The Team at Assured Air has provided great service for us for about 20 years including two new installs (different houses) and providing custom ductwork at yet another house. Our lastest experience was also excellent - thanks Ted, Rick, Matt and the rest of the team that worked on this installation!

The installation in 2014 was fine - at the time. Within the 6 year warranty, the pressure tank on the heater failed and began to leak all over the floor. As I researched, I discovered that the install of the pressure tank was done incorrectly (on its side instead of vertical) and likely caused the failure. When I called Assured, they had a guy come out who looked at it and said they don't install pressure tanks and it must have been on my old water heater. (As an aside, I understand that these tanks are highly recommended to avoid backflow into the intake line and also required by many village codes). Even if it may have been the case that they didn't put the original in, they did reinstall it (could see where the fresh welding was on the heater last time) incorrectly on to my new heater. I was frustrated that they didn't take the time to install that correctly and asked that they fix their faulty install - I even offered to pay for the new pressure tank. The employee got the supervisor got on the phone with me and he argued that it wasn't their issue. He said they'd take care of it and "don't ever f---king call them again". Then employee got back on the phone with the supervisor who then, instead, told him just to leave my house. Totally unprofessional.
Response from Assured Air Ltd
"The above review is wrong. We do not install water heater expansion tanks. We did not install it originally and do not install them currently. We do not stock water heater pressure tanks and have limited access to get them since they are a plumbing item. We typically recommend the customer to call a plumber and even give out a couple names and number they can call. I do not believe that we even got paid for the service call to show up to the customers home. I do recall that the customer tried to hire our serviceman after hours and on the side stating that he would run out and pick up the part if he would install it, our serviceman refused. By this time it was already the end of the day. I do not recall the supervisor swearing. Unfortunately sometimes there are repairs that are not in our scope of work and a plumber, electrician or carpenter may be needed. We apologize for the situation but please keep in mind that we are a heating and a/c company that replaces water heaters but does not do other forms of plumbing. Note: the 6 year warranty applies to the water heater, not the external pressure tank."

They ordered the necessary part for the hot water tank and performed the work as required at a reasonable price. We have a complicated 5 zone system in our house for radiant heat and didn't know why some areas were not getting the hot water supply. Its a good thing that Rick knew what he was doing because I had a couple other companies evaluate the problem that didn't properly address the issue. Very reasonable rates too. I saved $200 from what I was quoted by competitors like Freedom Heating. Assured Air has earned my long term business for HVAC.

Assured replaced an A/C compressor under warranty. They came out right away and quickly determined the issue. There was a delay in the repair as the manufacturer was slow to get the compressor sent out. Ted followed up with the manufacturer several times and showed great tenacity in getting the issue resolved. Once he got the compressor, his tech, Rich, was out the next morning and completed the install. Ted & his team demonstrate a "customer first" attitude and I will turn to Assured Air for all my HVAC needs.

"Thanks for the nice review. We patiently worked with the customer and supplier, after 2 to 3 hours on the phone and the suppliers warranty process. The job went well and we installed the compressor shortly after receiving it."

Very prompt and professional service from a knowledgeable and courteous technician. We have had work done by them before and have always been satisfied. Very reputable, have recommended them to friends and family. Everyone has always been extremely satisfied. Our air conditioner was back up and running in no time. Very reasonable repair cost.

Initial activity was a furnace and air conditioning service & check in April. At the time everything was checked and determined to be ok. By November, we noticed leakage from a condensation line and had a f/u appt. scheduled for the 17th. During that visit, the tech said that there was a copper piece in the condensate tubing and that was causing a blockage leading to the leak. He blew the piece and subsequent build-up out and told my husband and I all about how he doesn't understand how a piece like that can be left in there, he thinks it was left over from the install and no one at his company would do such a thing. To which I informed him, that they'd been out early that year to check to service it, and he didn't know how it was missed. He told me I owed the $80 service fee, which surprised me given our conversation about how the problem should have been recognized. Since it was the weekend, I went ahead a paid, but left a message for the company to give me a call back about the issue. And thus began the issue that really frustrated me, which was the complete lack of response. I called multiple times for weeks to speak with someone about the issues and was told someone would call me back. Mind you, I had health issues all through December which made it difficult to talk, and I told one gentleman this during a call in December and still, no one had the courtesy to give me a call back. In January, I was told the owner would be in that afternoon and would give me a callback. Nothing. Cue today, and I'm livid because we're going on 3 months and I don't have a final response regarding this issue. So I call, share my frustration, and am transferred to Brandon, who's the supervisor. We started on poor terms, when he interrupted me while I was describing my situation to inform me that a service check doesn't mean things can't change in a few months. Understood. That's not my issue. The issue is there was copper found in the line and that doesn't just appear out of thin air. His response is that the technicians aren't robots and there's no way they can see through white tubing. I inform him that my tube is clear and he informs me that there's no way to refund the service charge and it shouldn't matter because if they had found the issue during the April appointment then I would have had an extra charge to cover it. At that point, I informed him that I was done with this company. But really: would the cost for him to blow air through the tubing to dislodge the copper have equaled $80? This feels unlikely. And after months of back and forth, it's beyond disappointing to have that response.

"We have only serviced this customer 2 times and did not do the installation at her [Member Information Removed]. The 1st visit was 4/25/18 and we preformed 2 clean and checks to the furnace and air, the work done at this visit has a 30 day labor guaranty. The 2nd visit was 11/17/18, almost 7 month later. I personally talked to Mrs. [Member Name Removed] just before the holidays and and discussed this with her fully. Unfortunately there is no way that we could warranty her 2nd call months later that had nothing to do with the clean and checks performed prior. The serviceman during the 2nd call even charged her straight time ($80.00 vs $120.00) for a weekend call, feeling for the situation. Also Brandon talked to her just before this review re-explaining the situation. We did the best we could for this customer and really tried to explain the situation to her but she would not take no for a answer, we did the best we could for her. Unfortunately she had a issue pop up months after her clean and checks were done with a condensate pump line and did not understand why she had to pay for it. The $80.00 charged is our diagnosis charge that includes travel to the customers [Member Information Removed] and time to diagnose the problem, all charges were correct, sorry for the misunderstanding."

"Thank you for the nice review. We carry Rheem water heaters and have standard 40 and 50 gallon units in stock. We also do powervent units and storage tank units, typically off of a residential boiler (Triangle Tube or Weil Mc Clain brand). We are able to work on and install tankless units if desired. We work in conjunction with a local plumber in our area but residential heating and air are our main focus. We carry water heaters has a additional service for our customers should they not have a plumber they normally work with. Our work is good, our equipment is name brand and our prices are fair."

"The customer purchased the job originally through Angie's list. We got the notice of the sale. Contacted the customer and verified that the furnace he purchased would work for his home. We then traded emails and pictures. After confirming the size the job was set up and we went out and completed the installation. Everything went very well, has planned. We appreciate the nice grade given and nice words the customer has stated about our company. We hope to retain this customers business going forward. Thank you!"

“It’s nice to know you’re not crazy!” That’s what the chief troubleshooter from Assured Air told me on September 22, 2016 after he diagnosed the faulty thermal expansion valve in the evaporator/air handler of my “new” SpacePak air conditioning system. It was a good joke…my kind of joke, he’s a nice guy, and he’s right. It Is nice to know that you’re not crazy. On the other hand, that AC system was installed on June 12, 2015—not so new! That’s no joke! It took Assured Air two full summers of my being a questioning, complaining, “crazy” customer for them to properly diagnose and fix my system. And it was finally fixed by a simple part replacement! Two summers of my new $16,000 system cooling the second floor about as well as the two old 8,000BTU we previously used up there (about $800 worth) (The tech said the system was putting out about 1/3 of what it should). Two summers of being told that an attic fan “had been Suggested” and now was clearly necessary to help with the hot attic (Buy More Stuff!). Two summers of being told that I needed better curtains to keep the sun out. Two summers of my asserting that the system should work correctly first and then we can worry about details. But most importantly, and weirdly, two summers of telling me that the system was actually operating properly when it clearly wasn’t. SpacePak national technical support said that with those symptoms it wasn’t working correctly. Anyone that I checked with that knew about AC systems including a paid 3rd party troubleshooter wrinkled their eyebrows when I related Assured Air’s claim. The technical problem was that the Anti-Frost Switch in the evaporator (inside the house) was shutting down the compressor unit (outside the house) every 10-15 minutes (and triggering a clear warning light) while continuously running the evaporator fan inside--even though the thermostat temperature was never reached and the coldest air coming out of a vent was 60F degrees-sometimes warmer. This means that, for some reason, something was freezing inside the evaporator and shutting down the system before it could really get cooling the house. Assured Air had workmen look at the system, including replacing the Anti-Frost warning switch, before they gave up. After that, in numerous phone calls, Ted (the owner) told me that the warning light was normal and instead chose to focus on subsidiary issues like attic fans and curtains. It did this for two summers. The 3rd party troubleshooter suggested that I ask Assured one more time to look at the system after he heard an odd noise in the condenser outside. When they came out and focused on that part of the system it lead to discovery of the bad thermal expansion valve. which made the system work properly…finally! And now that it’s fixed, it never cycles except on the thermostat and it puts out 45F degree air. I ran it when it was 68F degrees outside and it never froze. Since that repair happened in the fall, I haven’t had a chance to test it fully on a hot day but it’s finally looking hopeful. I chose Assured Air because Ted gave a good sales pitch and because they came in with the lowest price out of four bids. The installation went very smoothly and the crew finished a day earlier than they quoted. The installation crew were unfailingly courteous and very clean. I had cleaning to do after they left but no more than normal house cleaning. These are surely not the animals described in another review. I’m not sure why Ted dug his heels in, ignored the warning lights, and reverted to armchair quarterbacking rather than actively pursuing the cause of my system’s…His system’s…problem but he did. This is puzzling as he and his company seem to get mostly good reviews—Not from me though. Watch out!
Response from Assured Air Ltd
"I want this review to stay has it is and never be altered. First off I want to point out the positives. We gave the customer the fairest, lowest price on the job. Our crew was nice, courteous, clean, and completed the job on or before time. We stuck it out with the customer fielding numerous calls via phone, warranty visits and calls to the manufacturer. It took some time but ultimately the customers problem was solved. I believe this review should be a C or possibly a B but unfortunately we are in a society that does not give credit where it is due. We do not manufacture the equipment, we are installers and servicers. The problem was hard to diagnose due to it being irratic. The location where the unit had to be placed was extreemely tight. The part that failed normally never does and is in a horrible location in the unit to replace. I had to arm chair quarterback the problem because I am almost 50 years old and I have not physically worked in the field for years. Ultimately we solved a tough irratic problem that did not show itself during most visits. We lost money on the job and still gave customer service standing behind the equipment we installed. We recommended a attic fan and some shading based on temperature differences on the second floor where the bedrooms are located. Looking back many thermal expansion valve manufactures had problems that year. We can provide this information if desired or you can Google it. Unfortunately it does take some time for these problems to manifest themselves and for manufactures to send out service bulletins and ultimately own up to their being a problem. We did everything we could to satisfy this customer. We are premium Space Pak installers that have completed many, many jobs. I would recommend that you look at all of our reviews and not let this one hinder your decision. We are a company that provides fair prices, good installations and good equipment plus we do stand behind our work. I believe we are a upstanding company that will do its very best for its customers."

"We had a customer try one of those duct cleaning specials a few years ago. The company came out with a leaf blower and a shop vac. Also they tried to charge more money of course. The bottom line is that you get what you pay for. We have 3 real duct cleaning machines that cost over 12k each. The method is proven and we never up charge. We also include free deodorizer called Proliminator. It is a high quality product, not a can of store bought deodorizer. Lastly we spend time to get the job done once and right, so it will last for a long while (up to and sometimes beyond 10 years). Please see our web site duct cleaning page, a full video is there that will show you how it is done properly. Thanks for the a's and b's."

Richard and his assistant showed up on time and worked all day until the installation was completed.  They were very careful to cover my floors and clean up as they left.  They did a great job on the install.  Additionally, the house has never been cooler as the new system is working great.  The also provided all of the paperwork for my rebates from NICOR and COMED.  All I had to do was sign and add my account numbers.

I did notice a zoning system with out a barometric damper which we corrected. The home was in very nice condition and has with all of our jobs I reminded the guys to tarp off the areas that we would come in contact with. The job was done by my son, who has worked with us the past few summers and Rich, who has been with us since 1996. Personally I have known him since 1991. Typically when a customer calls to request information on one or schedule one, we direct them to our web site. Under the air duct cleaning tab there is a You Tube video there that they can watch and then fully understand the process and equipment. We feel that with the proper amount of time and the right equipment, that after our service the home should have clean duct work for about 10 years. Providing of course that the filter is properly maintained. We also do not try to up charge our customers. The price they are quoted is the price they pay.
