out and with Russ's specifications in hand purchased her new computer (got Windows 7 professional) and I was able to get her set-up and back on the internet relatively quickly.
Russ is always careful and considerate. He is extremely patient, especially with an impatient senior, and he explains things with crystal clarity. I have spent years in the computer industry and have dealt with many persons who fancy themselves as computer experts. Russ just quietly, IS an expert. I will always recommend him with 100% confidence that he will give everything to solve your problem.

I purchased all needed parts to build a new PC and brought them to Russ to put together. Russ spent a lot of time with all the questions I threw at him in gathering all the needed parts to build a new PC for me. I wanted to build a PC that was pretty close to as good as it gets without going too crazy and overspending. Russ was very patient and methodical in making sure I was led in the right direction. My requests did make him spend a lot of time researching, but he was there for me every time.

Eventually, I purchased all the necessary parts and brought them to him. He had a finished working new Intel Core i7 based Windows Professional PC ready for me within a few days. He loaded all the software I wanted as well as some he added.

Without question, this is an extremely fast and very quiet machine. Absolutely everything I wanted. I brought it to the office to get some work related programs loaded. After I got it home, I loaded the necessary Anti Virus programs as well as other programs, and It runs fantastic.

I can't say enough about Russ's vision, professionalism, patience, and ability to understand my needs on what I want out of a PC. He has always been a pleasure to work with. His work is always on budget, on time, and with great results. What more can one ask? There is no need to go anywhere else, ever.

My computer died overnight and wouldn't turn on.  My son is a Software Developer but lives in another city and after talking with him, he thought the power supply died.  I used Angie's List to find RD Cutting Edge Tech Solutions and contacted Russ.  He got back to me quickly with a estimate of the diagnosis.  I dropped it off and 2 days later (right when he said he would) he contacted me to say the power supply failed and gave me a very good price to replace it.  It was done on time and I now have my computer back and working.  I would highly recommend Russ to anyone looking for an honest & professional computer repair specialist.

Russ took my very slow laptop and cleaned up the mess I made trying to do it myself. He installed a couple of programs to keep it that way and recommended a security suite with instructions written down on where to find it and install. He invoice included a detailed summary of all he did with tips to keep it in tip top shape. He's a real nice guy and I will use him again for any future computer problems.

I've had my computer fixed at Best Buy in the past and Im not saying that they didn't do a good job. They fixed the problem and everything but the difference with Mr. Russ is that he lets you know what's going on with your computer. And not only that he fixes the problem but he does it thoroughly and you can tell that he knows his way around computers. Very knowledgeable about computers. I am definitely satisfied with my computer. Excellent work ethic. Definitely my go to guy for any computer problems.

The problem was so simple, he said, he couldn't bill me the standard rate. The first time that's ever happened with anybody!  Russ  clearly communicates exactly what you need to know, unusual for techies.  The speakers work perfectly now.

Russ went above and beyond what we had asked him to do,  Not only did he fix the problem and explain what had caused it, he prepared a report of all his findings and recommendations that we can refer to.  He kept us informed during the whole process, ensuring we understood what he was going to do, and always asked for our approval before applying any fixes.

Russ went above and beyond what we expected to cure the problems we had on our desktop.  The problems were complex and required a lot of time to track down and fix.  As usual, Russ was prompt, diligent, pleasant and fixed all the problems.  Russ thoroughly  documents the problems and makes many written tips about problem saving software and ideas. This is not the first time we went to Russ for computer help and it probably won't be the last.
