Weed Man - Arlington Heights IL

This was our worst Angie's List experience to date (and we've used a lot of Angie's list services). Terrible service, didn't use basic common sense not to spray flowers and garden, were fired same season, kept coming back next season after multiple calls telling them we don't want their services. Kept trying to send us bills for those services when they were fired almost a year ago and multiple complaints/phone conversations telling them never to come back.

The review giving them an F from 1/24/20 is 100% accurate. After we canceled their service for 2019 (we just wanted to move on), they kept calling. I'd see their number come up on my screen ALL THE TIME! I finally answered and told them to take me off their list. Then last fall, the calls started again. I couldn't believe it. I, in no uncertain terms, told them to remove me from their list and stop calling. Well, guess who called me today (7/31/20)? You guessed it. I'm writing the Better Business Bureau next. It's just too much.

I don't write many reviews but I felt compelled to warn others about Weed Man. If you value your privacy, DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR PHONE NUMBER. No joke, I upgraded my old iPhone just so I could block calls from these people. That sucks, because I really liked my old phone but I couldn't stop these people from calling. From 10/01/19 thru 10/17/19 (before I started blocking them) I had 18 voicemails from them. I have no idea if the service they provide is actually any good. My lawn didn't die and neither did my dog. So there's that.

It went great. They were able to get rid of them, and I haven't seen one since. They come every month to check it.

They are excellent always. I would highly recommend them.

I'm very happy with their service, there isn't a single violet in my yard. I was shocked that they were able to eradicate them so completely

They are very nice to work with, they work around my schedule. They come out six times spring through fall. I would recommend them.

Great success, except for violets, which he said were very persistent. I would hire again. Liked the explanation of nontoxic materials.

Standard work, the fertilizer and weed treatment was outstanding. Very efficient and effective. The aeration and seeding were another issue. Required multiple phone calls and monitoring. It would seem that the staff have communication and followthrough problems when there is a variation from standard. I wanted only one section of the lawn to have a double aeration and seeding. That took four phone calls to get done. Aeration was supposed to be done and was not for several weeks during the extended dry spell. Was told to water the lawn for twenty minutes and they would be there on Monday. Spent the weekend moving a sprinkler around the 1/4+ acre lot to meet the specs. No one came for the next entire week! Called again on Friday and finally showed up on the next Monday. Have signed a contract for both aeration, weed treatment, and fertilizer for 2018 because was very happy with the basic package. But if there are similar problems with the aeration next year, will not be renewing for 2019

We have the same individual that comes out. The clean up is great. They put out signs and send us a notice two days out ahead of time because sometimes I have my daughter's dog, and I can tell them to wait until the next week.

We are very happy with them.  We have a contract with them.  They have a schedule for an as-needed reapplication. We have had services before that were worthless.  We just started using them.  This is the first time I have not had to go out in between the guy that's coming here to kill the weeds, go out myself and do spot treatments.  We've been using them this spring, March/April.  We have the same individual that comes each time.  They clean up great.  They put out signs that they have used chemicals. They send us a notice two days ahead of time, because sometimes I have my daughter's dog, so that I can say "no" wait until next week.

They were good. The man was very nice. Their service was fine. They killed the weeds.

The only positive is that they do free lawn mower blade sharpening. They show up to do bad work.

THE WEED MAN LAWN CARE COMPANY HAS NOW BEEN FERTILIZING AND AERATING MY LAWN FOR THE LAST (3) SEASONS. DURING THAT TIME MY LAWN HAS BECOME VIRTUALLY WEED FREE AND THE GRASS IS GREENER AND THICKER THAN EVER BEFORE. IT WAS ONE OF THE BEST DECISIONS I HAVE EVER MADE IN TRUSTING THE CARE OF MY LAWN TO THE WEED MAN.

They did a great job on controlling the weeds. I love the notes that they leave at the door and they even blow off my driveway and sidewalks. Their staff is always nice and professional and I would/have recommended them.

So Weed Man called with an offer last fall, and I accepted, seeing is this was the first time I have ever used a lawn service for fertilization and weed treatment. I've always done it myself with mixed results (never kept up with it). my lawn in the spring was a lush green (including some of the weeds that were mixed in with grass, but mostly grass) and after 4 month of weed mans fine fertilization and weed treatment, about 30% of the grass in my lawn is now dead, with huge dead spots. I called them up to inspect, they came out and looked at it, and told me it was "shading and root competition from the trees". oh, you mean the same trees that have been there for the last 80 years? And all of the sudden they are the reason my lawn is all burnt out? They offered me a free fertilization, probably to kill the rest of the grass. I know its fertilizer burn because I did the same thing a few years ago. What a joke this company is. Steer clear, there better options.

They were very knowledgeable about how to treat the wide variety of weeds that infiltrated our lawn. They are not completely cleared up because we contacted them so late in the season. I am confident that they will have our lawn green and weed free next summer.
