Kevin seemed very professional when he came to bid on the project.  He took measurements and suggested different options that would work in the space.  He asked good questions, like if we wanted to do a "picture frame" around the fireplace.  He mentioned the difference between regular hardwood flooring versus the engineered wood.  All in all, I felt really comfortable with him and his capabilities.  Things went downhill from there.  I agree with another review that he is unresponsive.  He does return calls or texts, and when issues arose, he chose to blame others rather than just accept responsibility.  My initial concern was regarding the riser his crew installed.  The bid included "removing existing bulky riser and replace with new using flooring materials?  They did not replace the riser but rather painted the old bulky riser white.  Kevin did resolve this issue but it was at that time, the crew damaged the flooring in the process.  He came to take a look at the damage on May 2nd, and gave me 2 options for repair.  He asked that I call him on May 16th to remind him and he would have the crew that was in the area come do the repair.  Kevin said the 16th would be a good time to do the repair because he would have a crew in my area doing another job.  I called him on the 16th and did not return my call.  I called him again and no return call.  On June 6th, I called Kevin again and, this time, he answered.  It was at this time that Kevin said my job was a small job and they are too busy with others at the moment.  I told him that I felt I had waited long enough for this job to be finished and he rebutted by mentioning he was not hopping waiting 3 weeks for final payment.  I am not sure why I even gave him final payment until the repair was done, but he just seemed so professional.  It's deceiving.  I would use this company again.  I know he seems honest, capable and professional.  He is not!

His crew works hard but Kevin is very unresponsive.  Does not return calls, text or emails.  Have issues with my floor and he will not respond to calls or texts

Kevin saved our remodel. Our previous flooring contractor had held our job hostage for 3 weeks by sending inadequate crews, and finally we fired him. Kevin came in on a Thursday, worked all the way through the weekend, and we were back walking on the floors on Tuesday. I know he had to squeeze us in, but he never made us feel that way. We are forever in debt to him. His crew had to sand through some thick black tar paper in the dining room and kitchen, deal with a few pet stains from the previous owners, and work with 3 different materials of wood. The floors turned out amazingly well. Do yourself a favor and hire Kevin from the beginning. He is a real pro.

Everything went very well, he was prompt, professional, fast and helpful. The floors look fantastic.

We highly recommend Kevin and American Hardwood Flooring. Kevin was very responsive to our needs when we wanted the color in the kitchen to be a bit darker. Kevin was always very professional. When Kevin wasn't doing the work, he led his crew with frequent visits and calls to be sure we were pleased. We love the way our new floors look. Would definitely use Kevin again...
