Our experience with Lucke Plumbing was a complete disaster. I am writing this review about 18 months after our project was started because I am finally so fed up with everything they did wrong that I cannot find any more excuses for why their work was so poor. Our issues with this company fit in to areas:
1) 5-6 different plumbers worked on our project and their plumbing skills were hardly better than my own. And I know nothing about plumbing, but I know how to do things right when it comes to my own trade. I also have common sense to see when someone has no idea about the work they do.
2) Over the course of the project, as things were going wrong, we contacted the owner multiple times and asked for more experienced plumbers to be sent on site, but Scott kept sending the same crew over and over again.
Here is a laundry list of things that went wrong from the beginning 18 months ago, till last night when we discovered another problem that ruined one of our new kitchen cabinets.
DURING THE PROJECT:
1) Our drawings for the master bathroom shower included two shower heads, a hand-held one and a stationary one. When the plumbers started the work on the shower, I left all the necessary hardware for them so they can start building all the plumbing lines. Since this was my first remodeling experience and I tend to trust people I hire or work with, I did not pay close attention to what the plumbers were doing till the shower was tiled. I was shocked to realize after a few days, that the plumbers completely forgot to build a line for one of the heads so they had to rip out one of my bedroom walls to correct the problem from the back of the shower.
2) In this same shower, Lucke Plumbing had to install a Hansgrohe mixer/water controls which has a special button to prevent users from burning themselves with hot water. These guys had no clue how to install this, but never asked anybody for help. They just installed the fixture and did not care that the functionality was not working.
3) One of the plumbers was supposed to install a garbage disposal in the kitchen. He sat in front of our kitchen sink cabinet for 8 hours one day unable to install it. He made numerous calls for help from his co-workers and still could not do a thing with it. He did not make one step of progress that day in 8 solid ours. Finally, he said he had to take our garbage disposal and bring one from their supply store since he could not install ours. It took him another full day to install even the one he brought. This same guy installed our new dish washer which was so crooked that even our 6 year old daughter asked why it was sitting the way it was.
A FEW MONTHS AFTER THE PROJECT WAS COMPLETED:
4) We found a water leak in a drawer under one of the bathroom sinks. I knew exactly where the drip was, but the same plumber who did the kitchen disposal came and left after telling me the problem was condensation on the pipes. I let him leave without the work done only because I wanted him out of my house. I could not stand dealing with him any longer. Scott, the owner, had to send him back again a few days later after I had a fan running in the bathroom and we waited for a day with low humidity. (We had A/C running all along, but they had me jump through hoops.) At that time they finally fixed the leak I pointed out the first time.
LAST NIGHT (ONLY 18 MONTHS AFTER THE NEW KITCHEN WAS INSTALLED):
5) I opened the kitchen cabinet under the sink only to find a huge puddle of water underneath. One of the junctions that leads from the disposal to the main plumbing line started leaking suddenly. I have owned places where nothing like this happened in 15 years I owned them. However, those places were probably not done by Lucke Plumbing. On top of this leak, I also noticed that the water line that leads to the dish washer has a minor leak too. I could not believe my eyes. The kitchen cabinet is ruined and probably cannot be replaced.
For anyone looking for a plumber, I would suggest never hiring these guys despite the A's they have in these reviews. My project was done by at least 6 different guys from this company and none of them deserve anything more than a D. You never know who they will send your way. I don't even want to call Lucke Plumbing back to tell them about the latest leak because I do not want them in my house at all. I just wish there was a way to charge for all the damage that they have done along the way,
What I didn't agree to is charging me over $700 to rod a line which I had already said others had tried. I feel they said whatever I wanted to hear so they could get some of that money I was wasting.
I have tried to call the supervisor who assured me that they weren't going to waste my time and money and nothing. I've called several times over the course of a couple weeks. (because of the other more important job, i gave him the benefit of the doubt)
I want him to call me and explain why he things charging me $700 is ok when I told him I had already spent money hiring other plumbers to fix the drainage.
basement. Marc called, came by, asked precise questions, and fixed the
problem within 10 minutes! I was amazed. I'll be calling them from now
on. First thing.
Reasonable prompt service and good price. But when I suggested they send someone more experienced, they did not.
I will have them do all my plumbing repairs and pass their name on to my Angie friends and others too!
