CARDINAL OVERHEAD DOOR INC

I called the company in the morning and a repairman was available to come out within one hour. He arrived on time, inspected the door and explained what needed to be fixed. I half expected the entire garage door opener needed to be replaced because of its age but the repairman said the drive motor in the unit was solid and that replacing some parts would have it working again, and probably for a long time. He said the price of the repair would be about $400 and I agreed on the repair. On the positive side he was done in about an hour, and the door works well. On the negative side, I think the price was very high for a repair that took a little over one hour. The bill he presented was hard to read and did not break out the cost of the repair between parts and labor. So its hard to understand why it was $400. How much for parts? How much was the labor? I should have asked for a more detailed estimate. I should have taken the estimate of work to be done and obtained other estimates since it was not critical that the door be repaired that day. I feel like I paid too much. If I ever use this company again, I will get a detailed estimate to understand better what I am paying $$$ for.
