The installer arrived on time. This wasn't a huge job but it wasn't necessarily your typical job either. The installer had to work with and around an existing cabinet. It didn't take very long before I was putting my items back in the closet and getting organized. The installer was professional, clean, accommodating and respectful. What more can you ask for!!!
Thank you California Closets!

The quality is fantastic and the many color options helped us to find exactly what we were looking for. They were even able to install our own hardware that we had purchased for drawers in the master bedroom. I would have liked some other options on the type of rods available (we were never given options, but I'm assuming there may be other ones, it just slipped my mind at the time) as I'm not the biggest fan of the matte finish ones that we have, but not a deal-breaker for us.
Overall, we were very satisfied with the process and the product. We would definitely use California Closets again in the future.
1) we wanted a small wall safe to be mounted between the studs in the wall. The product which showed up with the installers was completely wrong. It was a floor safe. California Closets fully refunded the money for ordering a safe which didn't work.
2) The linen closet design was not good - and we didn't notice the shortcomings until after the installation. Essentially, our linen closet is 18and quot; by 18and quot;. Because of the support system used by California Closets, we lost 1and quot; on each side of the closet; and the shelves, rather than being 18and quot; deep were 14and quot; deep. So essentially we lost the equivalent of more than one shelf. We were never informed of this by the designer, and we didn't notice the detail on the design. After installation, when we raised our concern over the loss of space, their proposal was to redo the linen closet design - at a discounted additional cost of $200 - and that redesign would still not completely satisfy our needs. In fairness - I'm not sure that they have a product that fit our needs - or at least it wasn't offered to us. We ended up tearing out the California Closets installation and going with the wire Elfa system sold by the Container Store at a cost of $200. Same cost as the California Closets re-design, but more in line with our needs. Walt at California Closets authorized sending us approximately $200 worth of accessories that we originally wanted anyway as compensation for the miscue.
3) When the design was being discussed, we were asked if we wanted chrome rods for the closets or a matte-like finish. We thought that the matte finish would look nicer and chose that. When the rods were installed we discovered that our hangers would not slide on the rods. It was as if they were stuck in place. Walt authorized swapping out the rods for chrome (at no cost to us) and these work fine. The installer who came out to swap the rods told us that the matte rods should be used only for plastic hangers. We were never informed of this by our designer. (strike two for the designer)
4) We had a problem with one of the old California Closets (one of the existing closets that were already in the home). When we started to load up the closets with books, the closet supports sagged visibly. They came out immediately (same day) to fix the problem. I was very impressed with the speed and that they honored their lifetime guarantee.
To summarize: We are happy with the closets, and with the followup support that Walt was excellent. In retrospect, the designer that initially worked with us made several mistakes, and that caused some headaches as described above. The price was competitive with other quotes that we got - not the highest and not the cheapest.
