We had storm damage on our existing pool (posts & railing pulled away from our pool) so we called a friend's husband for an estimate. He gave an estimate of $1200.00 to set the pool back on the track, put the posts and rails back in their appropriate places, and for a new liner. The first day, the son of the owner came and left after he saw it was raining. The next day he came again with another worker and proceeded to tell me that they were working on some of the posts, but the contract did not include everything. I had my husband call the owner (the father) to find out what that meant. When he returned to work the next day, he left a screw on the ground by the pool (I have dogs, one of which is a puppy) and left the liner out. He didn't show up for several more days without contact. During this time, the wall of the pool proceeded to collapse on itself, leaving a dent. When they finally came back, they asked what I had done with the plastic screw which was left on the ground. I explained that I have two dogs and one of them probably got it. I mean, who leaves parts/equipment laying on the ground until you get back with dogs in the yard? He proceeded to tell me that this would cost another $20 plus a $75 service call to get it fixed. After speaking with my husband, he said he would find a used part for free and just eat the amount for the screw. We also had a broken skimmer so he replaced that for $100. He wanted to collect the money when the posts were still sitting out from the pool, the pool wasn't in the track, and we found later that the skimmer wasn't properly installed. We paid $800 up front for the liner and owed another $575 upon completion. After writing the check for the "completed" work, the son informed me that the $400 went to his dad and the $175 went to himself and I'd have to write two more checks. Ugh. We finally got in the pool last night and found the liner to be in such a mess (wrinkled, indents from shoes, etc.) that it was nearly impossible to vacuum. The railing has black marks ALL OVER from tennis shoes and many of the "fixed" posts sit higher than the rest. Like I said, the posts still sit away from pool and the pool never got put in the track. We also found after filling it up, that it sits crooked by about 4-6 inches. This was a mess and we would never refer them to our worst enemy.
Description of Work: Remove existing liner, attempt to place pool back in track and put posts and rails back in place. Replace one plastic screw and skimmer.
